Chapter 38: Why don’t you come to tutor ?

Su Keke’s Suspicion

Su Keke lounged on her bed in a pink camisole nightgown, her makeup removed. Her exposed skin glistened from moisturizing body lotion applied after her shower, keeping her soft and sweet-smelling.

But after her skincare routine, she noticed Lin Lu hadn’t returned home. Growing wary, she made some inquiries before calling to “check in.”

“Where are you?”

“I’m in a state of… rice deficiency. Trained all day, tired and hungry, no dinner yet. So I’m at a classmate’s place for food and a quick bath to unwind.”

Lin Lu almost said he was at Mi Xue’s, even tempted to snap, “Why do you care?” But seeing Su Keke’s icy face on the video, he faltered, his words softening instinctively.

A Guilty Conscience

Despite claiming he didn’t care about her opinion, her call sparked a strange guilt, as if he’d been caught cheating.

“Heh, since when do you have friends? Aren’t you everyone’s enemy?” Su Keke’s smile didn’t reach her eyes, chilling him.

“Uh… an old acquaintance. Not worth mentioning.”

She kept up the cold smirk. “Still pretending?”

“Pretending what? This is ridiculous. I’m hanging up to finish my bath.”

Accusations Fly

Just as Lin Lu’s breath grew uneven, ready to end the call, an angry shout cut through.

“Are you cheating on me?!” Su Keke stood, stomping on Lin Lu’s pillow in frustration. “Don’t think I don’t know you’re at some woman’s place, probably about to do… that with her after your bath!”

Lin Lu was stunned. Su Keke knowing Mi Xue was normal—they’d met years ago, old gaming buddies. But how did she know he was at Mi Xue’s? Did she have some kind of cheat code?

A Wild Theory

A ridiculous thought struck him. Could this be a setup by both women? Mi Xue luring him in, gathering evidence, while Su Keke played the accuser, ready to lock him in a metaphorical cage for revenge—and to free herself.

He felt a flicker of fear. Zhuang Yan Yue promised to protect him, but what if she was lying?

What if all three were in on it?

The Truth Revealed

“Your roommate already spilled,” Su Keke sneered.

Lin Lu’s panic eased. He’d been paranoid, surrounded by ex-girlfriends lately, always bracing for betrayal. Su Keke hadn’t even mentioned Mi Xue—he’d imagined it himself, his guilt doing the talking.

He knew his roommates, like Fat Bro, would jump at adding Su Keke on WeChat. She was their idol, perfect for bragging rights. But selling him out so easily? Where was the loyalty?

A Jealous Outburst

Su Keke’s face was expressionless, her voice cold. “They said you left the gathering with a girl who’s almost as pretty as me. A young professor, promoted from PhD. Impressive, huh… Who is she? Doesn’t a professor have any shame, stealing someone’s man? Did she pass her ethics review?”

Lin Lu knew she was just scared of losing face. She didn’t even realize the “vixen” was Mi Xue. Fat Bro and the others likely didn’t know Su Keke and Mi Xue were acquainted, so they hadn’t named her.

In his mind, he corrected them—Mi Xue wasn’t “almost” as pretty as Su Keke. They were equally stunning.

Clearing the Air

“You’re overthinking. You know Mi Xue. Would she really try to steal me away?”

Su Keke’s wide eyes froze. “Mi… Xue?”

“Yeah, the Mi Xue you met in high school.”

“Oh, never mind then.”

“I didn’t go looking for her, just so you know.” Lin Lu stressed he hadn’t broken their agreement.

A Calculated Encounter

Su Keke didn’t doubt him, but their “coincidental” meeting at the gathering screamed Mi Xue’s planning.

Compared to Yi Diandian or Zhuang Yan Yue, Su Keke was less wary of Mi Xue. As Lin Lu said, her shy, gentle nature made it hard to imagine her scheming to seduce anyone. It felt out of character.

Past Pains

Su Keke had seen Mi Xue reduced to tears by Lin Lu before. Though she was a victim too, she thought Mi Xue had it worse. Her own family was far better off, and she could at least snap back at Lin Lu. Mi Xue, however, always obeyed…

Once, when Lin Lu forgot his breath mints for a date with Su Keke, he called Mi Xue to deliver them from her bag. If it were Su Keke, she’d have thrown a fit!

A Pure Motive

So Su Keke didn’t lump Mi Xue with Yi Diandian or Zhuang Yan Yue. Others might have ulterior motives, but Mi Xue was likely just a pure avenger. Tonight’s dinner was probably part of her revenge plan.

“Eat and come back early. Don’t linger too late, got it? Mi Xue’s feelings for you… never mind. Just keep your distance from her, or you might not know how you end up dead.”

Her tone shifted completely, even carrying a hint of concern.

An Unexpected Ally

Lin Lu knew Mi Xue might lower Su Keke’s guard, but he didn’t expect it to work this well.

He’d noticed before that Mi Xue held a unique place among his exes. Some were friends, others enemies, but Mi Xue floated outside their circle. Everyone treated her politely, perhaps because they pitied her or saw her as harmless.

A Shared Fear

“You think I need reminding? Her attitude tonight is so confusing, scarier than you. I don’t want to drop dead out of nowhere.”

“Oh? So you’re not scared of me anymore, huh? Believe me, one night while you’re sleeping, I’ll give you a stab.” Su Keke flashed a dangerous smile, making Lin Lu’s hair stand on end. He quickly ended the call.

A New Message

Just as he was about to pocket his phone and soak, another WeChat message arrived—from a high school girl who often hired him for gaming.

Opening it, he saw a high-res photo of legs in white stockings, with a glimpse of a school uniform skirt. Clearly taken during her school day.

Lin Lu was baffled. No “you there?” opener anymore? Just a suggestive photo to start? Did she know he was bathing and send it as… material?
