Chapter 24: A sudden inspiration is worse than a superior skill.

“How is it you?!”

Ling Chenxi’s voice made Lu Zhao’s heart skip a beat, his blood seeming to freeze instantly.

In a panic, he tried to push her away, but she was prepared—how could she give up such a prime position?

His hands barely touched her shoulders before they were seized and pinned beside his head with an irresistible force, so strong his wrists ached.

In the darkness, he couldn’t see her expression, but her heavy breathing suggested she was quite excited.

A gentle yet clearly restrained voice murmured in his ear, “Why wouldn’t it be me? I’ve been following you for a while.”

“You… you’re a freak!” Lu Zhao was both shocked and furious.

When he learned Ling Cang was coming, his first thought was that Ling Chenxi had orchestrated it.

At the airport, he’d been extremely cautious, observing everything, not letting his guard down even when Ling Cang appeared alone.

So why hadn’t he noticed her?

“Where were you hiding?”

Though he knew she couldn’t see, Lu Zhao glared at her.

As if sensing his gaze, Ling Chenxi felt a surge of pleasure, her hidden destructive urges greatly satisfied.

Even her voice changed slightly, “Hiding? I wasn’t hiding. I arrived at the airport an hour before Ling Cang and watched you the whole time.”

“You!”

Lu Zhao was so exasperated by Ling Chenxi he was at a loss for words. Her persistence was beyond his imagination.

He still couldn’t figure out why this woman was so fixated on him.

Feeling a slick, soft tongue glide over his ear, Lu Zhao’s body shuddered, but he clenched his teeth, refusing to make a sound.

His reaction only made Ling Chenxi want to do more.

“Aunt… Aunt Ling, can I ask one last question?”

As the saying goes, if life screws you over and you can’t fight it, you might as well enjoy it.

At this point, he had no means of resistance left.

Shout for help? No way. If Yan Qingxin or Ling Cang found out…

Lu Zhao couldn’t bear to let them come into conflict.

Seeing he seemed to have given up, Ling Chenxi, pleased, lightly kissed his cheek.

“Go ahead, ask.”

“Why does it have to be me? You know if Ling Cang or Qingxin find out, none of us will come out of this okay. So why?”

After asking, Lu Zhao felt the grip on his wrists loosen slightly, but she didn’t let go.

In the dark, they fell into a brief, tense silence, only their slightly heavy breathing audible.

“I need a child. A child to inherit my position.”

Lu Zhao couldn’t see her face, but her voice suggested sadness.

Why sadness?

“Aunt Ling, are you hiding some kind of hardship?”

Lu Zhao suddenly recalled Ling Cang’s odd reaction at a gathering when asked about an heir.

Another long silence followed.

Realizing he might have touched a soft spot, Lu Zhao decided to press further. Maybe he could convince her, make her abandon this idea.

“Aunt Ling, if you’re really struggling with something, you can tell me. I won’t tell anyone. Let me help you, okay? It’s better than us doing this, right?”

“There’s no such thing as a secret that doesn’t leak. If this gets out, I don’t care about myself, but you’re different.

It’d ruin you. Even if you don’t care about yourself, think about Ling Cang. She’s so fragile—wouldn’t she do something drastic if she found out?”

Lu Zhao deliberately exaggerated the consequences, hoping to dissuade her.

But he didn’t know this woman, didn’t understand her obsession.

Something he said not only missed the mark but seemed to anger her.

He felt her grip tighten on his wrists again.

“Ling…”

Before he could finish, a pair of soft lips silenced him.

Even through the blanket, he felt intense pressure on his chest, his legs pinned and immobile.

Ling Chenxi’s faint, elegant scent flooded his senses through his mouth and nose.

Lu Zhao felt trapped in a web—soft yet unyielding, binding him tighter the more he struggled.

Her tongue stirred, the sensations from his mouth making him dizzy, the prolonged kiss leaving his brain oxygen-starved, his mind foggy.

Noticing his resistance weakening, Ling Chenxi pinned both his hands above his head with one hand.

Her other hand lifted the blanket, tugged open his bathrobe, and touched his chest.

The cold touch of her fingertips snapped him back to a sliver of clarity.

Turning his head to escape her lips, he gasped, “Ha… Aunt Ling, no, really, we can’t. Ling Cang and Qingxin are right next door.”

Ling Chenxi bit his collarbone, mumbling unclearly, “Doesn’t that make it more thrilling?”

Lu Zhao was speechless. This woman’s perversity rivaled Yan Ruyue’s.

Ling Chenxi slightly lifted her leg, tossing the blanket aside. Lu Zhao tried to move, but her legs pinned him again.

This time, he could feel she wasn’t wearing anything.

The direct contact made Ling Chenxi’s body soften slightly, but even so, she was stronger than him.

Lu Zhao gave up completely. They were one squat away from the point of no return.

As it reached this critical moment, Ling Chenxi’s eager voice came, “Little brother, you’ll understand everything later. I’ll make it up to you. Don’t blame your big sister, okay?”

“Sigh…”

Hearing Lu Zhao’s resigned sigh, Ling Chenxi positioned herself.

Click. Click.

Just as everything was about to be sealed, the sound of the door handle turning rang out.

Lu Zhao finally remembered why he’d left the door unlocked.

Urgently, he whispered, “Get up quick, Qingxin’s here!”

Startled by the sound, Ling Chenxi’s mind went blank for a moment.

Lu Zhao broke free of her grip and pushed her off. “Hurry, find a place to hide. Qingxin can’t find you!”

“Ah? Oh!”

After a flurry of panic, Lu Zhao fixed his bathrobe, fumbled in the dark to the door, and opened it.

Yan Qingxin complained, “Baby, didn’t I tell you to leave the door unlocked? What, don’t want me to come over?”

“I… I…”

Lu Zhao was caught in a dilemma.

Let her in? If she found out, it’d be over.

Send her away? There was an even bigger problem in the room.

Seeing his rare hesitation and noticing the dark room, Yan Qingxin said suspiciously, “Baby, you’re not hiding someone in there, are you?”

Lu Zhao: “!!!”

Ling Chenxi: “…”

He’d forgotten—his girlfriend’s sixth sense was practically god-level accurate.
