Chapter 60: There will be a day when everything will end
The three arrived at the Flower Shop shortly after Amethyst’s return.
They looked even more battered, especially Venus, drenched in blood, looking near death.
Yet her vibrant energy suggested she was far from done.
“You’re alive?”
Amethyst was stunned. She hadn’t broken through Natasha’s defenses and had been badly injured herself.
Especially after sensing that immense magic surge, she knew clearly.
A transcendent-level Venus with two rookies had no chance of survival.
That sky-piercing magic had even unnerved Amethyst.
It was after that surge that Natasha began attacking her desperately.
Amethyst assumed the support mission had failed, so she retreated when she couldn’t break through.
After all, if they were dead, her going was pointless.
Support was only meaningful when those being supported were alive.
Unlike the flowers’ pure kindness, the crystals’ light was more rational.
Hearing Amethyst’s words, the three froze.
Realizing her mistake, Amethyst hurriedly apologized.
“Sorry, I mean—how did you survive?”
“No, no, I mean, you shouldn’t have been able to survive.”
“Or rather, I want to ask…”
Amethyst grew flustered, stumbling over her words.
“Senior Amethyst, we understand. Let’s report what happened first.”
Venus smiled, stopping Amethyst’s attempts to explain. She knew it wasn’t intentional.
Facing a calamity-level Arcana was one thing, but two witches?
Surviving was a miracle.
They gathered around, Little White nestled in Ran Huang’s arms.
“I’ll go first.” Amethyst, wary of misspeaking again, volunteered. “On my way to support, I ran into Judgment Natasha. During our fight, I felt a massive magic surge from the support site—a strike that tore through the sky, leaving a black-purple rift for five seconds.”
“Then… I thought you were all…”
Amethyst lowered her head. Everyone knew what came next.
She thought they’d died and returned.
“It’s okay, Senior, no need to blame yourself.”
Venus smiled, comforting her. Amethyst was just dispatched to help.
This incident wasn’t her responsibility.
Next, Venus recounted their experience from start to finish.
The explanation took a full hour, with half of it being Feifei Bai and Xiaoxiao Ye gushing about the witches.
How powerful they were, how beautiful they were.
“You don’t know, the witch, she…”
“Stop, stop, stop!”
Ran Huang held up a hand to halt Feifei’s worshipful speech.
“Are you a magical girl or a witch fangirl?”
Ran Huang wanted to crack open Feifei’s head to see what was inside.
Witches weren’t objects of casual admiration—they were far scarier than the Tarot Society or pollutants.
No one wanted to tangle with them.
“Of course I’m a magical girl! I just think witches are so cool, it makes me feel like I could do it too.”
Feifei, a gaming enthusiast, had the classic delusion of thinking she could pull off a pro’s slick moves.
In games, losing was no big deal.
In reality, one misstep could mean eternal doom.
Ran Huang was baffled by Feifei’s oddly accurate praise of witches. Did she not know they were enemies of magical girls?
Considering Feifei was a rookie, Ran Huang let it slide.
After exchanging intel, Amethyst prepared to leave.
Before going, she handed Little White a document and warned Feifei.
“Don’t look directly at witches or get close. If you meet one, prioritize escape.”
Escape sounded harsh.
But it was invaluable.
Amethyst summoned her cloaked mech, stepping in as it melded with her body.
Magic-powered jets flared behind the mech, propelling it into the sky.
As Amethyst departed, Little White opened the letter. It detailed the reinstatement of Ran Huang and Shu Long’s magical girl duties.
It also noted Venus could return to her city, with rewards for her contributions to City A during her assignment.
“Ran Huang, Shu Long, great news—you’re reinstated!”
Little White happily waved the paper, nearly as big as itself.
“Really?!”
Ran Huang snatched it, confirming with her own eyes. It was true.
“Huh? Back to my old overtime life?”
Unlike Ran Huang’s excitement, Shu Long wasn’t thrilled.
Lazing around had been so nice!
They huddled over the letter, and Venus saw she could return home.
“Looks like it’s time for me to go too.”
“Big Sis Venus, can’t you stay a few more days?”
Feifei was reluctant. They hadn’t spent much time together, but sharing life-or-death moments had bonded them.
“Yeah, a bit longer wouldn’t hurt, right?”
Xiaoxiao also wanted Venus to stay—they hadn’t learned her tricks yet.
“I’d love to, but my teammates are waiting.”
Venus ruffled their heads.
“Oh, okay.”
“Fine then.”
The two were a bit disappointed, but Venus did need to go.
Venus was an unlucky magical girl—every mission here involved witches.
Each time, she faced life-threatening danger. She was almost scared to stay.
But she loved everyone here.
The strict Ran Huang, the laid-back Shu Long, the adorable rookies, and Little White, the leader of City A’s Flower Shop.
She’d never forget them.
“Venus, thanks for protecting our city. If you ever need us, just call.”
Little White hopped from Ran Huang’s arms to the table, shouting as Venus headed to the door.
“I will.”
Venus leaped, soaring into the sky.
Little White suddenly remembered something, rushing outside.
“Wait, Venus, what’s your real name?”
“When we fight side by side again, I’ll tell you. For now, just call me Venus!”
Her powerful voice echoed from the sky as Little White watched her go.
Behind Little White stood four magical girls, all gazing at Venus, flying toward the sun.
