Chapter 3: The magical girl is itching to fight!

At three-thirty in the morning, Dongfang Cheng was jolted awake by a crackling, electric noise from the living room.

“Ha… TV left on?”

Rubbing tears from his eyes, yawning, he shuffled out in slippers.

In the dim living room, only the TV screen cast a ghostly glow.

On it, a middle-aged host in a flashy gold-sequined suit waved a gaudy bottled drink with fervor.

“—Still sighing over late-night burnout?! Introducing the one and only, endorsed by the Horse Racing Association—[Super Honey Power Drink]!

The champion’s choice, loved by triple-crown winners!

Call the hotline now at 1919810—”

“Shut up…”

Dongfang Cheng muttered, groping the sofa for the remote.

Just as he was about to hit the power button, silencing the noisy salesman and his honey drink forever, the screen flickered, switching to Duhuang City TV’s emergency broadcast.

“We interrupt with urgent news: Five minutes ago, Xingyu Villa District in Xishan District was attacked by a large monster from Ouroboros.

Multiple fires and building damages reported; casualty numbers unclear.

The city’s emergency office has issued a Level 1 response.

Residents in and around Xishan District, evacuate immediately, avoid danger zones, and await further official updates.

We repeat, Ouroboros has attacked Xingyu Villa District—”

Xingyu Villa District… isn’t that where Gouda just moved to?!

The news hit like a bucket of ice water, shattering his lingering sleepiness.

That name was burned into his memory—Lin Feng had mentioned it at least twenty times.

He dropped the remote, sprinted back to his room, grabbed his phone from the nightstand, and dialed Lin Feng.

But all he got was the cold, repetitive, “The number you have dialed is temporarily unavailable.”

Dongfang Cheng’s brows knotted tightly.

Lin Feng might act like a careless idiot, but he’d never ignore a call during an obvious crisis.

Unless—

“Damn Ouroboros, picking the worst f*cking spot!”

His mind raced: Wait for the other magical girls?

It’s three-thirty in the morning.

Even with their emergency systems, dragging those five pampered girls out of their cozy beds, getting them transformed, assembled, and rushing to Xishan District—by then, Lin Feng would probably be halfway through his isekai harem arc.

Rely on the authorities?

Please.

Regular bullets barely tickled basic Ouroboros fighters, let alone monsters.

Duhuang’s government was notoriously useless—good at cracking down on citizens with batons, but never in the news for anything positive.

After weighing options, it seemed he had to go himself.

Dongfang Cheng instinctively touched the cold, black watch on his wrist and the diamond-shaped black crystal pendant tucked under his clothes.

Just hours ago, that black cat had reminded him of the irreversible side effects of transforming.

Now, his friend’s safety hinged on him transforming again.

It’s just a bit more muscle loss.

He’d still be buffer than Lin Feng’s scrawny self.

Without that guy’s chatter, life would get real boring.

“Idiot… if you dare die on me, I’ll use your magical girl figurines to weigh down instant noodles.”

Dongfang Cheng growled, as if cursing could quell his anxiety.

He yanked the red string from his neck, aligning the black crystal pendant with a slot on his watch’s face.

Click.

A faint mechanical snap sounded as the crystal slotted perfectly into the terminal.

A torrent of dark light erupted from the wrist terminal, engulfing Dongfang Cheng like a living night.

His masculine edges softened rapidly in the black glow, replaced by a girl’s slender frame and graceful curves.

A cascade of jet-black hair spilled down like a pierced night sky, reaching her waist, its tips swaying faintly in the energy’s aftershock, glinting with a dark sheen.

In real-world time, only a second passed.

As the overwhelming black light receded back into the terminal, standing there was a girl, about one-sixty tall, clad in a black battle outfit and matching knee-high boots.

Her long black hair flowed freely post-transformation, revealing eyes sharp as winter stars in the dark.

Dongfang Cheng—no, the girl now dubbed the “Black Magical Girl” by the public—slowly raised her hands, flexing them.

They were small, delicate hands, proportionate to her petite frame.

Her fingers, long and slender, looked carved from fine jade, every joint clearly defined.

Pale skin peeked out between her sleeves and gloves, so smooth it seemed to glow.

Her nails were neatly trimmed, faintly pink with health.

But if anyone could read this magical girl’s mind, they’d see one thought:

‘Itchy hands, craving a fight!’

The girl slipped out the second-floor window, landing silently on the ground.

She dodged key street cameras, flitting through shadows to an empty street corner.

After confirming no one was around, the Black Magical Girl bent her knees slightly.

Her slender legs unleashed explosive power.

Toward Xishan District, she leaped!

Unlike the official magical girls with their graceful flight and dazzling trails, the “Black Magical Girl” couldn’t even fly.

For long-distance travel, she relied purely on her hardworking legs, bounding step by step.

Meanwhile, in Xingyu Villa District, a wolf-like monster the size of a small truck rampaged.

Covered in coarse black fur, drooling foul saliva, it destroyed everything in sight.
