Chapter 40: Got Doxxed, Meow?
A Suspicious Slime
Little Red Riding Hood suddenly suspected that her big sister had deliberately arranged this slime monster to trick her.
Consequently, her gaze toward Xiao Xi carried a trace of irritation.
She knew the Association housed numerous monsters. Given the short timeframe, her sister likely acquired the slime from there.
Since it came from the Association, her sister probably smuggled it out. After all, why would the higher-ups hand it over?
Furthermore, Sirius, like her, held only D-rank magical girl status. Bringing a monster to a public place seemed reckless. Did her sister really believe nothing could go wrong despite her low rank?
Confrontation in the CafĂŠ
Once the ordinary customers cleared out of the cafĂŠ, Little Red Riding Hood fixed her eyes on Xiao Xi and spoke in an eerie tone.
âWolfie, isnât it a bit too perfect that my sister gets replaced by a slime on the exact day I invite you out?â
Xiao Xiâs hands paused. âI get that youâre worried about your sister, but letâs handle this monster first. The Association will surely track her down.â
âReally?â Little Red Riding Hood leaned in closer. âHonestly, I donât think I need their help. Iâm pretty sure I know where my sister is.â
âHaha⌠thatâs great if youâve got a clueâŚâ
Xiao Xi struggled to keep her composure. She hadnât anticipated this perfect plan unraveling so quickly.
She couldnât claim her sister might have suffered a slime attack and been replaced. Xiao Keke would never buy such a convenient excuse, especially since the timing felt far too suspicious.
âExactly, itâs like sheâs both far away and right hereââ
At those words, Xiao Xi surrendered. Clearly, this brat wouldnât fall for any more tricks today. SighâŚ
An Unexpected Call
Xiao Keke grew tired of playing along with Xiao Xiâs act. Her voice took on that eerie tone again.
âYou think so too, donât you, bigâŚâ
However, just as Xiao Keke prepared to expose everything, her phone buzzed. She nearly hung up, but after seeing the caller, she hesitated and answered the video call.
âLittle Red Riding Hood, itâs me.â
When Miss L appeared on the screen, Little Red Riding Hood snapped to attention. âMinister L, whatâs up?â
The Associationâs Revelation
âHereâs the deal,â Miss L began. âSome magical girls found a girl near South Street, knocked out by magical hypnosis, and brought her to the Association.â
âCoincidentally, while checking her details, I realized sheâs likely your sister, so Iâm giving you a heads-up.â
The phoneâs camera shifted to a hospital bed. Miss L stood in the medical room, where an unconscious girl layâshe looked identical to Xiao Xi.
âBig sister?â Little Red Riding Hood froze, her voice tinged with worry. âIs it really her?â
âWho else would it be?â Miss L replied sharply. âWhy would I trick you?â
âChances are, a slime or similar monster attacked your sister and knocked her out. There might even be a slime out there now, posing as her.â
âFortunately, sheâs unharmed, just unconscious. Come to the Association and pick her up. Since itâs your sister, we donât need to hunt down her family.â
A Tangled Web of Doubt
Relieved to hear her sister was safe, Little Red Riding Hoodâs tension eased. Yet, as she glanced at the unconscious girl on the screen and then at Sirius beside her, doubts crept in.
If her sister rested at the Association, then who was this Sirius next to her?
But waitâif the sister in the cafĂŠ was a slime, could the one on the bed also be fake? Still, Minister L had called her, and Minister L had no reason to deceive her.
How could Minister L possibly conspire with her shut-in sister to fool her? They surely didnât know each other. Her sister wouldnât even cross paths with someone like Minister L.
So, was this all just a wild coincidence?
Perhaps a monster attacked her sister at work, and a slime assumed her identity to show up at the cafĂŠ.
Meanwhile, Xiao Xiâs emotions swung from despair and readiness to confess, to confusion, and finally to quick thinking as she resumed her act.
âSo, any news about your sister?â
âUmâŚâ Little Red Riding Hood studied Xiao Xi with a conflicted look. âSorry, I need to check on my sister first. Can you handle things here?â
Xiao Xi flashed a dependable smile and nodded.
Xiao Xiâs Quick Escape
After confirming Little Red Riding Hood had left, Xiao Xi grabbed the slime and dashed to the bathroom. In a flash, she transformed into [Morning Star] mode.
Her magical aura, no longer restrained, surged powerfully. She had to reach the Association before Xiao Keke, or her carefully crafted lie would collapse.
Miss Lâs Upper Hand
Minutes later, Miss L shook her head at the breathless Xiao Xi in her office.
âNot bad, A-Xing. You moved fast. If your little sister returned and discovered the âsisterâ in the medical room was a slime, I couldnât have bailed you out.â
Xiao Xi eyed Miss L with a mix of emotions. She knew Miss L had saved her, but it also meant Miss L had fully doxxed her.
âDonât blame me, A-Xing. You made it too easy,â Miss L said, shrugging. âYour concern for Little Red Riding Hood screamed loud and clear. I just dug into her social connections, checked a few details, and there you were, exposed.â
âYouâve got a little sister, huh?â Miss L grinned. âYou wonât believe this, but some folks thought you hid your face because you were some kind of troll. Turns out, A-Xing, youâre actually pretty cute.â
Xiao Xi glared at Miss Lâs sly smile. âDonât breathe a word of this to anyone⌠especially Xing Ge! You absolutely canât tell her!â
âChill, A-Xing. Weâve been friends for years. You know I keep secrets,â Miss L said, patting Xiao Xiâs shoulder. âBut thank goodness I doxxed you, or youâd have been caught red-handed by your dear little sister, right?â
âNow, hurry to the medical room and fake being unconscious. Donât be late and mess this up in front of her.â
Xiao Xi sighed. She knew her blatant concern for that brat Xiao Keke had tipped Miss L off. But she was her little sisterâhow could Xiao Xi ignore her running around as a magical girl?
