Chapter 40: Need to Verify

Lin Xiaoxiao grabbed Zhou Ting’s hand, pleading, “I know I was wrong, please, no more trying, okay?”

His eyes gleamed with mischief as he lifted her fair chin, chuckling. “Really sorry?”

She nodded frantically, putting on a cute, obedient act, clasping her hands and widening her eyes. “Yes, really, I’m sorry…”

Zhou Ting’s throat bobbed, and he smirked. “Too late. I’m trying every shade tonight.”

He picked up another lipstick, applying it to her lips.

Tears welled in her eyes, but she couldn’t resist his antics, kissed again and again…

After a long while, under the warm lights, Lin Xiaoxiao stared at her swollen lips and neck marks in the bathroom mirror, tears of regret streaming down.

Her resolve hardened—she had to escape this man!

He was too terrifying. Staying with him would ruin her…

But the next day, watching him on the sofa, she hesitated to speak.

Zhou Ting noticed her troubled look and asked, “Something on your mind? You keep staring.”

She froze, glancing at the system’s攻略值 (affection level)—still 30%.

It was clear: to him, she wasn’t even a friend, just a mistress for his desires…

Steeling herself, she stepped forward. “Zhou Ting, I need to talk.”

He raised an eyebrow, setting down his phone. “About what?”

Under his piercing gaze, her face flushed. She placed the bank card before him.

He frowned, already suspecting something.

As expected, she mustered her courage, her tone firm. “Here’s thirty thousand. I want to end this relationship!”

His brow furrowed further, eyeing the card. “Where’d you get the money?”

She faltered, guilt flashing, but stood her ground. “That’s none of your business. I’m done with you!”

He remained calm, standing to tower over her.

His dangerous gaze made her heart race, and she stepped back. “W-well? Say something—do you agree?”

His lips curled, and he yanked her against the wall, pinning her hands above her head. “Lin Xiaoxiao, you need some discipline, don’t you?”

Her heart trembled, and she struggled. “W-what are you talking about? I’m serious!”

“Oh, really?” His voice dripped with mockery.

His free hand began to wander, unrestrained.

“Mmph…” Her body stiffened, then softened, trembling.

“Your mouth can lie, but your body’s honest,” he teased, kissing her as her eyes grew hazy.

Shame surged, and she denied it. “N-no, that’s not true.”

“Isn’t it? Let’s verify that…” His hands grew bolder, making her legs shake.

“No, stop…” she pleaded.

Soon, on the sofa, having skipped breakfast, she was “fed” a hot “fried dough stick,” her hair disheveled, her gaze dazed and sultry.

Zhou Ting spoke. “Who gave you the card?”

She let out a muffled groan, clinging to her last shred of defiance, biting her lip.

Seeing her resistance, he intensified the “feeding.”

Unable to hold out, her eyes rolled back, hands slapping his arm as her voice broke with a sob. “Stop… please…”

He didn’t relent. “Tell me, and I’ll stop.”

Struggling, the overwhelming sensation broke her resolve. “Fine… I’ll tell you…”

Satisfied, he lifted her, soothing her trembling “bunnies.” “See? Just tell me. Who gave it to you?”

Panting, drenched in sweat, she hesitated but bit out, “Xin Wan… it was her.”

Her spirit wilted. Saying it meant she’d never escape his grasp.

Zhou Ting wasn’t surprised. “As expected. Only she’d meddle like this.”

She glared. “You knew?”

He hummed noncommittally, nibbling her tender neck.

“Mmph…” She stifled a groan, fighting the sensations. “If you knew, why make me say it?”

It felt like being toyed with, like a dog by its master…

He chuckled. “How else would I crush your little escape plan?”

Her heart sank, tears welling up with grievance. “Jerk, you just love bullying me!”

Seeing her cry, his heart stirred. He kissed her fiercely, declaring unreasonably, “This is nothing. I’ll bully you plenty more. You’re mine—you can’t escape!”

“Even if I get bored of you, I’ll lock you in a cage. No other man will touch you…”

His devilish vow stunned her, halting her tears as she stared, dumbfounded.

She realized how terrifying he was—and how trapped she was.

“You… you can’t do that! I’m a person, not a pet!”

He smiled faintly. “The moment you made that deal, you became my canary, didn’t you?”

She was speechless, and he continued, “Besides, you enjoy it, don’t you? Your body’s thrilled.”

He raised his glistening hand, his gaze teasing.

Her face burned, and she shook her head, mortified. “No, it’s not like that…”
