Chapter 26: Reunion with Unexpected Friends (1)
In the fantasy world.
To summarize it more easily, Yu-shin suffered tremendously in the exile story.
This was because it was a dark fantasy world, so all sorts of extraordinary things popped up.
For example, cooking and serving one’s own child while claiming to uphold customs of hospitality.
Or a cold-blooded king sacrificing his people to protect them.
And so on.
It was so bad that when he was exiled, he even thought he just wanted to disappear like that.
Although that wish could not be fulfilled, Yu-shin, to return somehow.
Had no choice but to clear this scenario he was currently in somehow.
‘Usually, a second-year at an academy would be around the mid-point.’
As Yu-shin surmised, this scenario was about halfway through.
However, if there was a problem.
The growth of the original protagonist, Baek Yu-shin, was still stuck in the early stages.
In other words, stronger enemies were appearing than in the early stages.
But the protagonist, Baek Yu-shin, hadn’t grown at all.
Even if Baek Yu-shin hadn’t made an extreme choice, he could have easily lost his life to enemies if something went wrong.
Yu-shin then let out a deep sigh.
“Why are you sighing so much?”
“It’s just one of those things.”
“Could you please not be so friendly with Brother?”
“I-I’m also distinctly chosen by Yu-shin!”
One of the reasons Yu-shin sighed was because of the two women who fought whenever their eyes met.
Ha-young from Class C and Baek Yu-ri, the top student from 1st Year Class A.
Why were they with Yu-shin?
The answer was simple.
Because they received the privileges of Class S.
Class S, unlike other classes, has no grade distinction.
In other words, whether first-year or third-year.
They all received the same classes in the same class.
Moreover, Class S was where students with the academy’s best talents gathered.
So each could receive special benefits from the academy.
For example, taking classes with a few students of their choice.
Or gaining an advantageous position in academy activities.
Representative examples would be the Disciplinary Committee and the Student Council, both belonging to Class S and wielding immense influence.
The Student Council, needless to say, and the Disciplinary Committee had also grown powerful enough to keep the Student Council in check.
It was an undeniable fact that the heads of both organizations were all Class S members.
Anyway, as part of that privilege, Yu-shin could choose 3 students.
Since there was no one suitable to choose.
He just chose 3 people he knew, and things turned out this way.
“Why is everyone fighting whenever there’s an opening?”
“It’s because that dammed woman keeps flirting with Brother!”
“I-when did I ever do that!”
“You’re loud, so be quiet.”
Eventually, Yu-shin, unable to bear it, stepped forward to mediate the fight, and only then did the girls fall silent.
Yu-shin sighed.
He wanted to just go alone, but he couldn’t.
Those guys were highly likely to be the heroines here.
And the heroines of a regret story were deeply involved in the main scenario, just as much as the protagonist.
In other words, if he went around without the heroines, the main scenario could be ruined.
From Yu-shin’s perspective, whose goal was to return, there was no reason to deliberately create unnecessary variables.
“Why did Brother choose women like that?”
“I think that’s a bit harsh…”
“Oh my, isn’t it better than having no shame?”
“…”
I just wish the scenario and everything else would just disappear.
At the sight of them starting to fight again in less than 10 seconds, Yu-shin let out another sigh, who knew how many times.
He couldn’t help it; seeing them was so exhausting.
He involuntarily sighed.
Yu-shin lifted his head.
After about 30 minutes, he had reached the deepest part of the academy.
A newly built school building came into view.
Was this Class S?
“I’ve heard about it, but it’s much neater than I thought!”
“Indeed, it looks like its facilities are much better than any other building in the academy.”
“W-well, of course, the place we were in wasn’t bad either, but.”
As Selena, Yu-ri, and Ha-young evaluated.
The original classroom wasn’t bad in terms of facilities.
But compared to the sight of Class S unfolding before them, it was utterly insignificant.
However, Yu-shin had no particular impression.
Instead, irritation surged.
The reason was that the distance was too far, making it difficult to commute.
But his irritation lasted only a moment.
Yu-shin soon collected himself and entered Class S.
If it was to return to his original world, if only he could return.
He was willing to go along with any rhythm.
However, Yu-shin, who had come with such determination.
