Chapter 50:Weird Campus 19 Mobile Phone

Qi Dong lunged at Shen Musi, clawing for her collar.

Shen Musi dodged, slipping behind Xu Nian, gripping her hand and peeking out cautiously.

“Shen Musi!” Qi Dong shrieked, reaching again.

Xu Nian’s dagger flashed, forcing her back.

Yuan Shen watched coldly, not intervening, letting Qi Dong flail like a clown.

Xu Nian stayed alert for Qi Dong’s next move, her peripheral vision catching the pile of items.

A button phone—likely a key clue.

Qi Dong, noticing her glance, dove to shield the pile. “It’s mine! Don’t touch it!”

Ran Feng restrained her, pulling her aside. “Share the clues, Xu Nian.”

“Ran Feng! Let go!” Qi Dong thrashed, her long nails leaving red streaks on him. Her heavy perfume made him grimace, yanking her farther away.

Xu Nian nodded, pocketing her dagger.

Deal struck.

Ran Feng smirked, releasing Qi Dong to grab the phone.

As he moved to unlock it, Qi Dong’s face twisted, lunging to snatch it.

He raised it high, dodging. “What? Guilty?”

Finally catching Yuan Shen and Qi Dong’s weakness, he’d make them pay for framing him last class.

Qi Dong, unable to grab it, whirled on the silent Yuan Shen. “Why’re you just standing there? Want everyone to know your dirty secrets?”

Yuan Shen, suppressing rage, clenched his fists. “What did I do? Wasn’t it all you?”

The chained pair bickered.

“Let’s see who did it,” Ran Feng said.

“Wait,” Yuan Shen hesitated. “This is someone’s privacy.”

Ran Feng sneered. “Got something to hide?”

He unlocked the phone in front of everyone. Surprisingly, it was fully charged, lighting up instantly, as if prepared.

Messages popped up. “Missed calls. From ‘Mom.’”

“Can we tell whose phone this is?” Xu Nian asked.

“There’s a wallpaper—a teenage girl, probably the owner,” Ran Feng said, showing the shyly smiling girl.

Qi Dong and Yuan Shen’s faces soured.

“Wait,” Qi Ye pulled out a photo. “I’ve got a class picture. We can compare.”

The A4-sized photo read: Dai Ai Academy, Class 1, Grade 1 Graduation Photo.

It showed the class and teacher, all smiling brightly but with hollow eyes, as if staring beyond the lens.

Qi Dong’s face worsened at the sight, even Yuan Shen’s composure cracked.

“Qi Dong, Yuan Shen, you’re both in this,” Shen Musi said casually, beside Xu Nian.

Qi Dong snapped, screaming, “Shen Musi, it’s you! Don’t think I can’t recognize you with a new face!”

“What’re you talking about?” Shen Musi’s eyes brimmed with tears, her innocent gaze heart-wrenching.

Xu Nian’s heart wavered. Usually aloof, she couldn’t help but snap at Qi Dong, “Don’t go too far.”

“Too far? It’s her! She’s haunting me! All I did was—” Qi Dong’s words were cut off as Yuan Shen clamped her mouth.

“Shut up! Class is starting!” Yuan Shen hissed, dragging her back to their seats despite her glare.

So close to the truth…

Yuan Shen, the smarter one, stopped Qi Dong’s outburst.

Xu Nian’s eyes darkened. She guessed Qi Dong was one of the top student Shen Musi’s bullies, with Yuan Shen likely involved. The details remained unclear.

She returned to her seat, waiting for class, deep in thought.

Shen Musi sat beside her, arms crossed on the desk, the picture of a model student.

Adorable.

Xu Nian’s heart melted—and broke.

She tried to ignore Shen Musi, yet tracked her every move. Knowing Shen Musi’s pitiful act was partly fake, she was still swayed.

If she had a heartstring, she’d cut it.

Feelings were too distracting.

Forcing her focus to clues, she recalled something overlooked.

If Ran Feng wasn’t lying about the “blonde woman,” and it was the Young Lady, she was nearby last night.

But not seeing Xu Nian? That was wrong.

She was here the first day.

Something was off…

The more she thought, the hazier it got, her head spinning.

Her condition had been poor lately, but it didn’t matter much.

Dizzy, she slumped onto the desk to rest.

Bang!

A scarred, menacing man burst in, a familiar object dangling from his hand.

A long, black-scaled thing.

If Xu Nian looked up, she’d recognize the Young Lady’s pet from the last world—a black-horned snake, delicious when cooked.

Shen Musi, ever attentive, noticed her state and whispered, “Xu Nian, the teacher’s here.”

No response.

Used to Xu Nian’s cool demeanor, Shen Musi leaned closer, her honeyed voice brushing Xu Nian’s ear. “Deskmate, wake up or you won’t be cute~”

Still nothing.

Was she mad?

Without thinking, Shen Musi slid to her knees. “Deskmate, I’m sorry!”

Xu Nian didn’t stir.
