Chapter 68: Noble Squad (VI)
I half-carried, half-supported Chriss, struggling for what felt like ages before finally getting her out of the restaurant and onto the battle-scarred street.
The once-smooth street was now pockmarked from the fierce fighting.
On one side, hundreds of blood zombie corpses littered the ground, remnants of the earlier clash.
As I dragged Chriss out, Nosen rushed over to help support his captain.
Meanwhile, the man with the giant shield shot Nico a glare, clearly annoyed at her carelessness for running off when Chriss was so weak and I was so scrawny.
Nico, in response, just stuck out her tongue playfully.
“Sixth Noble Squad, First Battle Group, Sixth Legion of the Northern Expeditionary Force, at your service, Captain Chriss. I’m Carter, the squad leader.”
After gesturing to his team, the towering man, nearly two meters tall and close to golden-rank strength, stepped forward, greeting Chriss and me with a respectful salute.
“…I’m Chriss, captain of Blackshine City’s First Heavy Infantry Brigade.”
Chriss weakly raised her hand in a return salute.
I stood there, a bit stunned—though I’d been casually calling them the noble squad, I didn’t expect that to actually be their official name!
…But it made sense. These guys were likely noble-born, so calling themselves a noble squad was fitting.
In a way, it wasn’t derogatory—it reminded these noble offspring of their status, spurring them to perform Մ
