Chapter 21: I Don’t Like Either

A Dangerous Woman

With women like Feng Xizhi, you couldn’t show too much kindness.

Gu Chi didn’t understand women.

They were the most terrifying creatures.

When you thought them gentle and pure, a wicked heart might lurk beneath.

When you believed them irredeemably bad, a thread of saintly compassion might flicker.

Feng Xizhi was the type to shine with the slightest favor, then push boundaries and climb all over you.

Gu Chi lit a campfire by the stone wall.

Feng Xizhi sat on a blue stone, dangling her fair, slender legs.

Her skirt fanned out in a graceful arc.

Her eyes fixed on the fish he was grilling, sparkling with longing.

Back when he first kidnapped her, her coquettish pleas and extra two thousand stones from her father led him to cook for her.

Her spiritual energy sealed, she wouldn’t starve, but pampered as she was, she couldn’t bear the discomfort.

She’d clung to him, fussing when hungry.

The fish he caught was plump, tender, with no small bones.

Its skin roasted crisp and golden, dripping with fat.

His secret seasoning, blended with rare spices, sent an aroma wafting a hundred meters.

Feng Xizhi wiped her mouth.

“When’s it ready?”

“Not for you.”

He glanced at her.

Her eyes widened.

“So big a fish… we don’t split it?”

“Who’s splitting with you?”

He wasn’t teasing—he had no intention of sharing.

The fish needed a final touch of heat.

He flipped it, waiting ten seconds.

Golden and sizzling, it oozed oil.

He blew on it, took a bite, and smiled, satisfied.

Feng Xizhi watched from the stone, eyes like an autumn pool, a statue of longing.

Barbecue was best hot.

With a cultivator’s robust body, he dug in while it was crisp.

The fish vanished into his stomach.

She watched, swallowing hard as he ate the last third.

“Let me try a bite.”

“Nope.”

He finished it, licking his fingers.

She stared, resentful, then smiled.

“You licking your fingers is so cute.”

He ignored her.

He hadn’t eaten in days; the fish left him half-full.

He took out dried shrimp, scallops, and a fresh vegetable.

With spirit rice, he set up a pot to cook porridge.

“Cook extra… I want a bowl.”

He glanced up.

“None for you.”

“You’re just trying to rile me.”

She puffed her cheeks.

“The more you provoke me, the more I want to tame you.”

“Make you obey me, cling to you.”

“If you were nice, I’d think you weak and lose interest.”

“Don’t care what you think.”

He watched the porridge bubble.

The shrimp and scallops’ sweetness melded with the rice.

A drizzle of sesame oil and a pinch of salt perfected it.

The pot was too big for one.

He filled a small porcelain bowl and handed it to the sulking, staring Feng Xizhi.

“Here’s a bit.”

“Sharp tongue, soft heart.”

She beamed, sipping daintily with a spoon.

Her eyes lit up.

After finishing, she eyed the remaining pot.

“Another bowl?”

“Serve yourself.”

He didn’t refuse.

She eagerly scooped another bowl.

They finished the pot comfortably.

She leaned against the cave wall, satisfied, stealing glances at his face.

“I want grilled fish too.”

“I’ll catch one—you grill it.”

She started to pout.

See? Women—always pushing.

“No mood.”

He shook his head, resting against the wall, eyes closed.

Soon, a rustle.

He opened his eyes.

Feng Xizhi had climbed onto him.

Her petite frame wasn’t heavy.

Her soft hips sat on his thighs, too close.

He frowned.

“What?”

“Wanna look at you close.”

Her face neared.

Her orchid-like scent filled the air.

Her small, tender body pressed close.

Staring at her fair neck, his mind wandered.

After dual cultivation with Pei Ningxue, he’d activated his system, gaining her royal bloodline and supreme wood spirit root.

If he dual-cultivated with Feng Xizhi… a supreme fire spirit root?

So he asked bluntly.

“Want to dual-cultivate with me?”

She froze, eyes wary.

“The kind I’m thinking of?”

“Yes.”

He nodded.

“No, no, no, no way…”

“I’m not grown… I’d break…”

She covered his mouth, stopping him.

His eyes showed a flicker of disappointment.

“Why ask that suddenly?”

She tried hiding her blush, feeling her cheeks heat.

“Just asking.”

“Full, nothing to do.”

“Not here… in the wild…”

“You’re so unreasonable… asking out of nowhere…”

“So your ‘love’ was a lie.”

“No!”

“But… if I agreed…”

“You’d think me cheap, easy…”

“What then?”

“And… I don’t know anything…”

She showed the red chastity mark on her inner arm, muttering.

“Dual-cultivate, and you’d die.”

“Hm?”

“I’d be disengaged.”

“Central Continent would hunt you dead.”

She hesitated.

“You really want to so bad?”

“Yeah.”

He smiled.

“Not now… really…”

Her fingers poked his chest.

“Maybe… I can please you another way…”

“Or… tell me what you like…”

“I’ve seen it in spring palace books…”

Her tone seemed genuine.

He looked at her oddly.

“Really?”

“Of course!”

She tilted her head.

“Then take off your skirt.”

He watched her playfully.

“You… you take it off…”

“Why me?”

“It’s more… fun.”

“But in broad daylight…”

“At least a cave…”

She clutched her skirt, hesitating, cheeks flushed.

After a while, she scanned the area.

Summoning four fire phoenixes with her spiritual sense, she sent them to the four corners.

Confirming no one was within a thousand meters, she reached for her waistband.

Her hand froze, lips bitten, weighing her choice.

He stopped her hand.

“Took too long, lost interest.”

She puffed her cheeks, eyes resentful.

“You know how hard it was to decide?!”

“Your hesitation’s what’s boring.”

“Hmph, you just want to tease me.”

“Got the lust but not the guts.”

“Don’t men love forcing good girls to submit?”

He smirked.

“Your figure’s just not tempting.”

She wiggled her hips on his thighs, annoyed.

He grabbed her waist, lifting her like a cat.

His hands slid under her arms, holding her at eye level.

“Time to go.”

“You’re annoying me.”

“Where am I annoying?”

She pouted, wronged.

“Think of me as a kitten or puppy.”

“Like a cat… meow, meow.”

Her slightly childish face was oddly charming.

Her voice soft and sweet.

He set her down, opening his palm.

She leaned in, licking it with her tender tongue.

“That’s a dog.”

“Puppies are cute too.”

“Too noisy, I don’t like them.”

“I have lots of cats.”

“Like cats?”

“I don’t like either.”

“Oh, cats are fun!”

“Soft fur, chubby, agile.”

“They rub your legs, cuddle in winter.”

“Come to my courtyard after the realm.”

“My cats are so good.”

She licked his palm wet.

Kneeling by his legs, her slim waist dipped.

Her skirt revealed delicate curves.

Her eyes were docile, gentle.

If anyone saw the dignified Fire Phoenix holy daughter like this, they’d be shocked speechless.

She even licked his fingers, her soft tongue gliding.

He grabbed it; she yelped, unable to speak.

Tears welled, drool dripping, eyes pleading yet coaxing.

When he let go, his fingers were wet.

She took a handkerchief, wiping them gently, eyes soft and cautious.

When he pressed his hand to her forehead, she rubbed against it obediently.

He looked down.

“You’re not already planning how to torment me if you get the upper hand, are you?”

“How could I?”

“Kittens love snuggling with their master.”

Her voice was overly sweet.

After a while, she looked up.

“Kitten wants grilled fish.”

“Lazy.”

He refused calmly.
