As a single mother, I support my daughter by selling my blood

Chapter 20: Succubus Boss Evelyn.

Silvia pushed open the door of the succubus shop, and a wave of fragrance rushed toward her.

It was so thick it felt almost solid, like countless spices blended together.

Silvia instinctively held her breath, but the scent still seeped into her senses from every direction, leaving her dazed for a brief moment.

“My lady, please don’t worry. I definitely didn’t trick you,” Xiao Lin followed behind, chattering nonstop in explanation.

“This shop really does accept gems, and they give fair prices. I’ve… sold emotions and feelings here before. The boss is a very good person.”

“Also, the place that sells blood is very close, just two streets away. After you exchange the money, you can walk there in a few steps.”

Silvia did not respond. She simply walked forward.

Hearing the words “sold emotions and feelings,” she felt a wave of nausea.

Selling emotions and feelings for money—she didn’t dare imagine it, and she would never do such a thing.

Silvia followed Xiao Lin through a beaded curtain and into the shop’s main hall.

In an instant, a group of succubi swarmed over.

“Oh my, we have a guest~”

“This lady looks unfamiliar. Is this your first time here?”

“My lady, what kind of service would you like? We just received some new…”

Silvia was surrounded on all sides by succubi.

They were all tall and voluptuous, with long legs and slender waists. Their chests curved so exaggeratedly that it was hard to look directly at them.

Some wore revealing gauze dresses, some wore tight leather outfits, and others were draped in nothing but a thin layer of sheer gauze.

Their hair came in all colors—red, purple, blue, green—glittering under the dim lights. Their eyes curved into crescent moons, and the corners of their lips carried seductive smiles. Waves of their fragrance kept drifting into Silvia’s nose.

Silvia found the succubi’s behavior extremely improper. It was definitely not because she herself lacked such curves. No, absolutely not because of that.

“Make way, make way. Don’t scare our guest.”

A clear voice came from behind the succubi. They immediately parted, opening a path.

Silvia looked over and saw, at the deepest part of the hall, a wide, soft couch covered with thick velvet blankets and piled with colorful cushions.

A young girl reclined among the cushions, holding an open book in her hands. She lifted her eyes and looked in this direction.

Silvia was stunned.

It was a girl who looked only fifteen or sixteen years old. She wore a simple white long dress, and her hair was a soft pink, cascading over her shoulders.

Her face was small, her skin very fair. Her features were delicate and refined, her lips a faint pink. Her eyes were large and black—the kind that would make anyone feel a surge of pity at first glance.

She sat there like a neighbor’s little sister resting in her own garden, waiting for someone to bring her a bouquet of flowers.

Silvia’s heart skipped a beat violently. In that instant, she thought of Lia.

Lia’s wife—this succubus shop owner sitting on the soft couch—had a gentleness between her brows and eyes that resembled Lia’s.

It almost made Silvia mistake her for someone else.

Then she thought of another person—her white moonlight from her previous life. The person she had never dared confess to, the one she could only watch from afar, the one she secretly recalled in countless late nights.

That person’s eyes had also been this black, this clear, this…

Silvia snapped back to her senses and forcefully suppressed all those messy thoughts.

She was a succubus. She was not Lia. She was not her white moonlight either.

She was just a succubus, one who fed on emotions.

Silvia turned her eyes away, not daring to look at the girl’s face any longer.

“I… I want to exchange money,” she said, lowering her head. Her voice sounded somewhat stiff.

“I have gems I need to cash in.”

The girl smiled. Her laughter was as clear as silver bells and as gentle as flowing water, echoing in the dim room.

“Exchange money, huh.” The girl put down her book and stood up from the soft couch. She walked barefoot to stand in front of Silvia.

“Sure. Let me take a look.”

Silvia felt her approach and instinctively took a step back. The girl smiled again.

“Don’t be afraid. My name is Evelyn. I’m the owner of this shop. It’s just business—I won’t eat you.”

Evelyn walked to Silvia’s side, leaned down slightly, and looked at Silvia’s small face.

“You’re really beautiful.”

Evelyn gently blew a breath toward Silvia. That breath carried a faint, elusive fragrance that slipped into her nose.

Silvia felt a wave of dizziness.

It was as if something had gently exploded in her mind, as if countless flowers had bloomed at once, as if countless voices were whispering in her ears.

Her body grew light and floaty, her consciousness became hazy, and the scene before her eyes began to twist.

By the time she came back to her senses, she found herself lying on a bed.

A soft bed, silky sheets, pillows embroidered with golden patterns.

And Evelyn was pressing down on top of her. Those clear black eyes were so close, and the corners of her lips carried a sly smile.

“You’re really beautiful,” Evelyn said again, her voice soft and sweet.

“I can give you one time for free.”

Silvia’s mind went blank for a moment. She lowered her head and saw Evelyn’s slender, fair hand resting on her collar.

Silvia looked up and saw Evelyn’s face right in front of her. That pure-looking face now carried a faint, ambiguous flush. She really looked so much like her own wife.

How dare she look like her own wife!

Silvia pushed Evelyn away with one hand.

“I only want to exchange money.” Her voice came out colder than she had expected.

Evelyn was pushed back two steps, but she didn’t get angry. She simply stood there looking at Silvia, tilting her head slightly with a playful smile on her face.

“Really don’t want to?”

“No.”

Silvia sat up on the bed and straightened her disheveled clothes. Her heart was beating fast, but she tried hard to keep her hands from trembling.

“I only want to exchange money,” she repeated.

“Once I have the money, I’ll leave.”

Evelyn looked at Silvia for several seconds, then sighed.

“Alright.” Evelyn turned around and walked toward a table in the corner of the room.

“Where are the gems? Let me see them.”

Silvia got off the bed, walked over, and took out the smallest gem from her bosom, placing it on the table.

Evelyn picked up the gem and examined it under the light.

“Good quality. Wait here, I’ll get you the money.”

She opened a drawer in the table, took out several cloth bags, and began counting coins. The room was very quiet, with only the crisp sound of coins clinking.

Silvia stood there, watching Evelyn count the money. Evelyn finished quickly and pushed several cloth bags toward Silvia.

“Sixty-six silver coins and fifty copper coins. Count them yourself.”

Silvia took the cloth bags, opened them to check, and nodded after confirming they were correct. She tied the bags shut and tucked them into her bosom.

“Thank you.”

“Do you need me to explain how to sell emotions? You might need it someday,” Evelyn suddenly said while looking at Silvia.

“No need.” Silvia replied as she turned and walked toward the door.

There was a moment of silence behind her. Then Evelyn laughed. The laughter was still as clear as silver bells, yet carried an indescribable meaning.

“Welcome back anytime.”

Evelyn said with deep implication.
