Chapter 57: Xiran vs. “Angel”

Within the sacred pillar of light that pierced heaven and earth, a colossal being resembling an “angel” slowly descended.
Its body, composed of a constantly wriggling and contracting white mass, revealed no holiness under the golden light, but instead a subtle eeriness and profanity.
Countless eyeballs of varying sizes opened and closed erratically on its surface, casting a cold, indifferent gaze upon every living thing within the ruins.
The holy and cold chanting seemed to resound directly at the soul level, carrying with it a strange power that distorted consciousness and alienated the mind.
Yin Qingle’s face had already turned as pale as paper, her body trembling uncontrollably.
She clutched her sister’s arm tightly, as if it were her only hope in a world about to collapse.
Chen Dongyang’s muscles were also tense, cold sweat dripping from his forehead.
He stared intently at the monster in the sky, his heart pounding so hard in his chest that it threatened to explode.
In this suffocating, oppressive atmosphere, the madman, whom everyone subconsciously ignored, seemed completely oblivious to the danger.
Zhao Haoyu tilted his head back and opened his arms, his face filled with a frenzied yet intoxicated expression, as if welcoming his supreme deity.
“Come on, come on.”
He murmured to himself in a dreamy voice, his eyes unable to accommodate anything except the beam of light.
Yin Xiran looked at his pathetic and ridiculous appearance, her eyes suddenly cold.
She raised her right hand and gently hooked her finger in Zhao Haoyu’s direction.
The next second, Zhao Haoyu’s arm that was holding the strange puppet suddenly stiffened, and then an irresistible force burst out, and the dancing puppet broke away from his control, drew a small parabola, and fell to the ground in front of Yin Xiran.
“Ah!
No!
Don’t!”
Almost the moment the puppet slipped from his hand, Zhao Haoyu’s frantic expression froze, replaced by an intense panic and despair.
As if all his strength and soul had been drained from him, he let out a short, shrill cry and slid limply off the worn swivel chair, collapsing awkwardly onto the dusty ground.
He stretched out his hand and scratched in the direction of Yin Xiran in vain, making a broken roar of “Ho… ho…” from his throat, looking as miserable as a wild dog whose bones were taken away.
“It’s useless.”
Jiang Yuxin didn’t even glance at Zhao Haoyu, who was struggling miserably on the ground.
Her eyes were fixed on the white monster that was slowly descending in the sky.
She said to Yin Xiran calmly, “Do you think he’s using that thing to control the ‘angel’?
You’re wrong.
Quite the contrary, it’s the ‘angel’ who’s using that thing to control him.
So, even if you destroy that thing, it’s meaningless.
Now that this monster has appeared, the only option is to repel it or kill it.”
Upon hearing this, Yin Xiran slowly retracted her original intention of crushing the doll.
She turned her head and snorted coldly at Jiang Yuxin’s calm profile.
“Really?”
She made a sound of obvious displeasure.
“In that case…”
“Why not just destroy this disgusting soft-bodied creature along with it?”
Before she even finished her words, without giving anyone time to react, she rose from the ground in a posture that went against common sense of physics.
Her body seemed to have turned into an arrow shot from a bow, and she rushed out to meet the slowly descending angel.
Jiang Yuxin’s cold gaze instantly locked onto Yin Xiran.
She saw clearly that the moment Yin Xiran jumped up, the air density in the area under her feet was instantly increased to an extremely terrifying level, forming a short and powerful upward thrust.
This thrust brought her closer to the monster in an instant.
“Exquisite control,” Jiang Yuxin calmly commented.
“This girl’s understanding and application of her own abilities is far superior to her sister’s, who only knows how to unleash destructive energy.”
In a flash, Yin Xiran appeared not far from the side of the “angel’s” massive body, hovering steadily in mid-air.
She extended a slender finger and gently tapped the wriggling mass of white flesh.
Without warning, the space in that area suddenly warped.
The broken steel bars, concrete fragments, and metal instrument debris that formed the observatory’s dome were simultaneously torn from their original positions by an invisible force.
They were instantly disintegrated and reconstructed in mid-air, transforming into hundreds of sharp spikes several meters long, gleaming with a cold metallic light.
“Go.”
Yin Xiran uttered a word.
Hundreds of sharp spikes made a sharp sound of breaking through the air, and from all directions, they pierced the ugly body of the “angel” like the most intense rainstorm.
However, a shocking scene occurred.
Those metal spikes that were strong enough to easily penetrate a tank, when they touched the “angel’s” body, seemed to pierce into some kind of illusory phantom and passed through without any hindrance.
The huge body of the “angel” did not seem to have even the slightest damage.
“Physical attacks are ineffective?”
Chen Dongyang exclaimed in shock.
Yin Qingle was so frightened that she covered her mouth, afraid that the noise she made would disturb her sister.
Yin Xiran hung in mid-air, her brows furrowed tightly.
Obviously, this result was beyond her expectations.
On the ground, Jiang Yuxin’s mouth curled up into a faint sneer.
‘So, how should you cope with it?’
At the moment Yin Xiran lost consciousness, the angel’s eyeballs of varying sizes simultaneously turned towards her.
The holy yet cold chanting voice suddenly rose several pitches, transforming into an invisible spiritual shock that swept towards Yin Xiran’s consciousness like a tide.
Yin Xiran’s body trembled violently in mid-air, a look of pain flashing across her face.
She subconsciously raised her hand to cover her forehead.
Obviously, even she couldn’t be completely immune to this kind of attack that directly affected the mental level.
“Xiran!”
Yin Qingle couldn’t hold it in any longer and cried out in surprise.
Chen Dongyang’s heart tightened and he subconsciously took a half step forward, but he didn’t know what else to do and could only watch anxiously.
“It’s so noisy.”
Yin Xiran gritted her teeth and waved her hand, using air molecules to create a sound-absorbing barrier, isolating all sound.
After doing this, the tingling sensation in her brain weakened considerably.
While not completely immune, it at least no longer affected her combat.
She was suspended in mid-air, rubbing her swollen temples.
The pain on her face caused by the sneak attack quickly faded away, replaced by a coldness that came from anger.
“So that’s it.
It’s a sonic attack…
No, it should be said to be a higher-level attack method that uses vibrations of a specific frequency to directly interfere with the mind?”
Yin Xiran analyzed calmly.
