Chapter 23 : Let’s get a job.

Via scooped up the borrowed books, planning to return them and leave the library.

A few steps out—she ran into Lucy’s entourage.

Hostility blazed in their eyes.

“Via, stay away from Lucy. You’re not allowed to cling to her!”

The girl who’d warned Lucy earlier stepped forward—stern.

“Huh?”

Via baffled—what’s their deal?

No place for you near her. If you’re smart—vanish from her sight. You only bring trouble—got it?”

“…”

Via frowned—surrounded by yapping guard dogs.

She ignored, hugged books, walked off.

“You—!”

The girls fumed—but didn’t chase. Instead, they headed inside—to Lucy.

Lucy sat alone, anger radiating—unapproachable.

“Dared reject me?”

She bit her lip.

Favi heiress rarely tasted defeat.

Her usual “playmates”—tailored bait, easy catches.

Via—seemingly softbounced her hard.

“Wait. You’ll soon learn—without me, you won’t survive this academy.”

Broke.”

Via exited the library—sunny outside, but her face gloomed.

Post-Lucy drama—she realized the real crisis:

NO MONEY!

No cash → no workshop → no artifacts → no potions → no power-up.

Plus, her next target itemcosts gold.

Need funds!

Two legit sources:

1. Holy Land stipend—Beron-controlled. Excellent score? Still stingy. He wanted her gone—no fat checks.

2. Avalon scholarshipexcellent = eligible. But year-end payout. Now? Too late.

Both dead ends. Need other ways.

Me, Demon King—worrying over coins?”

Via grumbled.

Ruling demons: never money issues.

Now? Down bad.

Human money-making?

Part-time job?

Un-Demon-Kingly!

“Our goal: shining stars! Miss, welcome to the Adventurer’s Guild. Task to post?”

Dover City—nearest to Avalon. Guild receptionist greeted.

Slow day—she’d planned a nap. Visitor? Instant pro-smile.

Complaints = pay cut.

“Not posting.”

“Not?”

Receptionist eyed the hat-wearing girl in Avalon uniform.

Avalon students usually commissioned—materials, beast hunts—for assignments.

“I want to register as an adventurer.” Pink-hair stated.

Serious?” Receptionist stunned.

“Of course.”

“Forgive the question—no sponsor family at Avalon?”

Normal query.

Poor Avalon students got sponsor offers post-entry—fund studies, repay post-grad.

No tuition worries.

Adventuring for fees? Time sink—less study → fall behinddropout.

Backward logic—better take sponsors.

“No sponsors. Can’t accept any.” Via looked up—serious.

“Huh? Why—wait…?!

Receptionist gawked.

ViaSylvia’s daughterinfamous across Saint Ro (negatively).

Rules: any citizen/allied could register.

But her weight class? Needed Holy Land approval.

Why skip academy for guild registration?

Bad luck—nap foiled, deity-level headache.

“Sorry, Miss Via. You cannot register as an adventurer.”
