Chapter 51: Poor Chi Ling!

Aphrosia’s gaze turned icy, her resolve unyielding. Her mother’s ring was her bottom line—anyone coveting it would face her wrath.

Her slender fingers tightly gripped the intricately patterned spatial ring on her left hand, head lowered, lost in thought.

“Your hearing’s that sharp? Even we didn’t notice…” Blazewing tilted her head, puzzled.

“Oh, that? Don’t you know elves have keen senses? Even if I’m in my Aphrosia state…”

Here, Aphrosia mentally grumbled again. She could use all of Flo’s active and passive skills, but Flo couldn’t tap into any of her abilities—so unfair!

“Forget that. Aren’t you forgetting something?” Blazewing pressed.

“Hm? What?” Aphrosia asked, feigning innocence with a blank look.

“The Genesis Fruit! You promised when I delivered that letter!” Blazewing puffed up, even her head feathers bristling.

“Oh, that…” Aphrosia murmured thoughtfully, trailing off.

Blazewing waited, then squinted suspiciously. “…You’re not planning to welch, are you?”

As they bickered, Mistfeather stealthily slipped something from behind her and swallowed it, her sneaky demeanor like a thief afraid of being caught by her sister.

No surprise—it was the Genesis Fruit, the magical item that could grant high-level magical beasts a human form, exactly what Blazewing was demanding.

But no matter how sneaky Mistfeather was, she couldn’t escape Blazewing’s radar-like senses.

Blazewing was livid, exploding with rage!

She dove, pinning Mistfeather to the floor, ranting, “You little sneak! Stealing it! Spit it out!”

Blazewing’s tiny wings yanked at Mistfeather’s beak, who wailed, “Waaah, I’m sorry, Sis, let me go!”

“No way! You hogged it! That’s my reward!”

“But I didn’t hog it! Aphrosia gave it to me first… ouch, stop, Sis!”

“Then I definitely won’t let go! You’re in cahoots with that blonde crook! You’re done for!”

Blazewing started plucking Mistfeather’s feathers. Tears welled in Mistfeather’s aggrieved eyes, but soon, something changed. Mistfeather’s body grew, wings morphing into arms, claws into chubby legs.

Now, the tables turned. A white-haired loli with blue-tipped locks effortlessly lifted Blazewing.

“What’d you say, Sis?” Mistfeather’s voice remained soft and sweet.

“You?! Mistfeather, I’m your sister! Put me down!”

“But you didn’t spare me for being your sister~”

“Hey, family doesn’t hold grudges! I raised you, found your food when you were a chick! Mistfeather, don’t be ungrateful!” Blazewing, no match for her transformed sister, played the emotional card.

Aphrosia watched the Cloudbird sisters with interest, a hint of envy flickering in her eyes.

“Family, huh,” she murmured.

The sisters didn’t stop. Mistfeather, using her size advantage, counted the feathers Blazewing had plucked from her and methodically returned the favor…

“Ow! Stinking Mistfeather! Just wait, I’ll get you!”

“Still talking back, Sis? Looks like you haven’t learned your lesson! Punishment continues!”

“Ugh—say something, Aphrosia!”

“You wanted the Genesis Fruit?”

Blazewing’s shrill voice snapped Aphrosia back from her thoughts. She blinked, looking at the red fluffball struggling in Mistfeather’s grip. Her innocent facade melted into a sly, matter-of-fact grin.

“Oh, that. I keep my word. Didn’t I give it to Mistfeather? She ate it for you—same effect, right? Look how lively she is!”

“Same effect, my beak!” Blazewing thrashed in Mistfeather’s hand, tail feathers flaring, faint sparks flickering.

“That’s mine! My reward! My fruit! You cheating blonde! And you, stinking Mistfeather! Let me go! I’ll pluck you bald and make a feather duster!”

Blazewing’s screeches nearly shook the roof, her wings flailing against Mistfeather’s arm, but the new loli’s strength was unyielding.

“Sis is so loud,” Mistfeather said, wrinkling her cute nose. Mimicking Blazewing, she pinched a vibrant tail feather.

“Keep yelling, and I’ll pluck your prettiest feather~”

“Wah—!”

Blazewing froze, tears welling in her red eyes, trembling with rage and grievance. She glared at Aphrosia, as if trying to burn holes through her.

Aphrosia couldn’t hold it in, bursting into laughter. She leaned back lazily, fingers brushing the ornate ring on her left hand, the envy in her blue eyes replaced by pure amusement.
