Chapter 43: The weakling trying to become stronger (V)

What’s wrong with that damned Gu Xuanyun! Kicking the door down without a word… who does that!?

I was furious—not just at his rude intrusion, but because he saw me at my most vulnerable.

Of all times, he barged in while I was changing…

Gritting my teeth, my cheeks burned, but I hurriedly threw on my clothes.

Fuming, I plotted how to teach him a lesson—how dare he see my body… unforgivable!

But that thought fizzled out quickly.

Why? Simple!

I!

Can’t!

Beat!

Him!

A guy who hunts dangerous beasts and rakes in gold is at least Gold-rank, maybe higher. I’m not even Bronze, barely above a magic apprentice with my measly cannon-fodder-mage mental energy. No way I can take him.

In other words, Gu Xuanyun could crush me easily—forget seeing my body, he could pin me down and do whatever he wanted.

To put it nicely, I blasted him out. To put it bluntly, he probably left out of embarrassment, going along with my fireballs.

I know my fireballs look flashy but do next to no damage to him.

Mental shock? That’s my only real counter, but as a Gold—or even Platinum—warrior, he’s likely trained against mental attacks. The trick I used on the mercenaries and landlord wouldn’t work as well as a fireball on him.

“…Tch, it all comes down to me being too weak.”

I rubbed my head, a headache forming.

…But still, am I supposed to act like nothing happened?

No way! I’m the one who got screwed! Damn it!

Sure, I was a man in my past life, but I’m a girl now! How can I let someone take advantage without demanding justice? If I let this slide, I’d feel like I lost a billion gold coins!

Gritting my teeth, I wanted to storm out and confront him—but as I stood, my legs buckled, and I flopped back down.

…No choice. Post-workout, I’m drained, and that outburst used up what little energy I had left.

The egg babies stirred, sensing my anger. They started brewing a mental storm, ready to attack Gu Xuanyun if he got close—just like when they mimicked me to kill those mercenaries.

But this time felt different. They seemed hesitant, unsure if they should act.

“It’s fine, no need for you two to get involved. Just stay quiet for Mommy.”

Sensing their intent, I didn’t overthink and stopped their reckless move.

Gu Xuanyun’s probably got a bad temper and didn’t know it was me, so he kicked the door down… Fine, I’ll let it slide.

But I’m definitely extorting him later!!!

Glaring at the slammed-shut door, I thought viciously. Outside, it was dead silent—wonder what Gu Xuanyun’s feeling right now.

His expression must be priceless.
