Waking up, Lu Qingqi sat on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling—not daydreaming or groggy from sleep, but because a few lines of text suddenly hovered in her vision.

Lu Qingqi, bewildered, pinched herself hard.

She set the phone down, not entirely surprised.

As for why she accepted this absurd reality so quickly, it was simple. She’d minored in theology in college, already believing in supernatural forces beyond science’s grasp. Plus, as a hardcore novel fan with a streak of chuunibyou spirit, she had no trouble rolling with it.

Lu Qingqi chuckled awkwardly. “Besides, look at your size—skipping a meal is basically a diet, right?”
Despite her words, her actions were honest. She headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for her “cat overlord”—half a can of cat food mixed with kibble, topped with a few veggie leaves and a small bowl of water, a spread fancier than her own meals.
Watching Big White dig in, Lu Qingqi eyed its rolls of fat and muttered to herself. This guy ate like a king but barely moved, and during mating season, it’d yowl nonstop and bolt outside to charm the neighborhood’s lady cats. With all that bulk…

Big White, mid-feast, glanced up at its owner, clearly confused by what this “poop-scooping human” was up to. It lowered its head to keep eating, but suddenly, the cat bowl seemed to grow larger.

Big White stopped eating, lifting a paw—now much daintier—and froze. A chilly sensation between its hind legs hit, and it went stiff.

Feeling the much lighter weight in her arms, she poked Big White’s grumpy little head, teasing, “Honestly, you make a great girl cat. Lighter, leaner, and no need to worry about you terrorizing the neighbor’s ladies. How about we keep you like this?”
“MEOW MEOW MEOW!!!” Big White’s claws nearly swiped her face.
After teasing the cat a bit more, Lu Qingqi changed clothes and left the villa.
Fine snowflakes drifted in the sky. She hunched her shoulders, blew warm air into her hands, but her lips curved into a wide grin.
Liu Wangjiang, here I come.
