Chapter 39: Blood debt must be paid with blood! Outrageous!

Amid the clamor of the crowd, a middle-aged man, brimming with earnest concern, couldn’t bear to watch any longer.
He bent down, gently patting the shoulder of the distraught father.

“Brother, get up first. The ground’s cold.”

His voice was warm yet firm.

“Calm down and tell us all what happened. Only then can we help you figure things out, right?”

The surrounding crowd chimed in, their voices overlapping.

“Yeah, yeah, uncle, speak up! Don’t carry this alone!”

“What’s going on? If there’s injustice, say it! We’ll stand up for you!”

Seeing the situation, the man decisively reached out, pulling the father up from the icy ground, even brushing the dust off his knees with care.

Perhaps it was the crowd’s kindness that gave him a sliver of strength.
The father, eyes red and swollen, wiped the tears from his face with force.
His hoarse voice echoed through the megaphone, reaching every corner.

“Everyone… you’ve probably heard about the recent case in Gan City, the missing teenager, right?”

Some in the crowd nodded.

“I heard. The news said the kid was found?”

“My son… the missing child… that was my son, Wang Guang…”
The father’s voice choked, thick with unending pain.

“Three days ago, the police found my son’s body in an abandoned greenhouse…”

“He… he was brutally tortured, and then… then buried alive!”

At these words, the man broke down, covering his face as he wailed in agony.

The words “buried alive” sent a collective gasp through the crowd.

Lin Qingya’s pupils constricted, a chill surging through her.

Abandoned greenhouse…

Those four words instantly connected to the eerie mission she and Xia Momo had just completed.

The father, oblivious to the crowd’s shock, wiped his tears, his gaze hollow and despairing.

“The police forensic team performed an autopsy at the morgue. I… I was there the whole time, watching, staying with my son for his final four hours…”

“You don’t know… you can’t imagine how severe his injuries were… Seven broken ribs, bruises and wounds all over his body, his face… his face was so mangled by a shovel it was unrecognizable…”

“I watched the entire autopsy. I completely broke down… My Guangguang… my son…”

At this, the grieving father could no longer hold himself together, clutching his head as he sobbed uncontrollably.

His heart-wrenching cries brought tears to the eyes of many sensitive girls in the crowd.

Lin Qingya’s body began to tremble slightly.

Her left hand, gripping a plastic bag, tightened until her nails nearly dug into her palm.

The father’s next words shattered the last shred of hope in her heart.

“Originally! The police had identified three suspects who constantly bullied him at school, based on surveillance and evidence. They were even detained!”

“But this afternoon, they suddenly said… said some unknown people approached the greenhouse where my son was buried!”

“Because of that, they’re delaying the investigation into those three bullies!”

“Now! Now their lawyer is going around claiming that the two oddly dressed strangers this afternoon are the real murderers who killed my son!”

Boom—!

Something seemed to explode in Lin Qingya’s mind.

Abandoned greenhouse… buried alive… school bullying… two oddly dressed suspects…

All the clues connected perfectly in that moment.

So that was it.

That was it!

This was the true purpose of that damned transformation device’s so-called “soil reinforcement” mission!

It wasn’t about covering up a crime.

It was about making them the new “criminals”!

It was about using their magical girl identities to take the fall for the real culprits—those bullies!

A towering rage surged from Lin Qingya’s heart.

How outrageous!

Utterly outrageous!

Looking at the father before her, driven to the edge, reduced to roaring for help in the streets, a fierce compassion and shared anger rose within her.

Her eyes reddened, tears welling up.

The thought of that poor child, bullied to death, his remains denied peace…

And this despairing father, robbed of his son and justice…

She and Xia Momo, unknowingly, had been used as scapegoats to let those real murderers walk free!

If… if she didn’t have her intangibility ability, if they had been caught by the dozens of police on the spot…

She didn’t dare imagine what would have happened to her and Xia Momo!

Framed as murderers? Wanted nationwide? Reviled by everyone?

Once magical girls, a supernatural existence, were exposed to the public, it would trigger unimaginable consequences.

And those true devils? They’d use this chance, with their lawyers’ help, to clear their names and continue living carefree!

Why should they?!

At this thought, Lin Qingya’s fury reached its peak.

She couldn’t sit idly by!

This wasn’t just about seeking justice for that pitiful family.

It was about seeking justice for herself, for being deceived and framed!

Instinctively, she glanced at Bai Wanting beside her.

Bai Wanting’s face still carried a gentle smile.
She looked at her quietly, giving a slight nod, and spoke softly, so only they could hear:

“Whatever Xiaoya wants to do, just do it.”

“I’ve got your back.”

Those simple four words filled Lin Qingya with boundless courage and confidence.

Yes.

She wasn’t alone.

Behind her stood her beloved Sister Xiaobai, always.

Emboldened, Lin Qingya took a deep breath.

She let go of Bai Wanting’s hand and stepped forward, weaving through the crowd still comforting the father.

“Uncle, may I ask the names of those three bullies?”

Her voice wasn’t loud, but it was clear, cutting through the surrounding murmurs.

“And where are they now?”

She stayed hidden behind the crowd, concealing her face.

“I think everyone here would like to know the status of those three real culprits.”

Her words ignited the crowd.

“Yes! Name those three little beasts!”

“Yeah, tell us who these scumbags are!”

The father, hearing Lin Qingya’s words, froze for a moment, then gave a bitter smile and shook his head.
“They… they’re Zhang Biao, Li Qiang, and Ma Hua.”

“The three of them are… comfortably sitting in the police station, undergoing so-called ‘investigation’… It’s laughable.”

This revelation set the crowd’s anger ablaze.

“Why are they still in the police station? Isn’t that just protecting them?!”

A young man with glasses in the crowd quickly added, “I’ve been following this case for days. I heard those little beasts come from influential families!”

“One’s dad is a minor official in our city, another’s family runs a big company—rich and powerful!”

“When this happened, the school tried everything to suppress it. The police dragged their feet on the case, and just when there was some progress, this mess came up!”

Zhang Biao, Li Qiang, Ma Hua.

Lin Qingya etched those three names into her memory.

Her face, still flushed from the sweetness of her date, now turned icy and grim.

From behind the crowd, she silently bowed deeply to the father.

Then she turned, returning to Bai Wanting’s side, taking her cool hand again.

“Sister Xiaobai, let’s go.”

Bai Wanting didn’t ask questions. She gently rubbed the back of Lin Qingya’s hand with her fingers, quietly following as Lin Qingya led her away.

As they passed the crowd, Bai Wanting’s gaze briefly flicked to the photo in front of the father.

She knew exactly what Lin Qingya was thinking.

In truth, she was even angrier than Lin Qingya.

That damned transformation device, and whatever was behind it, dared to target her Xiaoya.

Dared to frame her precious treasure, whom she held so dear?

They were courting death…
