Chapter 10: Arrest

Angus stood before the teacher’s office door, her heart pounding as if a fawn were thrashing in her chest.

Her hands trembled, but she summoned her courage and knocked lightly.

“Come in,” came the steady, authoritative voice from within.

Pushing open the door, Angus saw Professor Morgan seated at his desk, engrossed in a thick magic tome, its cover shimmering with an air of mystery.

“Professor, I have something urgent to report,” Angus said, her voice quivering with urgency.

Morgan looked up, his gaze settling on Angus’s anxious face.

He set the book down and said gently, “Take your time, child. What’s wrong?”

Steadying herself, Angus poured out everything about Eric’s secret imprisonment and torture of people at home.

Morgan’s expression froze, his face registering disbelief.

He could hardly imagine such heinous acts from one of his students.

“This is no small matter, Elena,” Morgan said, his brow furrowing, his tone grave and intimidating.

“Are you certain everything you’ve said is true?”

“Absolutely, Professor,” Angus nodded firmly, her eyes resolute.

“I saw it with my own eyes. The tortured cries of those people still echo in my ears.”

Morgan stood, pacing the room, each step heavy with worry.

After a moment, he stopped, declaring decisively, “This must be reported to the police immediately. Eric cannot be allowed to continue unchecked.”

He strode to his desk, opened a communication spellbook, and swiftly chanted an incantation.

Soon, a response came from the police station.

A stern, uniformed police captain, Leon, appeared in the magical connection.

“This is Captain Leon,” he said, his voice firm and commanding.

Morgan relayed Eric’s crimes to the captain.

“We’ll take immediate action,” Leon assured.

Morgan nodded solemnly.

“I trust you’ll handle this swiftly. Justice must be served, and such atrocities cannot go unpunished.”

Captain Leon vowed, “Rest assured, we’ll leave no stone unturned.”

After closing the spellbook, Morgan turned to Angus, his eyes warm with approval and reassurance.

“You did the right thing, Elena. Leave the rest to the police.”

Angus felt a slight relief, but a new thought struck her—using Morgan’s spellbook to contact her father.

Yet, the memory of her last attempt stopped her.

Her father had hung up abruptly, dismissing her words.

Her situation was so bizarre—who would believe it?

Angus knew her story sounded absurd.

She realized she needed proof of her identity as Angus to convince her father.

But then she faltered.

Her life had been spent in the lab, rarely seeing her father.

Mentioning experiments wouldn’t help—he knew nothing of them.

And who would listen to a string of esoteric academic talk?

It might make her father suspect she was stealing research results, not recognize her as his son.

Disheartened, Angus quickly rallied.

With Eric’s arrest, she had time to devise a way to contact her father.

She resolved to find a method to make her father believe she was his son.

At the police station, the atmosphere was tense and bustling.

Officers assembled swiftly, their movements precise, equipped with advanced weapons and powerful magical gear, each radiating an imposing aura to prepare for any unforeseen dangers.

“This mission is critical. No mistakes. If those students get a scratch, their parents will have our heads,” Captain Leon stressed loudly, his voice echoing through the hall.

While the police prepared, Angus waited anxiously in Morgan’s office.

Each passing second stretched endlessly, like a taut thread wrapping her heart.

Finally, the police, aboard magical hovercars, sped toward the academy like bolts of lightning.

Meanwhile, Eric remained surprisingly calm.

He strolled back leisurely, returning to class as if nothing was amiss.

As the teacher lectured, Captain Leon and his officers burst through the classroom door.

Leon approached Eric, his steps firm and resolute, holding a pair of glowing magical handcuffs.

“Eric, you’re under arrest for suspected illegal imprisonment and torture,” Leon declared, his voice calm but commanding, exuding unyielding authority.

Eric didn’t resist, standing silently, his eyes eerily calm.

He knew the game was just beginning.

Leon secured the handcuffs on Eric’s wrists, their glow intensifying.

A flicker of surprise crossed Eric’s face, but he quickly regained his composure.

“Let’s go, Eric,” Leon said, his tone steady and resolute.

Eric said nothing, following Leon out of the classroom.

The classroom erupted in chatter.

“My gods, Eric did something like that? That’s horrifying!” a ponytail-wearing girl gasped, covering her mouth in shock.

“I always thought he was off—always so secretive,” a bespectacled boy said, adjusting his glasses.

“Why would he imprison people? He’s a monster!” a short-haired girl clenched her fists in anger.

“I hope the police uncover the truth and free those people,” a tall boy said grimly.

“There might be a misunderstanding. He didn’t seem that bad,” a friend of Eric’s muttered, drawing glares from others.

“What misunderstanding? He’s been arrested!” someone shot back.

From a distance, Angus watched Eric being led away, her heart swelling with joy.

Leon escorted Eric out of the academy, their figures fading into the night.

Eric’s eyes held an unsettling calm.
