Chapter 50: Reading minds? No, actually, predicting the future!

In the outskirts of Gan City, the abandoned factory stood desolate.
Lin Qingya sat on the cold, rough concrete, waves of exhaustion washing over her.
She tilted her head back, gazing at the dark purple, overcast sky, letting the night breeze tousle her bangs.
She needed to think—think carefully about her next steps.
Tonight’s actions had fired the first shot of rebellion, but they’d also pushed her into direct opposition with every major force.

Unbeknownst to her, hundreds of meters away on the winding mountain road, a pair of eyes watched her through high-powered binoculars.
It was a magical girl clad in a silver-white battle suit, her slender figure and icy demeanor resembling a moonlight elf, her long silver hair swaying gently in the night wind.
She lowered the binoculars, her delicate brows furrowing slightly as she sighed.
She touched the crescent-shaped silver pendant on her earlobe.

“I see her.”
Her voice was clear and cold, transmitted through the pendant’s telepathic link to the other end.
“If I take three more steps, I’ll be dead without a grave.”

Jin Ling’s voice came through the pendant, sharp and clear.
“Leave now. Stay safe.”
“Our goal was only to confirm her safety. As for the secrets she holds, now’s not the time to dig.”

The silver magical girl nodded lightly.
“Understood, Sister.”
Without hesitation, her figure blurred into a streak of silver light, vanishing into the night without a trace.

Almost at the same moment, a figure slowly materialized high in the night sky, clad in that ornate, eerie purple-black witch attire.
Bai Wanting hovered beneath the clouds, casting a disdainful glance at the direction where the silver magical girl had disappeared, a cold smirk curling her lips.

“Gone, huh?”
“Smart move.”

Back in the abandoned factory, Jin Ling’s cryptic words added a layer of unease to the already heavy atmosphere.

“A terrifying existence? Who?”
Wei Re couldn’t hold back, her eyes wide as she pressed, “Is Snow White… being targeted by someone?”
Her mind raced with movie-like scenarios—secret organizations, elite agents, even aliens.

Xin Lü and Ling Lan also turned their gazes to Jin Ling, awaiting her explanation.
They couldn’t fathom who would secretly protect a “murderer” who’d just executed three people in front of the world.

Jin Ling shrugged, her face adopting a “don’t ask me, I don’t know” expression.
“I don’t know who it is exactly.”
She floated midair, elegantly swinging her legs.
“All I know is that they’re a terrifying entity, far beyond what we can handle at this stage.”
Her tone was casual but carried an unshakable certainty, as if she’d seen it firsthand.

Her words left Wei Re, Xin Lü, and Ling Lan exchanging bewildered glances.
No matter how they racked their brains, they couldn’t imagine what kind of entity would protect Lin Qingya in secret—or what other secrets Qingya was hiding.

The air fell silent again.
Ling Lan was the first to break it, her sharp gaze fixed on Jin Ling, as if trying to see through her.

“I’ve been meaning to ask.”
Her voice was cold and calm, but carried a probing intensity.
“How do you know all this?”

Her question sparked curiosity in Wei Re and Xin Lü, who turned their wide, eager eyes to Jin Ling.
Indeed!
From her “do the minimum” strategy to her precise analysis of the “White Shadow” mission, Jin Ling wasn’t just quick-witted—she seemed to anticipate everything.

Ling Lan ignored the others’ reactions, stepping forward, arms crossed, and laid out her reasoning calmly.
“Back in the underground parking lot during our first clash, you predicted Xin Lü’s and my attacks in advance. I suspected then you had something like ‘danger foresight.’”
“Later, in the storage room at Jinmao Tower, you let Lin Qingya leave abruptly without reason, saying her heart wasn’t in it and she’d be no help.”
“I started wondering if your ability was tied to ‘mind reading,’ which let you know what she was planning.”
“And now…”
Ling Lan’s gaze sharpened, her words deliberate.
“You’ve accurately sensed a ‘protector’ around Lin Qingya—information no ordinary person could perceive.”
“Jin Ling, what exactly is your ability?”

Her logical barrage left Wei Re and Xin Lü stunned.
Naive Xin Lü had always thought Jin Ling’s magic was just bullet tracking.
Only now, after Ling Lan’s analysis, did they realize how enigmatic this new magical girl was.
Jin Ling had always seemed omniscient.

Even under Ling Lan’s relentless questioning, Jin Ling maintained her lazy smile.
She crossed her legs midair, her golden battle suit shimmering under the moonlight, and clapped playfully.
“Not bad, Ling Lan. Quite the analysis.”
She glanced at Wei Re and Xin Lü, their faces screaming “tell us!” and teased, “Wanna know?”
Her gentle, mischievous demeanor was like a witch dangling candy before kids.

Wei Re and Xin Lü nodded frantically, like chicks pecking rice.
“Yes, yes, yes!”

Seeing their adorable reactions, Jin Ling couldn’t hold back a chuckle.
These magical girls from Tengchun City were certainly colorful.
She had to admit, these two curious cuties were pretty lovable.

“Fine, I’ll tell you.”
She scanned the group, her tone turning serious.
“After all, from now on, we’re comrades fighting side by side.”
She lowered her legs, descending gracefully to the ground.
In that moment, her aura became profound and mysterious, her golden eyes reflecting the cosmos.

Under their held breaths, Jin Ling’s lips parted, delivering an answer that upended their understanding.
“My ability is…”
Foresight.

The instant her words landed, the abandoned factory fell deathly silent.
Wei Re’s eyes widened, her mouth forming an “O.”
Xin Lü rubbed her ears, doubting what she’d heard.
Even the ever-calm Ling Lan showed unmasked shock for the first time, her pupils contracting sharply.

“What did you say?”
Her voice trembled with disbelief.
Foresight… of the future?”
