Chapter 7: Sister, I’m sorry.
“A-Qi, see you tomorrow!”
After an afternoon public lecture, while other classes with awakened abilities continued their studies, Class 18—the bottom-tier class—had finished for the day.
After walking his desk mate Mo Yu to the nearby bus stop and seeing him off, Su Qi finally started his journey home.
Su Qi’s home wasn’t far from Spirit Martial University—quite the opposite, it was very close.
Before his parents, Su Father and Su Mother, went missing in the Sacred Ruins, they’d bought a 120-square-meter, three-bedroom, one-living-room apartment in a school district for Su Lulu and Su Qi’s convenience.
It was just a 15-minute walk home, saving Su Qi the hassle of dorm life.
Back then, though, Su Qi had been resistant to the purchase.
From elementary through high school, he’d always lived in dorms.
As a boy, he’d looked forward to university dorm life, free from family constraints.
But, to his dismay, too much had happened in recent years.
His parents vanished exploring the Sacred Ruins.
His sister, with her powerful Water Dragon King ability, fell into a cursed coma.
This so-called freedom and lack of constraints had arrived in a chaotic, unexpected way.
Fate, it seemed, could be unreasonably cruel.
Beep~
Su Qi stepped into the elevator, pressing the button for the 15th floor.
Muyang Community was a mid-rise complex with 23 floors.
Feeling the centrifugal force as the elevator ascended, watching the floor display climb, Su Qi couldn’t help but envy Lin Xue’s carefree wing-flapping from last night.
If he had a vampire ability, couldn’t he just fly home?
Lost in thought, the elevator reached the 15th floor before he knew it.
At the door marked 1507, Su Qi pulled out his key and opened it.
Creak~
The door swung open slowly, revealing a bright and pristine scene that lifted his spirits.
The first thing that caught his eye was the white ceramic floor tiles, adorned with delicate patterns, polished to a mirror-like shine.
Each tile reflected the surrounding light, making the entire room feel exceptionally bright.
The living room’s table and sofa were impeccably arranged, not a hint of clutter.
Items on the table—documents, books, stationery—were neatly placed, as if awaiting their owner.
The cushions on the sofa were perfectly aligned, without a single wrinkle, exuding comfort and warmth.
A faint, clean fragrance lingered in the air—not overpowering perfume, but a fresh, natural scent, like sun-dried laundry, soothing the soul.
Looking at this spotless, orderly room, Su Qi, worn out from the day’s events, felt a quiet sense of pride.
Though as a proper boy, he felt some shame and mild disdain for his Crisp Wife ability, he had to admit—when transformed, his housekeeping skills were top-notch.
This 120-square-meter apartment, large and empty for one person, somehow felt warm and cozy under his Crisp Wife touch.
Closing the door and slipping into slippers, Su Qi, drained from the day’s chaos, collapsed onto the sofa.
As his body sank into the cushions, enveloped in soft comfort, he squinted contentedly.
But before he could enjoy even a minute of peace, a sound interrupted.
Gurgle~
Having skipped breakfast and barely eaten lunch, his stomach protested loudly.
Prompted by the hunger, Su Qi sat up.
Normally, he’d order takeout for convenience.
But with tomorrow’s Sacred Ruins expedition (interview) with the Cangyou Wildcat Team, he needed to try on women’s clothing to find a stat-boosting outfit.
Since he was already resigned to the embarrassment of dressing up, he decided to skip unhealthy takeout.
Instead, he’d make himself a Crisp Wife bento.
He had leftovers from yesterday’s night market stall—enough for a beef brisket stew with tomatoes and a side of cold salad.
Decision made, Su Qi rose from the sofa.
The Su family’s apartment had three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom.
The largest room was his parents’ master bedroom.
As the youngest and a low-maintenance boy, Su Qi took the smallest room, while the second bedroom belonged to his sister, Su Lulu.
Creak~
He gently pushed open Su Lulu’s bedroom door.
Her room, with its girly pink walls and feminine decor, filled Su Qi with a mix of shame and guilt.
The reason was simple.
Perhaps due to his Crisp Wife ability, Su Qi’s height had stalled at 168 cm.
Coincidentally, Su Lulu’s height before her coma was about the same.
To save on medical expenses, he’d been using her ordinary dress each time he activated his ability.
Now, the thought of trying on her clothes again stirred a strange sense of taboo… and maybe a tiny bit of… thrill? Excitement?
‘Excitement?!’
‘Wait—what am I thinking?!’
‘I’m not right!’
Shaking his head to banish the odd thoughts, Su Qi stepped into the room.
Su Lulu’s room, a side bedroom, was slightly larger than his.
But the extra space was entirely taken up by a large white wardrobe.
Su Qi approached and opened its four doors.
Though he’d opened it many times while cleaning during Su Lulu’s coma, he was still struck each time.
Before her coma, Su Lulu had been a Sacred Ruins adventurer.
The profession was unique—high risk, but high reward.
With her Water Dragon King talent, like many women, her biggest hobby was shopping.
As the wardrobe doors opened, it was like unveiling a treasure chest.
The sight was dazzling—full to the brim with girls’ clothing in every color and style.
Three sections held shorts, short skirts, sweet pleated skirts, elegant pencil skirts—each with unique designs and lengths for every occasion and mood.
From flowing chiffon gowns to glamorous evening dresses, each piece radiated charm.
There were also girly Lolita-style outfits, JK uniforms, and JSK dresses, exuding youthful, playful schoolgirl vibes.
The leftmost section was packed with underwear, accessories, earrings, anklets, and stockings—delicate and exquisite.
Staring at the overwhelming array, Su Qi sighed.
‘Girls sure spend a lot. Guys are simpler—my entire wardrobe is just four outfits.’
After a small lament, his cheeks flushed with faint embarrassment.
With trembling, pale hands, he shed his Spirit Martial University boys’ uniform and placed it on a chair.
This time, instead of the usual dress, he picked up one of Su Lulu’s JK outfits and a camisole.
Facing the room, he muttered guiltily, “Sis, sorry, just borrowing these for a bit.”
