Chapter 78: Dark Elves

“Jump!!!”

In an instant, Carter and the others’ faces changed, and Carter shouted to alert everyone.
Without thinking, I followed his cry, flipping over the railing and leaping out of the truck!

“Ouch!”

My body slammed onto the hard ground, rolling several times before stopping.
Pain shot through me instantly, and from the corner of my eye, I saw the entire noble squad jump from the truck, tumbling across the ground to a stop.

Even Nico and Daniel in the cab reacted just as fast, flinging open the doors and diving to one side.
The next moment, with a whistle and a flash of red light, the now-empty truck exploded into a blazing fireball with a deafening boom.

“Enemy attack! Rally to me!”

Carter scrambled to his feet first, shouting to gather his team.
The others quickly converged on him—I was no exception.

Though I was crawling and rolling to get there.
“Ow, my gosh, is today just destined to keep me from any peace?”

Grimacing through the sharp pain, I scrambled toward Carter’s massive frame for protection, cursing inwardly.
Today was clearly fated to be a miserable, chaotic mess.

I thought to myself, and as I neared Carter and the others, I spotted several dark figures in the distance.
Not because their gear was black—their skin itself was black!

“Blood for the Blood God, skulls for the Skull Throne! Praise Khorne, praise our Lord!”

Two squads let out chilling chants, the black warriors loudly praising their master before fanatically charging toward us!
“Dmn it! Dark elves!! Mengmeng, get over here!”

Katherine’s face paled, and she shouted urgently at me.
She didn’t need to say more—when I heard those cursed dark elves praising Khorne, one of the Chaos Gods, I knew exactly what we were dealing with.

Dark elves, fanatical worshippers of Khorne, one of the mightiest demonic Chaos Gods, were a race of bloodthirsty, murderous lunatics!
With pointed ears like regular elves, their once-agile forest prowess had been twisted into tools of slaughter.
Dark elves were Khorne’s agents in this world.

I’d tangled with these maniacs before, so I was scared shtless, hurrying my pace to reach Carter and the others.
“Phew… phew…”

Panicked, I found a small dirt mound and sat down.
Meanwhile, the charging dark elves began firing sharp arrows at us, and several wielded firearms, shooting relentlessly.

The noble squad didn’t rush to counterattack.
Instead, they took cover behind obstacles, calmly assessing the situation.

“Grenades ready!”

Carter, shielded by a rock and his giant shield, blocked several attacks before shouting.
In an instant, Nico, Emil, and Daniel each produced small, round objects in their hands.

“…What the heck are those?”

I stared at the items in their hands, momentarily baffled.
