Chapter 51: The President’s Plan for Revenge
A Hasty Lunch Break
During lunch break, Yu Li realized she’d forgotten to grab a drink. Rushing out of the classroom to remedy this, she moved quickly.
“Ow!”
Yu Li clutched her forehead in pain. Her luck seemed off today—she’d managed to bump into someone again. The thought left her exasperated.
“You okay, little one? Your forehead alright?”
Opening her eyes, Yu Li saw none other than the student council president she’d met that morning.
“Ugh…”
She was truly speechless now. Was this woman some kind of magnet for collisions? Twice in one day, with the same person no less. Yu Li’s lips twitched involuntarily.
“I’m fine.”
“Good to hear. But, little one, you’re in this class? I’ve never seen you before… a transfer student?”
The student council president’s sudden friendliness made Yu Li wary. Eager to avoid unnecessary interaction, she steered the conversation back on track.
“Yes, that’s right. President, do you have business with our class? I can pass on a message.”
“Haha, almost forgot! Could you call Ai Xinglan for me?”
“…Got it.”
Yu Li turned back to Ai Xinglan. Seeing her return empty-handed, Ai Xinglan blinked in surprise.
“Didn’t you go to buy water?”
“Yeah, that was the plan, but I ran into the student council president. She’s here for you, Xiao Ai.”
“Ugh…”
Ai Xinglan’s expression mirrored Yu Li’s when she’d first seen the president again.
With a sigh, Ai Xinglan closed her lunchbox reluctantly and headed to the door, Yu Li trailing behind.
An Awkward Reunion
“President, welcome back.”
“Thanks, Xiao Xinglan.”
“If it’s about a celebration, we can plan it with the student council later—”
Before Ai Xinglan could finish, the president interrupted with a smile. “No, no, Xiao Xinglan, you know exactly why I’m here, don’t you?”
“Tch.”
Ai Xinglan clicked her tongue in irritation, her reluctance clear. She knew she could no longer cover for Lan Yi.
“So, Xiao Xinglan, let’s head to the student council room—”
Mid-sentence, the president glanced at Yu Li, who stood silently beside Ai Xinglan, a faint trace of displeasure on her face, her hand gently tugging at Ai Xinglan’s sleeve.
“Hm… come to the student council room after lunch.”
Quickly reading the room, the president adjusted her words, flashed Yu Li a smile, and left without hesitation.
Yu Li blinked, watching the president’s retreating figure. Her impression of the woman was rapidly improving.
Thud—
“Hey, you okay, junior?”
“I…”
Yu Li stared, dumbfounded, at the scene unfolding. The president, walking away, was suddenly bumped into by another first-year student—a near-perfect repeat of Yu Li’s earlier mishap.
Yet the president showed no impatience, offering the same gentle smile, causing the flustered girl to blush furiously.
Once the girl recovered, the president left with a smile, unfazed, as if such incidents were routine.
“Xiao Ai, is she always like that?”
Ai Xinglan, standing beside Yu Li, paused briefly before replying with a sigh: “Yeah, this happens multiple times a day. It’s like she has some special aura—always getting caught in these accidents. Some girls even do it on purpose to stage a ‘chance encounter.’”
Ai Xinglan spoke as if she knew all too well, a headache evident in her tone.
“Sigh… let’s eat. Trouble’s coming later…”
Thinking of the president’s earlier words, Ai Xinglan grew visibly annoyed. With her personality, she definitely wouldn’t let things slide so easily.
Observing Ai Xinglan’s frustration, Yu Li stayed quiet for once, lost in thought.
A Tense Meeting
In contrast to Ai Xinglan’s irritation, Zi Xing returned to the student council room with calm composure. Inside, Lan Yi was quietly eating her lunch, head lowered, radiating tension.
Seeing Lan Yi acting like an ostrich, Zi Xing spoke with a hint of exasperation: “Does our little Lan Yi not welcome her president’s return?”
“N-no, that’s not it!”
“Then why the long face? I’m not going to eat you~”
Lan Yi looked up, puzzled. “You’re… not going to do anything?”
“Hm? Why the sudden question?”
Seeing Zi Xing’s carefree demeanor, Lan Yi let out a relieved breath, her gentle smile returning as she shook her head lightly. “Sorry, President, it’s nothing.”
As their conversation continued, the door swung open. Ai Xinglan had arrived, having wolfed down Yu Li’s cooking without savoring it.
“President, Senior Lan Yi,” Ai Xinglan greeted, taking her seat.
Lan Yi tilted her head, confused. “Xiao Xinglan, why are you here so early today?”
“Because… the president called me.”
“President?”
Both turned to Zi Xing. With everyone present, her gentle smile vanished, replaced by a stern expression as she tapped her fingers on the table.
“Judging by your reactions, you two are still trying to hide it from me.”
“Hide something? What do you mean…” Lan Yi attempted one last deflection, while Ai Xinglan sighed in resignation.
“I saw the posts online while I was away. They were full of slander against our little Lan Yi.”
“I had the school delete them immediately.”
Seeing Zi Xing already knew everything, Ai Xinglan sighed and explained: “President, the issue’s been resolved. Lin Mu has been expelled as punishment.”
“Resolved? From what I know, the one who slandered Lan Yi hasn’t faced any consequences!” Zi Xing’s brow furrowed, her tone rising with agitation.
Every member of the student council was handpicked by Zi Xing. She knew them well, and for someone like Lan Yi, such slander was devastating. She couldn’t tolerate the mastermind escaping without punishment.
“President…”
“President, I’m fine now. Someone… helped me. So, let’s just let this go!” Lan Yi’s voice was firm with resolve.
Zi Xing studied Lan Yi, noting she genuinely seemed unaffected by the slander. Though she didn’t know who had helped, she was sincerely grateful.
Still, Zi Xing shook her head. “I won’t let someone who slandered you walk away scot-free.”
“But, President!”
Lan Yi tried to protest, but Zi Xing only smiled gently, patting her head.
“Little Lan Yi, you’ve been through a lot.”
Feeling the warmth of Zi Xing’s hand, Lan Yi froze, words failing her.
“So, don’t worry… leave it to me. I’ll make sure they pay.”
