Chapter 66:Possession
The depths of the Fallen Dragon Rift were thick with baleful aura, viscous like blood mist, scraping at bones and eroding souls.
Shuyue’s consciousness drifted in a haze of cold, tearing pain. Her protective spiritual light had long since shattered, her white robes torn by the baleful aura, seeping with streaks of crimson. Her body plummeted uncontrollably into deeper darkness.
She felt no pain, only a numb sense of release.
‘Let it… end like this…’
But just as her consciousness teetered on the edge of dissolution, a blazing sword intent streaked through, forcibly tearing apart the dense baleful aura, charging downward!
“Shuyue!!!”
A piercing scream exploded in her ears!
The radiant streak shot toward her falling form, a pair of icy yet trembling hands fiercely grasping her shoulders. The immense force sent them crashing into a jutting black rock on the rift’s side.
Shuyue let out a muffled groan, her scattered gaze struggling to focus. What met her eyes was Wanqing’s face, streaked with tears and blood from the baleful aura’s cuts!
Her… how did she get here?
Shuyue’s mind went blank, utterly unable to process the situation.
Wanqing clung to her shoulders, nails digging into her flesh. Those once-cool eyes now blazed with fury, fear, and an overwhelming torrent of emotions that seemed ready to consume her!
“You dare to die?! Who gave you permission to die?!” Wanqing’s voice was hoarse, fiercer than ever. She raised her hand abruptly.
Slap!
A crisp, resounding slap landed hard on Shuyue’s face!
The force snapped Shuyue’s head to the side, a clear handprint blooming on her cheek, stinging hotly.
The slap stunned Shuyue completely.
It also shattered the deadened numbness in her eyes.
“You…” she began weakly, dazed.
“Shut up!” Wanqing cut her off sharply, tears streaming down, mingling with the blood on her face, a mix of desperation and madness.
“You think dying ends everything?! You think leaving those things behind makes up for it?! Shuyue! Not a chance! You owe me! You haven’t paid me back! I won’t let you die! I won’t!”
She roared with every ounce of strength, each word a blood-and-tears accusation.
Wanqing’s body trembled with bone-deep fear.
Her hands, clutching Shuyue’s shoulders, shook violently, as if loosening her grip would make the woman before her vanish instantly.
“You lied to me! Used me! Treated me well, then pushed me away! Made me hate you to my core, yet made me…”
Her voice choked, thick with pained struggle.
“…made me unable to forget you, no matter what! And now you want to escape by dying? In your dreams!”
Another slap!
Slap!
This time on the other cheek.
“This is for your arrogance! For your pig-headed stupidity!”
Wanqing cried out, her emotions spiraling out of control. “Who gave you the right to think dying is best for us?! Did you ask me? Did you ask Chu Yi? Did you ask that little girl who relies on you?! Who are you to decide for us?!”
The stinging pain on Shuyue’s cheeks and the ferocious emotions in Wanqing’s words shook her soul to its core.
Looking at the girl who’d cast aside her icy facade, revealing raw, anguished pain, Shuyue’s heart felt gripped by an invisible hand, aching so fiercely she could barely breathe.
“I…” She wanted to apologize, to explain, but no sound came.
“I’m not listening!” Wanqing leaned in fiercely, their noses nearly touching, breaths mingling. Shuyue could see her own battered reflection in Wanqing’s eyes and the blazing, all-consuming mix of love and hate burning within.
“You want to die?”
Wanqing’s voice dropped, laced with desperate madness. “Fine… let me tell you, even if you die, turn to ash, scatter across the heavens—I, Su Wanqing, will find you! I’ll hate you! I’ll haunt you! I’ll cling to you until your soul dissipates!”
Her words were like a venomous curse, heavy with heartbreaking devotion.
In the next second, under Shuyue’s stunned gaze, Wanqing lunged forward, pressing her lips fiercely against Shuyue’s!
It wasn’t a gentle kiss but a brutal, blood-tinged one, filled with plunder and possessiveness!
It was punishment, confirmation, a raw claim of ownership!
Shuyue’s mind exploded into a blank void.
She felt the cold, trembling touch of Wanqing’s lips, tasted the salty mix of tears, blood, and baleful aura, and sensed the resolute force that seemed to want to crush and consume her!
This kiss wasn’t about romance—it was the eruption of extreme emotions, pent-up adoration, unvented hatred, the panic of loss and recovery, and an insane determination to never let go!
“Mmph…!” Shuyue tried to struggle, but Wanqing pinned her tighter against the rock and her body.
After what felt like an eternity, when both were nearly breathless, Wanqing pulled back, her lips blood-red, her eyes terrifyingly bright.
She stared at Shuyue, each word a vow:
“Shuyue, listen well. Your life is mine. Without my permission, you’re not allowed to die!”
“Hate or love, in this lifetime, you’ll never escape me! Even if we fall into this Fallen Dragon Rift, it’ll be together!”
With that, she hugged Shuyue even tighter, their bodies pressed so close not a gap remained.
The force was as if she wanted to meld Shuyue into her very bones and blood, never to part.
The baleful aura raged around them, but in that moment, Shuyue felt none of it.
She could only f
eel Wanqing’s pounding heartbeat, her trembling body.
