Chapter 11: The Old Granny Inside the Ring
Night quietly descended, driving away the evening glow.
Luo Lin lay sprawled across the bed in a starfish position while staring blankly at the ceiling.
“Take the Serah Academy exam? But I really just want to be a useless bum…”
Just as Luo Lin was sighing endlessly and drifting toward sleep—
His vision suddenly blurred.
The height of his perspective abruptly dropped several levels for no reason at all.
The men’s pajamas that originally fit him perfectly instantly lost the support of broad shoulders.
The collar tilted sideways and slid directly off his small rounded shoulders, bunching around his elbows.
His chest was completely flat.
There wasn’t even the slightest trace of development.
The thin body belonging to a young girl looked empty within the oversized men’s sleepwear.
Luo Lin suddenly jolted awake and lowered his head.
Following that snow-white delicate neck downward, a pair of pale tender feet stretched out from the oversized pajama pants and stepped onto the wool carpet.
As the night breeze from the window brushed against them, her toes curled slightly.
Like a panicked little rabbit, she scrambled and rolled her way toward the full-length mirror.
Inside the mirror stood a beautiful silver dragon loli with waist-length silver-white hair, crystalline dragon horns atop her head, and ice-blue eyes.
Selena!
“WHY?! Didn’t all those cultists already die?! Why am I suddenly transforming again in the middle of the night while staying safely at home?!”
Selena grabbed her silver hair in complete collapse and let out a soft miserable wail.
“Guuuu—”
Damn it, why did she transform again?
Completely uncontrollable.
Luo Lin tugged the slipping collar back into place and sighed.
She slowly walked toward the carved silver mirror standing on the floor.
Crimson moonlight filtered through the window lattice and slanted across the mirror’s surface.
But honestly…
‘Damn, you really are beautiful, me.’
‘You’re not even inferior to Lucia at all.’
Just as Luo Lin was admiring herself in the mirror—
“Heart…”
“Offer me your heart…”
An extremely bizarre voice suddenly exploded throughout the silent room.
“Offer your blood… to me…”
The voice shifted unpredictably between ethereal and eerie.
It carried lofty greed.
If this had happened before, Luo Lin probably would’ve screamed, hugged his pillow, and hidden beneath the blanket like an ostrich.
But perhaps due to the influence of dragon bloodline, the current her merely tilted her little head like a tiny detective.
Her ice-blue pupils instantly locked onto the bedside table.
It was actually the ancient ring from that cultist.
At this moment, it was flickering with sinister dark-red light.
The ruby embedded within the ring pulsed rapidly and restlessly.
Why was that cultist’s ring inside her house?
The ring before her was clearly the exact same one the cultist had worn that day.
Bathed in pure moonlight, Selena stood on tiptoe and extremely disdainfully picked up the ring using only two pale fingers.
Buzz!
The ring violently trembled.
A dazzling bloody light exploded outward, causing Selena’s eyes to twitch from the brightness.
Immediately afterward, thick dark-red mist burst crazily from the gemstone and twisted wildly through the air.
Once the mist dispersed—
A white-haired girl appearing around twelve or thirteen years old floated in midair.
She wore an incredibly extravagant black-and-red gothic lolita dress that looked outrageously troublesome to put on.
The layered skirt resembled a giant multi-tiered cake.
Her skin was so pale that the blood vessels beneath it were faintly visible.
Her long white hair dragged all the way to the floor.
Within those ruby-like eyes was endless mockery.
Her legs instantly attracted Selena’s attention.
They were slender and perfectly straight, tightly wrapped in luxurious pure-white lace thigh-high stockings that squeezed out slight softness around the edges.
Perhaps because of the black wings behind her, she floated barefoot in midair.
The white-haired loli crossed her arms and raised her chin arrogantly high.
Her red eyes carefully examined the silver-haired dragon princess before her.
“So it was merely some milk-smelling trash lizard that awakened me.”
The girl lightly tapped the air barefooted.
Her tone was incomparably arrogant.
“Listen carefully, junior. This one is Lilith, Ninth Progenitor of the Eternal Night Blood Clan!”
The bedroom became extremely quiet.
Only the rustling curtains stirred by the night wind and Selena’s breathing could be heard.
Lilith twitched her tiny nose.
