Chapter 14: Run! The social terrorist is out!

Bai Wanting gazed at Lin Qingya’s delicate face, her twisted possessiveness swelling with immense satisfaction.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was hypnosis.

Rushing to implant too many commands in a short time would only weaken their effect and might even trigger a subconscious backlash.

Slow and steady wins the race—patience was key.

She needed to give Lin Qingya enough time to digest and internalize the new beliefs planted today, letting them take root in her subconscious until they became unshakable convictions.

One day, Lin Qingya would willingly offer herself completely.

Bai Wanting glanced at the wall clock—there was still some time before afternoon classes.

Hmm… better let this exhausted little thing take a proper nap first.

Rested and refreshed, she’d have the energy for afternoon classes—and to work harder for her.

She gently adjusted her position, making Lin Qingya more comfortable in her arms, then pressed her fingers softly against her temples.

“Sleep, my little Qingya. Have a good nap.”

“When you wake, you’ll forget all your troubles and only remember Sister’s kindness…”

“Qingya, time to wake up~”

“Lunch break’s over. You’ll be late for class if you don’t get up.”

“Mmm…”

Lin Qingya let out a lazy hum, slowly opening her eyes.

What a comfy sleep…

The warm yellow glow of the counseling room’s chandelier greeted her.

Wait—she… fell asleep?

She sat up groggily, realizing she was lying on the soft fabric sofa, covered with a white coat that carried a faint, familiar scent.

It was Little Sister Bai’s lab coat.

“Awake, my little sleepy kitten?”

A gentle, teasing voice came from beside her.

Lin Qingya turned to see Bai Wanting sitting on a nearby armchair, holding a steaming cup of coffee, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

“L-Little Sister Bai…”

Lin Qingya’s cheeks flushed instantly.

Oh my gosh, she’d fallen asleep in Little Sister Bai’s office! And needed her to personally wake her up!

And she was covered with her coat! Ohhh… it even smelled like Little Sister Bai!

This was way too… embarrassing!

She tried hard to recall what happened after she arrived.

She remembered rushing up after lunch, then Little Sister Bai gently chatting with her, asking about how she was settling in at school and her studies.

Then… she must have felt sleepy, her eyelids growing heavy, and Little Sister Bai let her nap on the sofa.

Ugh, Lin Qingya, you absolute embarrassment!

You had a perfect chance to spend time alone with Little Sister Bai, and you used it to sleep!

She wanted to bite herself in frustration.

“I’m so sorry, Little Sister Bai!” Lin Qingya blurted, flustered and red-faced. “I… I didn’t mean to, I don’t know how I fell asleep…”

“Silly girl, what are you apologizing for?” Bai Wanting chuckled indulgently. “You’ve been looking so tired lately—must be the pressure from school.”

“Falling asleep here so peacefully just shows how much you trust Sister. I’m thrilled.”

Her words melted away Lin Qingya’s guilt, replacing it with overwhelming gratitude.

Sob… Little Sister Bai is so kind.

She buried her face in the lab coat, taking a deep sniff, feeling lighter.

Strangely, during class, her mind had been consumed with details of last night’s murder case, her heart heavy.

But now, after a nap, those worries and pressures seemed to have vanished.

It was as if… someone had gently wiped away the shadows in her heart.

This feeling deepened her dependence and admiration for Bai Wanting.

Little Sister Bai is so good to me!

I have to pay attention in class this afternoon! No more zoning out! I can’t let Little Sister Bai down!

“Thank you, Little Sister Bai.” Lin Qingya stood, shyly smoothing her wrinkled uniform. “I… I’ll head to class now.”

“Alright.”

Bai Wanting smiled, personally opening the counseling room door for her.

“Listen well in class. If you’re tired or miss Sister, come back here anytime.”

“Mmm!”

Lin Qingya nodded vigorously, leaving the counseling room with a spring in her step.

Watching her lively figure, Bai Wanting’s smile grew even more indulgent.

So easy to fool, my little cutie.

Lin Qingya hummed a tuneless melody, her steps light as she climbed the school building’s stairs.

Sunlight streamed through the windows, warming her and filling her with energy, making everything around her feel brighter.

As she reached the second-floor corridor’s corner, preparing to head downstairs, a figure suddenly rushed up from below.

“Watch out!”

Before Lin Qingya could react, she collided hard with the other person.

Thud!

She lost her balance and fell on her backside.

At the same time, she clearly heard a soft, sticky meow.

“Meow—!”

“Oh no! I’m so sorry! Are you okay?”

The girl who’d bumped into her was clearly startled, hurriedly helping Lin Qingya up while apologizing profusely.

Dazed from the fall, Lin Qingya rubbed her sore bottom and shook her head.

Only then did she get a good look at the other person—a girl slightly taller than her, wearing a different-style senior uniform, likely an upperclassman.

The senior was slim and pretty, with shoulder-length hair and a vibrant, youthful charm.

In her arms was a pitch-black kitten, one of the stray cats often seen around school.

“I’m really, really sorry! I was rushing to feed it on the rooftop and didn’t see you!” the senior continued, her face full of guilt.

“I-It’s okay…”

Lin Qingya instinctively stepped back, keeping a safe distance.

Her hypnotically induced social anxiety kicked in, making her uncomfortable being too close to a stranger.

Seeing Lin Qingya seemed unharmed, the senior sighed in relief.

Her gaze landed on Lin Qingya’s cute twin tails, her eyes sparkling.

Oh? This junior has twin tails too—so adorable…

Her outgoing personality didn’t notice Lin Qingya’s discomfort, and she struck up a conversation naturally.

“You’re a freshman, right? I’m Xia Momo, Class 5, Grade 2.”

“…Mmm.”

Lin Qingya gave a soft reply, then turned and fled down the stairs like a startled bunny.

Help! Her social anxiety was too much!

“Hey, wait—”

Xia Momo tried to say more, but seeing Lin Qingya vanish like a puff of smoke, she swallowed her words.

She tilted her head, puzzled.

This junior… seems super shy.

Oh well, better not scare her.

Like Xingcui said, too much enthusiasm is harassment.

“Meow~”

The kitten in her arms nuzzled her chin with a soft mew, sounding impatient.

Xia Momo snapped back to reality, smacking her forehead.

“Oh no! I got distracted apologizing—it’s almost class time!”

She glanced at the kitten and her watch, her expression turning frantic.

“Gotta get you to the rooftop for your treats, or the duty teacher will catch us!”

Muttering, she quickly picked up a plastic bag that had fallen during the collision.

She soothed the kitten, “Little Black, hang in there. Your favorite treats are coming!”

With that, she dashed upstairs, not sparing another thought.

Xia Momo raced to the rooftop, expertly pulling out treats and a portable water bowl, letting the kitten feast.

“Little Black, eat slowly, don’t choke.”

She gently stroked its back, her mind drifting back to the cute twin-tailed junior.

“That junior was so adorable, but so timid.”

Xia Momo propped her chin, muttering to herself.

“Guess cute kids are always shy, huh, Little Black…”
