Chapter 79: This is Pyroblast!

In the split second I was stunned, Nico and the others pulled the pins on those so-called grenades and hurled them at the enemy.
The dark elves spotted the objects flying toward them, and a few slashed them apart mid-air with their blades.
But several grenades still hit the ground.

“Boom!”

The moment they landed, a series of small explosions erupted, each as powerful as a standard fireball spell.
Several dark elves were thrown off their feet, but the rest of their frenzied charge didn’t slow down.

Watching the explosions, I was mildly surprised but not overly impressed.
The power was decent, effective against regular warriors, but clearly useless against silver-rank fighters.
It didn’t even match the threat of a proper fireball spell.

Still, the fact that ordinary people with no power could use these was significant enough.
I instantly grasped the nature of this new weapon, then shifted my attention to the two egg babies in my backpack.

I reached in, feeling their intact shells, and let out a sigh of relief.
After all that rolling and tumbling, I’d been worried about damaging them.
Thankfully, their shells were sturdy enough.

But there was a problem.
The repeated jolts and surrounding hostility had not only woken the egg babies but left them in a state of intense fear and anger.

“It’s okay, it’s okay. Mommy will protect you both… Just stay calm.”

I patted the egg babies, my gaze sharpening.
I’d planned to leave my past life behind, live peacefully, and call it a day.
But if you’re coming for me, don’t blame me for fighting back!

Steeling myself, a small fireball sparked in my palm.
At that moment, Carter glanced my way, clearly expecting me, the caster, to do my part.

No need for him to say more—after everything I’d been through today, I was beyond fed up.
Furious, I stood, aimed at the densest cluster of dark elves, and launched my fireball.

Like before, it was fist-sized when it left my hand, but as it streaked through the air, it swelled to an unusually large size.
“BOOM!”

The moment the fireball hit and exploded, a thunderous roar followed.
Compared to the grenades’ earlier blasts, they were nothing.

The fireball, powerful as an artillery shell, instantly took down five or six dark elves, flames consuming their lives.
Three more on the blast’s edge were caught in the shockwave, collapsing and unable to stand for a moment.

“…Is that a fireball spell?! That’s more like a flame burst!”

Both sides were stunned by the spell’s immense power.
As Nico shouted in disbelief, the dark elves’ charge faltered, some even looking around as if suspecting an artillery strike.

In reality, there was no artillery—just my single fireball spell.
“Let’s go!”

Carter snapped out of it, roaring as the noble squad instantly countercharged the dark elves!
The enemy outnumbered us heavily—staying defensive would only drag us down.
Carter made a split-second call: strike while they were shaken by my fireball!