“This one smelled it that day. Your blood tastes fairly acceptable, so I reluctantly decided to accept it.”
She assumed the little dragon before her had been frightened silly.
A cold laugh escaped her lips.
“So you’re saying this big bat not only watched the entire battle from the sidelines last time, but shamelessly drank my blood too? You disgusting vampire!”
After realizing what happened, Selena immediately snapped back.
Her cheeks puffed up angrily.
Very unhappy.
“Hmph. It is your honor to have your blood consumed by this one. I am a noble blood clan progenitor. On this cruel Serah Continent, with your pathetic control over magic, a wild young dragon like you won’t survive three months.”
Lilith stretched out one small hand and arrogantly pointed toward the floor.
“Your battle against that cultist was a complete disaster. Trash lizard. Utterly talentless trash. Your only contribution was using your blood to awaken this one.”
At this point, Lilith proudly lifted her chin.
“Kneel.”
“I command you to swear yourself as this one’s personal servant. In return, this one shall mercifully teach you how to become a true powerhouse.”
However, the scene she expected never happened.
Miss Selena didn’t kneel.
She didn’t even bother giving Lilith another glance.
Instead, she casually carried the ring and lightly sat down on the edge of the bed.
Her legs lazily crossed together.
The oversized pajama hem slid aside, exposing dazzlingly white calves.
Resting her cheek against one hand, Selena quietly watched the white-haired loli acting dramatically in midair.
This little dragon had only been born for three days.
Right after being born, she had already fought a life-and-death battle against bad guys.
And now she still had to sit here being lectured by the person who drank her blood.
She was very unhappy.
Her cheeks remained puffed up.
Meanwhile, Lilith completely failed to notice anything as she continued rambling arrogantly.
“What’s the use of fighting? On the Serah Continent, strength and background are everything! You’re just some abandoned trash lizard whose bloodline is probably impure. Which faction do you even belong to?”
The silver-haired girl smiled sweetly while looking at the silver-haired loli on top of her desk who wasn’t much taller than herself.
Then she slowly opened her mouth.
“Finally took the bait.”
Selena slowly stood up like a moonlit night-blooming flower.
Unfortunately, the words coming out of her mouth weren’t elegant at all.
Her lively youthful voice carried mocking amusement as though she were looking at an idiot.
“Old bat. Sleeping for hundreds of years and losing your height is one thing, but did you also lose your brain?”
Lilith’s expression instantly froze.
Her crimson eyes widened.
“You dare insult this one?!”
As a Blood Clan progenitor who had lived for hundreds of years, no one had ever dared speak to her like this.
“Damn it! Damn it!”
Selena stuck out her tongue at her before raising another hand and folding down one pale finger.
“Come, let me introduce myself. My mother is Flora Passat, Grand Duchess of the Holy Church State. She especially enjoys killing evil races.”
Lilith’s tiny feet standing atop the desk trembled slightly as she shivered.
“U-um…”
She swallowed nervously while forcibly maintaining her proud appearance and crossing her arms.
“So what if she’s a Grand Duchess? Don’t think a little background allows you to act arrogantly before this one. A mere human duchess can’t protect a trash lizard like—”
“My lovely childhood friend, Alice Akshia.”
Selena ignored her stubbornness.
Under the moonlight, she folded down a second finger.
Her tone remained completely flat.
“The Holy Church State’s First Princess. First in line to the throne. In other words, the future Pope.”
Lilith’s skirt stopped fluttering.
Her little white-stockinged feet stepping upon empty air curled uneasily.
Her neck visibly stiffened as another crack split through her previously overbearing aura.
“Oh, right.”
Selena spoke as though she had only just remembered.
She folded down a third finger.
“The current Pope of the Holy Church State is Alice’s biological aunt. She also watched me grow up since childhood. If we round things up, she’s basically one of my elders too.”
The arrogant expression on Lilith’s little face instantly collapsed.
A Grand Duchess mother.
A First Princess childhood friend.
Direct connections to the Pope.
Stacking those three titles together—
Forget the Holy Church State.
That combination would allow someone to walk sideways across the entire Serah Continent.
Lilith’s exquisitely delicate face, which had been incomparably arrogant moments ago, now alternated between green and white like a dye workshop exploding.
She stared fixedly at the seemingly harmless silver-haired girl before her while the corners of her eyes twitched uncontrollably.
