Chapter 25: A Flyer Fiasco and a Misunderstood Motive

Ding ding dang…

“Jingle bells, jingle bells!”

The alarm sang cheerily, but Luo Su crawled out of her blankets like a frostbitten eggplant, wilted and sluggish. That one-hour nap felt like five minutes!

No choice, though.

The 7 a.m. bus would get her there by 8. Work… you could only be early, never late.

Luo Su wrapped her tail around her wrist, hiding it, and bounced out the door. Today, she’d treat herself!

“Boss~ One rice noodle roll!”

She sat on a plastic stool at a street stall, happily counting out seven yuan. The steaming noodles wafted an irresistible aroma—her long-awaited treat!

Her tail wiggled happily under her sleeve.

“Luo Su!”

A familiar voice called. Gao Ye shuffled over, sporting massive dark circles like a sleepy panda.

“Yawn—”

He yawned long. “Boss, one basket of siu mai… and a milk…” (Rubbing his eyes mid-sentence.)

“What’s with you?” Luo Su blinked innocently.

“Don’t ask…”

Gao Ye stuffed a siu mai in his mouth. “Last night, my friend kept patting my head all night—pissed me off! After today… I’m patting back!”

Luo Su: “…”

Village life is doomed.

But… since she started dream-hopping, she hadn’t gamed in ages. Maybe tonight? Nah, looking at Gao Ye… better not.

Burp~

After breakfast, Luo Su hopped on the familiar bus. The weekend morning bus was packed, and she barely snagged a window seat.

“Mmm…”

Staring out, she suddenly spotted a familiar figure—Jiang Cha in her flashy pink car, with someone clearly in the passenger seat!

“???”

A bad feeling hit. Were they that free, or just here by chance?

Her gut screamed the former…

“What a coincidence…”

Gao Ye, unbothered, pulled out his phone to game during the ride. Whether it was the shaky bus or his skills…

“Ah—lost again!”

Eight rounds to finish dailies, Luo Su sneaking a peek at his screen: a glaring “three-game losing streak,” only winning against a bot. (Naruto mechanic: lose three, get a bot match…)

“Gulp…”

Luo Su turned away, stifling a laugh. Gloating wasn’t nice… but too funny!

“Phew…”

At their stop, Gao Ye’s face was red, but he stuffed his phone away, feigning calm. “Piece of cake…”

“Bots are easy,” Luo Su teased.

“!!!”

“No way!” Gao Ye exploded. “I was… practicing a new character! And they were cheating!”

“…”

At the mall, they grabbed stacks of flyers—her grueling work life began. Luo Su, a bit nervous, clutched her pile in a corner, scanning like a wary animal.

“Take it slow… slow…”

She muttered, handing flyers to passersby. Low efficiency, but too flashy, and Jiang Ning might spot her!

Girls’ sixth sense was sharp…

Luo Su glanced at her slender tail, pondering—was a glowing, cute succubus like her… half a girl?

Though her heart was iron-tough.

Pfft… stop thinking!

Blushing, she kept handing out flyers. Word was… a supervisor checked on this job. Better be serious.

“Strange…”

“No sign of her~”

Jiang Cha nibbled her straw, leisurely swirling her milk tea. Sunlight through the mall’s glass cast long shadows.

“You sure…”

“Su Xi’s working here?”

She raised a brow at her sister. Jiang Ning guiltily looked away—she was going on a hunch.

“…”

Jiang Cha got her sister’s scheme, yawning. “Whatever, we’re here. Let’s shop and go.”

“Okay…” Jiang Ning replied absently.

Her gaze drifted to a corner. “Is that… Gao Ye?” Blinking, she heard him whisper to a passerby, “Bro… toss this for me.”

Jiang Ning: “…”

“Smart flyer strategy…” Jiang Cha nodded approvingly.

“Let’s go…”

Jiang Ning sighed, deciding to buy candies—might work on the little one in dreams…

“Fine…”

Jiang Cha pouted, teasing, “You say come, you say go… love makes women scary~”

“Heh…”

Jiang Ning huffed, “Says the one going 65 in a 60 zone~”

Jiang Cha: “…”

Uh-oh, love-struck sister’s brain got sharper!

Luo Su slumped on a mall bench, staring hopelessly at her barely-dwindled flyer stack.

“Ugh…”

“Why so many left…” She’d asked every passerby… yet half remained.

“…”

“Give me one.”

“Sure!” Luo Su perked up—then froze, seeing them.

“…”

Her outstretched wrist froze midair, flyer dangling. Why were both bad women here?! She hid her left hand, switching to her right to hand it over.

“Furniture store ad~”

Jiang Cha glanced at it, then noticed her sister spacing out. She pinched Jiang Ning’s cheek. “Let’s go, buy stuff and head home.”

“Oh…” Jiang Ning snapped back, nodding.

She had a new theory: Luo Su’s flyer-handing was off… like hiding something. Not just classmate awkwardness.

“So…”

“Why’s Su Xi using Luo Su’s appearance?” She recalled the bus incident.

“Ugh…”

Jiang Ning’s eyes lit up with a chuunibyou idea. “So… Luo Su summoned the little succubus?”

But… weird.

Why didn’t the little one visit her host in dreams? Coming to her instead… didn’t add up. Unless… Su Xi liked girls!

That explained everything! Luo Su, that jerk, was using the newbie succubus as a workhorse, forcing her to study and work!

“So mean!”

Jiang Ning stomped, fuming, deciding to treat Su Xi to a good meal later… and teach that bully a lesson in a few days!
