Chapter 3: This kiss is like a hammer hitting your front teeth

The coffee shop.
Bai Yao, as per the Greedy Witch’s request, treated her to a cup of coffee.
“Alright, tell me why you’re here.”
Every witch possesses world-shattering power, unlike magical girls.
Witches are born at the peak of magical power.
Magical girls, however, must train and strive step by step to grow, eventually becoming capable of standing on their own.
Once a witch acts, the entire society trembles in turmoil.
Bai Yao had to keep the Greedy Witch in check!
Even though she was no longer a magical girl, the desire to protect everyone still burned in her heart.
“Do you really want to know?” The Greedy Witch looked at Bai Yao with a faint smile.
She didn’t answer directly, her tone teasing.
One hand propped up her face on the table, while the other gently stirred her coffee with a spoon.
“Of course.”
“Well then, since you want to know, I can tell you, but I have a small condition. If you can meet it, I’ll let you in on it.”
“Didn’t we agree? I buy you coffee, and you tell me.”
Bai Yao nearly gritted her teeth saying this, wary of letting her emotions provoke the Greedy Witch.
“My dear Miss Iris~ Do you really trust a witch’s words? Have you misunderstood something?”
The Greedy Witch’s faint smile turned into a playful smirk, sparking some anger in Bai Yao.
“Of course, my words aren’t entirely false. Whether you believe me is up to you.”
The Greedy Witch’s words left Bai Yao deeply conflicted.
She had no idea if the Greedy Witch would keep her promise.
If she didn’t, agreeing to her condition might put Bai Yao in danger.
But if she did, and Bai Yao refused, she’d miss out on crucial information about why the Greedy Witch was here.
Should she agree or not?
Bai Yao hesitated repeatedly, finally making up her mind.
If I don’t step into hell, who will?
“Fine, I agree, but please keep your promise.”
“Of course, my dear Miss Iris.”
The Greedy Witch took a small sip of her coffee, slightly bitter despite the sugar.
She frowned slightly, looking at the dark brown liquid in her cup.
Coffee—she didn’t like it.
“My condition is simple: kiss me, and I’ll tell you why I’m here.”
The Greedy Witch tapped her coffee-moistened red lips.
Her words hit Bai Yao’s mind like a thunderbolt.
What did she just say?!
Bai Yao’s eyes widened slightly, unsure.
“You said… kiss you?”
Bai Yao’s face stiffened. Was this really the Greedy Witch’s condition?
What kind of joke was this!
Bai Yao would sooner believe the Greedy Witch wouldexpecting her to kill someone than this!
“You seem surprised by my condition, maybe even disbelieving?”
“No need to worry. If kissing me is easier for you than watching this place get razed to the ground, I don’t mind lifting a finger.”
The Greedy Witch crossed her legs, hands cupping her cheeks, looking at Bai Yao with amusement.
She wanted to see if the kind-hearted Bai Yao would act to save innocent lives.
The answer was obvious.
Her dear Miss Iris, pure and flawless, was just and kind.
Even after being stripped of her magical girl status, she still faced the Greedy Witch with a heart set on protecting everyone.
“Are you threatening me?”
“Threatening?” The Greedy Witch’s delicate brows furrowed; she disliked that word. “I’m not threatening you; I’m just stating facts.”
“Meet my condition, and in a way, you’ll be pleasing me.”
“If I’m in a good mood, and you beg a little, I might just reconsider lifting that finger.”
The Greedy Witch glanced symbolically at her slender fingers, then fixed her gaze on Bai Yao’s face, which was barely hiding her anger.
“You’re deceiving me again.”
“Deceiving? No, no, how could this be deception? After all, I’m giving you the power to choose, my dear Miss Iris.”
Bai Yao’s expression was grim; she was stuck in an impossible situation.
The Greedy Witch could go back on her word, and so could Bai Yao.
But Bai Yao had no leverage to break her promise!
Even if the Greedy Witch was deceiving her, she had to meet the condition!
As long as there was a sliver of hope to save lives, Bai Yao wouldn’t give up!
“Phew~”
Bai Yao took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself.
Ten seconds later, her face was bright red.
She stood, hands bracing the table, slowly leaning toward the Greedy Witch.
The Greedy Witch stared straight at her.
As the distance between them closed, the Greedy Witch could faintly feel Bai Yao’s tense breaths brushing against her face.
“Could you close your eyes?”
“Of course.”
The Greedy Witch closed her eyes, a smile playing on her lips.
Compared to Bai Yao’s flushed face and nervous heart.
The Greedy Witch was utterly calm, as if being kissed was a mundane matter.
But appearances can deceive; beneath her calm exterior, the Greedy Witch’s heart burned with excitement.
Bai Yao looked at the Greedy Witch’s lips, closed her eyes, and quickly leaned forward for a peck.
The kiss wasn’t gentle—it hit the Greedy Witch’s lips hard, like a hammer striking her front teeth.
It kind of hurt.
“Alright, can you tell me now?”
Bai Yao quickly sat back down, head lowered, her voice fast and soft.
“It’s simple. I came here just to see if my dear Miss Iris would cry after losing her magical girl status, or if she needed some sisterly comfort.”
Bai Yao’s expression shifted, shocked at how the Greedy Witch knew she was no longer a magical girl.
But she quickly calmed herself; the Witch might just be fishing for information.
“It seems you don’t need my comfort. Looks like the flowers I prepared are useless.”
The Greedy Witch’s graceful hand flipped, revealing a beautiful, blood-red spider lily in her palm.
She gently held the flower out to Bai Yao.
“How about taking it as a thank-you for meeting my condition? I hope you’ll like it.”
Before Bai Yao could reach for it, the spider lily appeared in her hand out of thin air.
“I don’t want your things.”
“You don’t have the power to refuse me.” The Greedy Witch stood slightly, ready to leave. “This coffee shop is lovely, isn’t it?”
Bai Yao sensed another threat in her words.
“Whether you like it or not, I hope you’ll keep it. Perhaps, when you face a problem, calling on it might give you the strength to solve it.”
“Well, it’s getting late, my dear Miss Iris… or rather, my dear Miss Bai Yao. This meeting was quite pleasant.”
The Greedy Witch slowly walked past Bai Yao, her hand gently brushing Bai Yao’s cheek.
“That kiss was a bit rough~ I hope the next one will be gentler.”
