Chapter 50: Some are happy, some are sad

As they returned to the Adventurer’s Guild, Lorena stayed in the carriage, ready to leave Barlia.

“You’re leaving the kingdom?” Cynthia asked.

“I talked a lot with Miss Ina while you were with Zekas,” Lorena said, gazing into the distance with a faint smile.
“I’ve never left Barlia. I want to see other places.”

“Following Ina’s advice?” Cynthia teased, glancing at her.
“She’s hopelessly lost most of the time.”

“Goodbye, Cynthia-senpai, Ina-san! Safe journey!”

The carriage rolled off, kicking up dust.
Cynthia and Ina watched until it vanished.

“Cynthia-chan~” Ina nudged her, grinning.
“Didn’t expect you to bless people~”

“What do you think I am?” Cynthia rolled her eyes, pointing at the Guild.
“Let’s go. Tiani owes us for the commission.”he letter, hands trembling as he read.
His voice shook—not with fear, but excitement.

“As expected of Lady Cynthia, such foresight!”

He turned to Okolis, eyes gleaming.
“Your good days are coming. Speed up the post station!”

“Oh!”

Okolis, clueless but trusting, shrugged.
If it’s from Big Sister Cynthia, it’s gotta be good.

“What do you think of her plan?”

“Frankly… it could shake the empire. I don’t recommend—”

“If you think it’s bad, it must be brilliant!” Noin laughed.
“Tell His Majesty the princess sent gifts. Go!”

“You’re ignoring me again…” the subordinate sighed.
“You’ll keep the appointment?”

“Of course!”

Noin stood, clutching the letter gleefully.
“I want to meet this ‘nice’ human noble she’s raving about.”

In a northern hall, cold light filtered through stained glass, illuminating a lifeless round table.

A furious voice echoed.
“Numbers 27, 28, and 29—gone?”

“Yes… we’ve lost contact. Someone disrupted our plan in Bazerolle.”

“Who could defeat three Holy Slaughter Canon masters?!”

“Likely… Kalmoz vampires.”

Murmurs rippled.

“Blood clan?”

“Alicia avoids such matters…”

“Did our agents… and the Blood Demon Artifact… provoke her?”

“Hmph. We have the Scarlet Blood Crown. They’ll pay soon enough.”

“We haven’t mastered it yet… and it’s still in Barlia. I’m concerned—”

“No need.”

A red figure rapped the table, silencing the room.
“I’ve sent Glorious Canon elites to guard the Crown in the capital.”

“Why not Holy Slaughter Canon?”

“They have bigger tasks.”

“Bigger than—”

“Other great artifacts,” the figure cut in.
“We’ve found traces of the Heavenly Artifact, alongside the Demonic one.”

“A divine weapon?!”

“Not yet. Patience.”

“Soon, we’ll crush them.”

“In God’s name!”

Cynthia’s deal with Zekas secured infrastructure and tea for Kalmoz, but her focus was the capital’s Blood Crown.
Lorena’s departure left Ina and Cynthia to face the corrupted Church alone.
Ina, hiding her Saint identity, teetered closer to exposure as Cynthia’s “purge list” loomed.
Letters to Tara and Noin sparked excitement, hinting at broader plans.
Meanwhile, the Church’s schemes deepened—holding the Blood Crown, eyeing divine artifacts, and targeting vampires.
Luofengte remained a ghost, but the capital beckoned with danger and answers.