Had never dreamed that a completely unexpected person would be waiting for him in Class S.
It was a girl with black hair and sharp eyes.
She boasted an incredible physique that could hardly be called a student’s.
Honestly, at first, he wondered if she was an instructor in Class S.
But he realized that wasn’t the case thanks to Selena’s fuss right beside him.
“P-president!
What brings you here?!”
“I heard there was a new student joining.
So I wanted to meet them personally.”
‘Judging by Selena’s reaction, that woman must be Disciplinary Committee President Kang Seol-yeon, right?’
It was surprisingly unexpected how much more easygoing her personality was than he thought.
He had expected someone with power to be much more arrogant and domineering.
Anyway, the Disciplinary Committee President wanted to meet him personally, so Yu-shin smiled and extended his hand.
“Nice to meet you, my name is…”
“I already know your name.
You’re quite famous, more than I thought?”
“Famous?
Me?”
“You defeated Selena, a promising talent in the Disciplinary Committee, so it’s natural.”
To think that the noisy one beside him from earlier was a promising talent.
For a moment, those words surged to Yu-shin’s throat.
But he managed to suppress them somehow.
Knowing that there was no good in slandering others in front of them.
Yu-shin, facing Disciplinary Committee President Kang Seol-yeon, could easily calculate her estimate.
‘She’s ridiculously strong.’
Was it because it was an academy story?
To an unimaginable extent in the fantasy world.
There were countless individuals with absurd strength at a very young age.
To precisely describe Kang Seol-yeon’s strength, she could be said to be at the very top among hero-class individuals.
He even wondered if she could display hero-level combat power with just a little more effort.
But to think such a talented individual would personally come out to welcome a new student, that was surprising in itself.
“I apologize.
I originally planned to introduce the Class S members personally.”
“Is something wrong?”
“Coincidentally, our schedules overlap, so everyone is out.
I’m also planning to leave tomorrow.”
“Leaving?
Where are you going?”
“There are various things.
Field training, cultivation, external education, and so on.”
“Does Class S receive support for things like that?”
According to Kang Seol-yeon, Class S members received treatment almost equivalent to active professionals.
Not only did they receive performance-based pay.
They even participated directly in monster subjugations.
Naturally, if they subjugated monsters during their academy days, that would remain in their career and be helpful.
However, she added that it was extremely rare for all Class S members to leave together like this.
‘Usually in cases like this, the academy gets attacked.’
Listening to her story, no matter how he thought about it.
Class S sounded like nothing less than the academy’s ultimate fighting force.
But coincidentally, everyone except himself would be absent starting tomorrow?
No matter how he looked at it, it looked like nothing but a raid event that appears at least once in academy stories.
“Could the academy be attacked?”
“What?
Haha, that’s impossible, isn’t it?”
At Yu-shin’s question, Seol-yeon laughed heartily and shook her head from side to side.
The academy was a training institution that nurtured future heroes to subjugate monsters.
In other words, it boasted security comparable to a military facility.
Therefore, an attack was almost impossible.
Of course, there were cases of past attacks, but most were repelled at the entrance.
So, Seol-yeon’s explanation was not to worry unnecessarily.
Yu-shin nodded.
‘It’s 100% going to be attacked.’
Yu-shin was now completely certain.
An ominous premonition never goes wrong.
The next day, as Yu-shin was commuting to Class S as usual, he soon noticed that the atmosphere was unusual.
For starters, unfamiliar large figures were occupying the entrance.
If he didn’t notice that, wouldn’t he be more than a fool—a blind man?
Judging by the fact that no alarm sounded, it seemed the academy didn’t yet know that monsters had invaded.
Or, the security system had been neutralized by someone.
However, there was one thing Yu-shin hadn’t predicted.
That the large figures in front were very familiar to Yu-shin.
Bipedal like humans, yet with considerably muscular arms and legs.
Compared to that, a belly full of fat.
Their massive size, at least 4 meters tall, told him that they were not ordinary humans.
Yu-shin uttered their name.
“Ogre?”
Why were monsters from the fantasy world here?
No, he was told there were monsters.
So there could be ogres.
Despite being clearly different worlds and different scenarios.
