Chapter 66: Yu Li vs. Fu Qingyue

Purple Star’s Return

Purple Star had returned to the student council room.
She stood silently by Lan Yi’s side, her mood visibly low.
Her head was lowered, unable to face the other members of the student council.

In a soft voice, she said, “I’m sorry, Little Lan Yi… I couldn’t win.”

Seeing Purple Star’s deep guilt, Lan Yi gently tapped her forehead.
Purple Star instinctively raised her head, meeting Lan Yi’s gentle smile.

“But the president didn’t lose either, right?”

Lan Yi comforted the dejected Purple Star with a soft tone.
The moment the match was declared a draw, Lan Yi knew Purple Star would feel guilty.

So, before Purple Star returned, Lan Yi had adjusted her own emotions.
She wanted to ease Purple Star’s burden, even just a little.

But… despite her efforts, a trace of worry still flickered in Lan Yi’s eyes.

Ai Xinglan’s Confusion

Ai Xinglan watched the two from the side, unsure of what to say.
She hadn’t gone with Yu Li because she needed to fulfill her duties as a student council member.

But something else struck her as odd.
If she remembered correctly, the next match was supposed to be Lan Yi’s.
So why wasn’t Lan Yi moving?

Instinctively, Ai Xinglan glanced toward the arena.
In an instant, her pupils widened uncontrollably, her face filled with shock.

“Yu Li…?”

The Arena Encounter

A black-haired girl stepped lightly onto the arena, her movements graceful.
A faint smile played on her lips, like that of a pure and charming girl-next-door.
Seeing Fu Qingyue standing across from her, she waved casually, as if it were any other day.

“Hey, Little Qingyue… missed me?”

Yu Li greeted Fu Qingyue as if they weren’t on an arena, as if they weren’t opponents.

“Li… Bao…?” Fu Qingyue’s voice was soft, filled with disbelief.
The figure before her wasn’t an opponent but the girl she thought of day and night.
This felt like a despairing nightmare.

A breeze brushed Fu Qingyue’s cheek, pulling her back to reality.
The black-haired girl didn’t vanish with the wind.
She stood there, smiling, still looking at her.

Finally, Fu Qingyue understood—this wasn’t an illusion but her reality.

In that moment, it was as if all her strength had been drained.
Her desire to win vanished the instant she saw Yu Li.
All she wanted to know was, “Why…?”

“Huh? The first thing you ask is why?”
Yu Li touched her chin, frowning and closing her eyes in mock distress.

“Hmm, why indeed…?”
She seemed lost in thought, but soon her eyes opened, a delighted smile spreading across her face.
“Because it’s fun!”

The Clash Begins

As Yu Li spoke, she suddenly leaned forward.
A fiery dagger materialized in her hand.
With a burst of speed, she closed the distance to Fu Qingyue in an instant.

Before Fu Qingyue could react, Yu Li swung the fiery dagger without hesitation.

Clang—

The flame-forged dagger was effortlessly blocked by the wind shield surrounding Fu Qingyue.
It couldn’t affect her in the slightest.

Seeing this, Yu Li leaped back to a safe distance.

“Oh! Contestant Yu Li takes the initiative, swiftly closing in and delivering a stunning strike!
But such an attack can’t bridge the gap in levels.
As a beginner, Contestant Yu Li can’t harm Contestant Fu Qingyue in the slightest.
Faced with such a disparity, what strategy will Contestant Yu Li employ next?”
The commentator’s passionate voice rang out as Yu Li attacked.

Yu Li glanced at the fiery dagger in her hand, now significantly diminished.
With a wry smile, she reinforced it with more flames.

“So tough,” Yu Li muttered lightly, though her face still carried an easygoing smile.

A Shattered Halo

Though the strike caused no real damage, in a way, Yu Li’s attack was a resounding success.

Crack—

While her dagger couldn’t break Fu Qingyue’s wind shield, it shattered something else.

The silver halo glowing above Fu Qingyue’s head developed countless tiny cracks.
Fu Qingyue herself wasn’t faring much better.
She clutched her arm, her body trembling slightly, her eyes filled with emotions Yu Li couldn’t decipher.

“Contestant Yu Li’s attack not only failed to make an impact but also damaged her own weapon.
With such a massive advantage, what will Contestant Fu Qingyue choose… wait, she’s standing still?”
The commentator blinked in disbelief.

“Uh… it seems the relationship between these two is…”

Before the commentator could finish, a black fireball hurtled toward him.
Caught off guard, he barely dodged it, stumbling awkwardly.

“Sorry, sorry, my hand slipped~”
Yu Li stuck out her tongue playfully, as if apologizing to the commentator.

But her heterochromatic eyes—one gold, one silver—glinted with a dark edge, making the commentator break out in a cold sweat.

“Still, you’d better not say anything reckless, teacher, or who knows what might happen~”

A Private Arena

Yu Li ignored the commentator after that, turning her gaze back to Fu Qingyue.
Seeing her trembling, Yu Li shook her head helplessly.

“That teacher really is annoying…”

As she spoke, Yu Li raised her hand.
Suddenly, massive black flames erupted from the edges of the arena, enveloping it entirely.

“There, now it’s just us again, isn’t it, Little Qingyue?
You think this is better too, right?”

Yu Li’s lips curved into a gentle smile as she effortlessly manipulated the flames to block the audience’s view.

As for how Yu Li, a mere beginner, could wield such immense spiritual power?
It was because the trembling girl across from her, on the verge of breaking, was supplying it endlessly.

“Anything else you want to say, Little Qingyue?
If not, I’m going to make my move~”
Yu Li asked softly, as if discussing something trivial.

Fu Qingyue’s Resolve

The flames blocked out the noise of the outside world.
Fu Qingyue could only hear Yu Li’s voice.
Her body trembled instinctively, but she forced herself to look up.
Her hoarse voice broke the silence as she stared at the still-smiling Yu Li.

“Why…?”

Yu Li tilted her head, looking at Fu Qingyue with confusion.
Then, with a hint of exasperation, she said, “Really, asking such boring questions…”

She moved to act, but Fu Qingyue’s stubborn gaze stopped her.
Those eyes were filled with defiance.

“Sigh…”
Yu Li let out a soft sigh, dispelling the fiery dagger.
The smile faded from her face, replaced by an icy expression.

She looked up, her demeanor shifting as she spoke softly, “Because, no matter what, Lan Yi could never defeat you, Little Qingyue, could she?”
