Chapter 20: Greedy Wolf Gang
Liu Yu shrugged: “The Greedy Wolf Gang—a legendary group in our city. Its leader, originally nicknamed Lone Wolf, started with just a knife in his teens during a time when gangs here were chaotic, constantly fighting over turf. He built it into a gang of over ten thousand members. Now everyone calls him the Wolf King.”
I felt a chill—over ten thousand people!
“Is there… a photo of the Wolf King?” I asked, brow furrowed, heart uneasy.
For some reason, all the guys present shivered at once.
Chen Wei rubbed the goosebumps on her arm: “Zhixia, did you grow up eating cuteness?”
I didn’t get why she’d ask that and shook my head: “I grew up eating garbage…”
Chen Wei leaned against my shoulder: “Sorry, I meant you’re adorable.”
Liu Yu continued: “He’s retired from the spotlight now, rarely shows his face.”
I’d have to ask the maid.
When those four big men dragged me back in the park, they’d called the wolf “Boss.”
What if the wolf was the Wolf King?
I couldn’t escape, couldn’t kill him—what then?
I clenched my fists, taking a deep breath, holding it for seconds before exhaling.
Zeng Xin looked at me oddly: “Rich lady Ye, what’s that about?”
“Lung capacity practice.”
Controlling my emotions.
Gao Yang, seeing me like this, suddenly recalled: “Speaking of, little fairy, you don’t have a club yet, right?”
I blinked: “Club?”
Zeng Xin explained: “The last period is free time for activities—like our school’s lion dance club, basketball club…”
I raised my hand instantly: “Basketball club! I’m joining the basketball club!”
He Zhi chuckled: “Knew it.”
Yu Hao nodded: “Same.”
I opened my mouth—am I that predictable?
I just like basketball.
Gao Yang grinned at me: “Little fairy, I’m in the basketball club too. I’ll come get you for the last period.”
Yu Hao shot him a side-eye: “You’re not the only one in it, acting like I’m an outsider.”
Back in class, I napped on my desk.
The next lessons came, but I couldn’t follow, feeling left behind.
At break, Liu Yu suddenly asked: “Zhixia, why’re you curious about the Wolf King?”
I shook my head lightly: “No reason, don’t worry about it.”
Time flew.
At the last period, Yu Hao came: “Zhixia, let’s go.”
Classmates stared at him, puzzled, casting disapproving looks.
Gao Yang sprinted to our classroom door: “Little fairy, come on, let’s play ball.”
“Rich lady Ye,” Zeng Xin called, pointing at my skirt: “Got sportswear?”
I touched my stomach: “Oh, right!”
Gao Yang, knowing what my gesture meant, said: “Another day, then. I’ll teach you basketball later.”
Yu Hao glanced between us: “What’s going on?”
“It’s a secret between me and the little fairy,” Gao Yang teased, then dashed off.
I rolled my eyes but didn’t want many to know about my situation.
Zeng Xin pulled out her phone: “Let’s read manga.”
“Sure!”
Yu Hao left for his club.
Zeng Xin and I sat together.
She suddenly asked: “Zhixia, why don’t you have a phone?”
“Uh… don’t really need one.”
A lie—I couldn’t afford it.
“You’re so unique. Can’t even chat with you at night.”
We read a shoujo manga for the period—some nonsense about a guy pinning a girl to a wall making her heart race.
Utterly absurd.
When the dismissal bell rang, I got playful, pinning Zeng Xin to the wall: “Heart racing?”
She giggled, pushing me off: “We’re both girls. Takes a tall, hot guy for that.”
We packed our homework.
Today was probably the happiest day of my life, aside from that lunch incident.
Leaving the school gate with Zeng Xin, the maid was impossible to miss, parking her car in the most conspicuous spot, waving: “Zhixia~”
Zeng Xin gawked at the Ferrari: “No wonder you’re rich lady Ye. See you tomorrow.”
I turned, smiling and bowing: “See you.”
The maid looked at me like a proud mother: “Made a friend?”
I grinned: “Yeah.”
Seeing my smile, she beamed: “Let’s go home.”
At a traffic light, I clutched my bag, unable to hold back: “Sister…”
She froze—I’d never called her that.
Her heart melted: “What’s up, our cutest little Zhixia?”
“Do you know about the Greedy Wolf Gang?”
