Chapter 3: Where is the uncle I’m looking for?
In the evening, two continuous hours of live streaming left Xia Hui feeling tired. He couldn’t help stretching his waist.
“Mm… I’m going to wash my face to wake up a bit. Everyone, please wait a moment.”
Along with Xia Hui’s movements, the virtual avatar on the screen also stretched lazily.
Seeing this, the bullet chat understood perfectly and started spamming.
【Uncle stretching is so cute~】
【Is Uncle married? Are you going to pick up the kids?】
【Being Uncle’s kid must be tough. If it’s a girl, becoming a magical girl would mean getting nagged by Uncle every day with small cup, medium cup talk. When will we ever get a super large cup compliment?】
【Exactly. After all, Uncle is super strict. You won’t find many super large cup magical girls in the whole country in a year.】
Before heading to the bathroom, Xia Hui bent down and glanced at the bullet chat. A helpless smile appeared at the corner of his mouth as he replied.
“Unfortunately, this Uncle is still single and has no kids.”
The bullet chat, which had assumed Uncle had left, exploded upon hearing this.
【Eh? Uncle doesn’t have kids yet! Could it be that he awakened magic at the age of thirty while remaining single? No wonder he’s called Magic Uncle!】
【Is Uncle really from another world? Can you communicate with elves? Like that otherworld uncle?】
【No way. Uncle is probably a single guy living alone and feeling lonely.】
Letting the bullet chat discuss freely, Xia Hui didn’t look any further. He really needed to go to the bathroom to refresh himself. Streaming for too long had made his eyes feel sore and swollen.
He scooped up a handful of cold water, simply washed his cheeks, then looked up at his reflection in the mirror.
Clean, tidy, and one could even describe the skin as spotless. Overall though, his appearance was quite ordinary.
“Is it… that there’s been no change at all from a few years ago? That shady merchant said it would slowly age with time. I can’t still have this young face ten years from now, right?”
Xia Hui couldn’t help feeling a bit troubled. He might need to find time to visit that “shady merchant” to change his face.
After all, strictly speaking, he was no longer the male Xia Hui. He was merely wearing a mask, trying hard to maintain the image of a “brother” in his sister’s eyes.
Just as Xia Hui was lost in thought for a moment, the reflection in the mirror suddenly blurred. A girl’s indifferent face flashed across it, almost about to emerge from the young man’s shadow and replace him.
“Sigh… It’s always troublesome when the gem breaks.”
Xia Hui pressed his lips tightly together. A faint blue light surged from his body, stabilizing the young man’s figure and concealing the girl’s presence.
Returning to the doorway of the room, Xia Hui prepared to continue the live stream. However, just before he could take the next step, the door lock clicked.
“Who?!”
Vigilance surged to the top of Xia Hui’s head almost instantly. Some instinct accumulated over the years acted faster than reason. His 【Perception】 penetrated the thick walls and reached straight to the front door through the living room.
“Eh, the door wasn’t locked?”
A girl’s voice came through, sounding somewhat familiar to Xia Hui. He quickly moved first and slipped into the room.
Bang!
He slammed the room door shut heavily on purpose, hoping to startle and drive away the girl who had strangely entered the living room.
However, when he pressed his ear against the door to listen carefully, the sound of cautious footsteps grew closer and closer.
“Magic Uncle must be hiding right behind this door.”
Tap tap tap.
The footsteps approached nearer. Xia Hui frowned and clenched his fists. He retreated to the computer, tapped the keyboard, and ended the stream at lightning speed.
Just from the girl’s earlier words “Magic Uncle,” Xia Hui knew she was here for him. But why? There had to be some reason for everything.
In just a few seconds, the girl outside began talking to herself.
“Magic Uncle went offline. Haha, sure enough, he’s hiding in here! Today I have to question you clearly! What do you mean by medium newbie!”
Medium newbie? A fan of Sunny Wings? Or the person herself?!
There was no time to think further. Xia Hui quickly walked to the chair and sat down. A faint blue light surged over the surface of his body, and his figure rapidly shrank.
At the same time, Xia Xiaocheng outside the door was extremely pleased with herself. She was convinced she had caught Magic Uncle.
Scared now, Magic Uncle? You criticized me so hard this afternoon! Today I’m definitely going to get to the bottom of this and make you crash hard!
The door naturally wasn’t locked in time. Xia Xiaocheng touched the handle, pressed it down gently, and the door opened.
Creak——
It was already evening. The dim room was lit only by the flickering computer screen. The gaming chair faced away from the doorway, but the slightly lowered angle made it clear that the person Xia Xiaocheng was looking for was right there.
“Hmph.” Xia Xiaocheng took a deep breath. The frustration in her heart could finally be vented! She immediately shouted loudly.
“So you’re the streamer uncle who nags about me every day on live stream! Why don’t you go fight disaster beasts and protect the city’s peace! Do you know how hard it is for magical girls to give up their weekend rest every time? Say something!”
The question had been thrown out. Xia Xiaocheng stared straight at the gaming chair.
“Hm?”
Completely different from the greasy, talkative uncle she had imagined, a pair of fair and delicate hands rested on the edge of the desk and slowly turned the entire gaming chair around.
Silver hair cascaded down like a waterfall. A pair of calm, ripple-free blue eyes lifted. The computer’s backlight outlined the girl’s edges, highlighting her beautiful face that showed almost no expression. A blue dress that looked expensive and stylish hung on her body, enough to show that her identity was anything but simple.
Where was Magic Uncle?
Why was there a beautiful loli instead?!
Xia Xiaocheng’s mind exploded. Her anger was instantly extinguished by the girl’s cool demeanor. She thought frantically and needed to come up with a greeting or explanation.
“You, you… hello there.”
Xia Xiaocheng stiffly raised her right hand, her face flushing red and turning pale alternately.
As for the silver-haired girl, she showed no expression. Her blue eyes simply watched quietly.
I won’t be treated as a criminal harassing a child and taken to headquarters for severe punishment, right? I should have known better than to do this! Why isn’t Magic Uncle here? Why is it a little girl! And she isn’t saying anything! It’s over, over, over!
Xia Xiaocheng felt extremely regretful, but she could only force herself to continue speaking. She thought that almost no little girl disliked magical girls, so she had to try arguing her way out!
“Big… Big Sister here is a magical girl, you know!”
To prove it, Xia Xiaocheng puffed out her chest and casually drew a few glowing musical notes in the air.
However, the girl in front of her remained unmoved. Instead, her blue eyes narrowed slightly, as if scrutinizing every single movement.
It’s not working! She’s not going to call the police, is she? I don’t want my brother to know I’m working as a magical girl!
Xia Xiaocheng felt utterly frustrated inside. But at that moment, her phone buzzed.
【Warning! Disaster beast detected!】
It was the disaster beast alert signal issued by the Magical Girl Headquarters, notifying the nearest magical girls in the area to respond to the enemy.
