Chapter 45: Dabo Candidate
It was the weekend, and Feifei Bai invited Xiaoxiao Ye to go shopping.
But with empty pockets, shopping wasn’t much fun.
That’s when a kind, beautiful big sister became absolutely essential.
“Xiaoxiao, wait for me. I’ll go get some startup funds.”
“Okay.”
Feifei Bai dashed upstairs with a thud thud thud, and soon her voice echoed down.
“My sweet, soft, kind-hearted, fair-skinned, gorgeous big sister!”
Yao Bai lounged on her bed, a small desk in front of her holding a laptop.
She was binge-watching a show.
“What’s up?”
Hearing Feifei’s flattery, Yao Bai’s heart swelled with joy.
But she knew her little sister well—trouble was coming.
“Sister~” Feifei pounced on Yao Bai, pouting. “Sister, sister, can you give me a little money, pretty please?”
Yao Bai frowned, just as she’d suspected.
This kid was up to no good.
In the past, Yao Bai would’ve grilled Feifei about what she needed the money for.
Not anymore.
She pinched Feifei’s pouty lips, pulling her sister into a tight, playful hug.
Her sister was soft, sweet, and utterly adorable.
Just sometimes naughty enough to make Yao Bai want to spank her.
“Alright, I sent you a thousand. Use it for now, tell me if you need more.” Yao Bai grabbed her phone and made the transfer.
“Wow! Thank you, Sister!”
Feifei checked the transfer, her love for her sister beyond words.
“Mua~”
“Okay, okay, go have fun.”
Feifei ran downstairs, shouting with glee.
“Woo-hoo! Xiaoxiao, I’ve got money! Let’s go!”
“Feifei, how much did you get from your sister?”
“Heh, not telling you.”
“…”
Hearing their faint chatter outside, Yao Bai gazed at the blue sky through the window and smiled.
But her smile didn’t last long.
Rou Ye arrived.
“Yao~”
Rou Ye opened the door, a gust of cool air blowing in.
“What are you doing here?”
“…”
Rou Ye froze, staring at Yao Bai with disbelief.
“I’m here to hang out with you, obviously.”
“Emmm, I don’t feel like hanging out with you right now.”
Yao Bai’s words were blunt, a bit harsh.
But if she didn’t shut Rou Ye down firmly, she’d get too bold.
Rou Ye was getting weirder—starting with hugs, she’d moved on to cheek kisses.
If Yao Bai let her keep going, she was sure Rou Ye would make a move one day.
Yuri was such a scary thing.
“Yao~ You’re breaking my heart.”
Rou Ye looked sad, sitting on the bed’s edge, pouting with her red lips, gazing at Yao Bai pitifully.
As if Yao Bai’s words had caused her immense grievance.
They’d known each other for years—closer than sisters, the best of friends.
Yao Bai softened.
“Ugh, come up.”
“Yao, you’re the best~”
Rou Ye happily kicked off her shoes, climbed onto Yao Bai’s bed, and hugged her, half-lying on her, nuzzling into Yao Bai’s softest spot.
“No funny business, or you’re getting off.”
Yao Bai said sternly, and Rou Ye grinned, nodding to promise she wouldn’t touch.
Whether she’d keep her mouth to herself was another question~
…
In the bustling shopping district, Feifei Bai, armed with a fortune, treated Xiaoxiao Ye to all the good stuff.
Xiaoxiao was practically Feifei’s fangirl by now.
“Feifei, I want that little cake.”
“Buy it!”
“Feifei, can you get me a milk tea?”
“Get two—I want one too!”
“Feifei…”
“Buy it!”
Whenever Xiaoxiao wanted something, Feifei waved her hand and bought it.
For her best friend, Feifei spared no expense!
Especially since Xiaoxiao was her childhood friend—their bond was unbreakable.
“Feifei, you’re the best. Next time you mess up, I’ll take the fall for you.”
As a good friend, Xiaoxiao wasn’t just freeloading—she knew to give back.
Her words hit Feifei right in the heart.
At school, Feifei was a poor student, super mischievous.
Despite being a cute girl, she acted like a boy.
She was always in trouble—forgetting homework today, convincing classmates to skip it tomorrow.
As class monitor, Xiaoxiao had covered for Feifei and taken the blame plenty.
Over time, even the best friendship could breed resentment.
But now, Xiaoxiao was thrilled—what’s a little blame? She could handle ten more!
“That’s more like it! My bestie! Today’s on me!”
“Feifei’s awesome! Sister Feifei’s the best! I’d crash into walls for Feifei!”
Xiaoxiao shouted, licking her ice cream, Feifei now a sacred figure in her eyes.
“Wabi-babu?”
A strange white animal they didn’t know appeared, sitting in front of them, tilting its head and making odd sounds.
“What’s this animal?”
Feifei, curious, crouched down and touched its little head.
Its fur was fluffy, the texture amazing.
“Looks like a white ferret.”
Xiaoxiao crouched too, stroking the ferret’s fur—it wasn’t scared, even seeming human-like.
When they petted it, it leaned closer.
“Why’s a ferret on the street, unafraid? Is it someone’s pet?”
“Pet?” Xiaoxiao was surprised. “Feifei, ferrets can’t be pets, can they? They’re protected animals.”
“Are they? Didn’t know. But it seems abandoned—maybe we should take it home. You don’t tell, I won’t tell, no one will know.”
Feifei reached to pick up the ferret, but as she touched its fur, it twisted and darted off, leaving a blur.
At a corner, the ferret stopped, looked back at them, and said, “Makabaka.”
It made another strange sound and ran into an alley.
“Is it telling us to follow?” Xiaoxiao wasn’t sure.
“Who cares? Let’s check it out.”
“Alright.”
They hit it off and followed the ferret, weaving through the alley, emerging onto another street.
The ferret stopped at a flower shop with “Flower Shop” written on it.
It stood up, pushed open the heavy glass door, and slipped inside.
The girls exchanged a glance, amazed a tiny ferret could open such a door.
Inside, the ferret spoke human words.
“Ran Huang, Shu Long, I found two magical girl candidates. They’re coming—get ready!”
