Chapter 43: You are too holy mother
A Bitter Misunderstanding
Lin Lu felt like a mute swallowing bitter medicine, unable to explain himself. He wished Su Keke could see a replay of Mi Xue’s terrifying expression ten minutes ago. No need for a replay—it was straight out of a classic anime: the kettle whistles, a sudden glance back, a cleaver swings, and heads roll…
“Senior, didn’t your teachers tell you not to jump to conclusions?” Lin Lu looked at Su Keke earnestly, desperate to regain her trust and avoid being labeled a cheater.
But Su Keke ripped off her mask, her face contorted with disgust. “Tch! Save it for the ghosts! You were hoping I wouldn’t show up to ruin your fun!”
Seeking Backup
Lin Lu turned to Mi Xue, hoping she’d stand up for him, but her face was red to her neck, mortified by Su Keke’s crude words.
“I… I wouldn’t use emergency con-contraceptives. They contain high doses of levonorgestrel and mifepristone, disrupting hormonal balance, causing irregular periods, weight changes, skin issues, even fertility risks…”
Lin Lu wiped his face, making things worse.
A Cold Dismissal
“Scum! We’ll settle this at home!” Su Keke brushed past him, grabbed Mi Xue’s hand, and said, “Come on, inside.”
With a sharp glance at Lin Lu to stay put, she pulled Mi Xue into the bedroom.
Lin Lu shrugged, returning to the table to eat. That chicken soup was too good to waste.
A Tense Confrontation
Bang.
Su Keke shut the door, released Mi Xue’s hand, and crossed her arms, sizing up Mi Xue, who’d matured over the years—especially that “lewd” chest of hers!
Though shorter and two years younger, Su Keke’s commanding stage presence, honed from years of performing, dwarfed Mi Xue, who spent her days cooped up in a lab.
Mi Xue stood meekly in the corner, overshadowed. Her face blindness made it take a moment to recognize Su Keke, even without the mask.
A Blunt Accusation
“You’re cozying up to Lin Lu for revenge, right?” Su Keke cut to the chase. “He’s my assigned partner now, and it’s public. I can’t let him get hurt on your watch—it’d look bad for me. Stop it. I’ll handle his punishment and make sure you’re all satisfied.”
But Mi Xue shook her head innocently, denying any revenge.
Su Keke sighed. “We’re both his victims. I know what you’re thinking. He hurt you worse than anyone—how could you not want to take him down while he’s weak?”
Yet Mi Xue shook her head like a rattle drum.
A Surprising Forgiveness
“Don’t you hate him at all?” Su Keke couldn’t believe it, but Mi Xue’s expression seemed genuine.
Mi Xue gripped her dress hem, thinking before speaking softly.
“I do hate him, I guess. But his family’s bankrupt, he’s alone, surviving on his own. That’s punishment enough…
And while he bullied me, he helped me too. Without him, I wouldn’t have gotten my bachelor’s-master’s-PhD track, let alone become an associate professor…
Plus, he’s not hurting girls anymore. He’s matured a lot. We’re older than him—ex-girlfriends, but like his sisters. Being lenient with a little brother isn’t a big deal…”
A Saintly Perspective
Su Keke struggled to keep a straight face. Was Mi Xue too saintly?
But her words hit home. Su Keke had thought the same—Lin Lu had hurt her but helped her too. Still, she wasn’t ready to let him off so easily.
Sleeping beside him now, seeing him snoring like a dead pig, she couldn’t resist kicking him off the bed for old times’ sake.
She didn’t believe Mi Xue had no temper. Surely she’d at least want to tie him up and give him a beating?
A Shift in Perspective
But then Su Keke paused. Was that even revenge? Just a playful tantrum? Back when he first humiliated her, she’d fantasized about tearing him apart.
Now, in a lawful society, she couldn’t—and wouldn’t—destroy her life over it. She hated him, but loved him too…
Maybe Mi Xue was right. Lin Lu’s fall from a powerful rich kid to a groveling toy for his exes was punishment enough.
A Moment of Relief
If Mi Xue wasn’t lying, Su Keke could relax. She’d planned to drag Lin Lu home but grew uneasy, fearing Mi Xue might do something drastic. Seeing them so close at the door had actually been a relief—no real harm done.
As Su Keke prepared to leave, a realization hit her.
A New Suspicion
Mi Xue didn’t want revenge but was still so intimate with Lin Lu. Was she trying to steal him?
Su Keke spun back, wary. “If you’re not out for revenge, stay away from him. No funny ideas. He’s my boyfriend now, and I call the shots!”
Mi Xue bit her lip, her eyes dodging, as if ignoring the warning.
A Soft Plea
Su Keke wasn’t sure if she got through. She couldn’t be harsh with Mi Xue like she was with Zhuang Yan Yue. She was tough with tough people but soft with soft ones, and Mi Xue’s gentleness disarmed her.
As she turned to leave, Mi Xue’s pleading voice stopped her. “Keke… can you not bully Junior Lin too much? I don’t know if he told you about his life before junior high, but he had a tough childhood…”
An Indignant Defense
“Me, bully him?” Su Keke nearly laughed, feeling wronged. “How am I bullying him? I let him sleep in my bed, not the couch, and I even let him see my… chest in the morning!”
It was as if she, the official girlfriend, was being painted as cruel and needed another woman’s lecture!
But the real issue was Lin Lu had secrets she didn’t know—secrets he’d shared with Mi Xue, not her. Did that mean he trusted Mi Xue more?
Even if she despised the jerk, past or present, she wouldn’t allow any woman to matter more to him than she did!
