Chapter 6: Even If I Must Give It My All, I Will Reach Your Side (Transformation)
“Tch.”
The black-robed priest spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva and wiped the blood from the corner of his lips.
The eyes hidden beneath his hood were now so dark they seemed capable of dripping poison.
He was a dignified black-robed priest of the Holy Church.
Even under the relentless hunts of the Holy Church State, he had always managed to retreat unharmed.
Yet today, he had actually been toyed with like a monkey by a magicless “Null Mage”!
“I’m going to chew every bone in your body apart inch by inch!”
The black-robed priest let out a shrill roar.
The rolling purple-black poisonous fog behind him suddenly seemed to come alive, crazily collapsing and condensing inward.
Accompanied by terrifying cracking sounds of bones, a gigantic demonic wolf over three meters long leapt out from the fog.
Its body was surrounded by an aura of decay and rot.
“Tear him apart!”
The demonic wolf violently pushed off with its hind legs and shot toward Luo Lin like a bolt of black lightning.
At this moment, Luo Lin was still carrying the two-hundred-pound Niu Zi while sprinting through the thorn-covered forest.
The crazy surge of adrenaline temporarily numbed the pain in his muscles.
His lungs wheezed like a broken bellows, every breath carrying a thick taste of blood.
“Almost there, almost there! As long as I get out of this forest…”
Luo Lin gritted his teeth while desperately encouraging himself internally.
However, the roar of the beast suddenly approached the back of his head like the scythe of death!
A foul wind rushed toward him.
Before Luo Lin could even turn around, he felt as if a siege hammer had smashed violently into his back!
Bang!
The terrifying impact directly sent both Luo Lin and the Niu Zi on his shoulder flying into the air.
Luo Lin uncontrollably tumbled through the air before smashing heavily into the trunk of a thick ancient tree, then bouncing violently onto the ground.
“Pwah—!”
Luo Lin spat out a huge mouthful of blood.
He felt as though every bone in his body had shattered apart in that instant.
Before he could even catch his breath, an enormous shadow already loomed over him.
The demonic wolf’s steel-like claws viciously pinned Luo Lin’s thigh to the ground.
The sharp claw tips pierced through his clothes and deeply into his flesh.
“AAAAHHHH!!!”
Luo Lin let out a miserable scream.
The demonic wolf did not immediately bite through his throat.
Instead, with extreme cruelty, it lowered its head and bit down on Luo Lin’s shoulder before violently flinging him away!
Fabric tore apart.
Blood and flesh scattered.
Like a ragdoll, Luo Lin was hurled several meters away, carving a glaring trail of blood across the mud covered with dead leaves.
The black-robed priest stepped on broken branches as he slowly emerged from the poisonous fog.
The sound of his leather boots striking the ground now resembled the ticking pendulum of Luo Lin’s death countdown.
“Weren’t you smart?”
The black-robed priest walked before Luo Lin and grabbed his mangled neck, lifting him completely off the ground with one hand.
“Run! Keep running! Where’s that backbone you had earlier?!”
The intense suffocation turned Luo Lin’s face purple-red.
His hands weakly slapped against the priest’s iron-clamp-like arm.
Blood flowed down from his forehead into his eyes, turning the world before him into a miserable crimson blur.
‘Looks like… this time I really have to reload from a save point.’
Luo Lin’s brain began suffering from oxygen deprivation.
His consciousness gradually blurred.
‘Just a few days after reincarnating and I’m already getting killed. My luck really is unbelievable.’
‘Still… at least I got to enjoy a few days of top-tier noble life. Not a loss…’
He bitterly mocked himself in his heart.
Watching Luo Lin’s increasingly unfocused pupils, the black-robed priest’s expression became even more savage.
“Originally, I only wanted your life.”
“But now, I’ve changed my mind. I’m going to make you suffer worse than death!”
As he spoke, he pinched that foul-smelling black secret medicine between his fingers and forcibly shoved it toward Luo Lin’s mouth.
“I’ll make you swallow this pill like a dog, then return and personally pour deadly poison into that lofty princess’s teacup!”
The moment those words sounded—
Luo Lin’s cloudy pupils, which had already accepted death, suddenly shrank into pinpoints.
Actually poison Alice?
Within Luo Lin’s gradually darkening vision, scenes suddenly flashed by like a movie reel.
A girl with cherry-pink long hair.
Every time Luo Lin caused disasters and was despised and blamed by everyone, she always stood before him like a protective little guardian.
That girl who always wore a cold expression and acted stubborn and tsundere—
Yet whenever she turned around, she would reveal a smile as bright and warm as peach blossoms in April.
No matter how foolish and worthless Luo Lin might have been, she was someone he had never once truly wanted to hurt.
His best childhood friend.
“You want me… to hurt her?”
“Go f*ck yourself!!! The people I hate most are the ungrateful ones!”
An unknown power suddenly exploded from Luo Lin’s dying body!
He violently clenched his teeth shut while crazily struggling with his body.
Gathering the very last of his strength, he spat a bloody mouthful of saliva directly into the black-robed priest’s face!
“You’re courting death!”
The black-robed priest completely erupted with fury.
His right hand suddenly tightened, preparing to crush Luo Lin’s neck instantly.
However, just as that hand was about to close—
A cold sensation landed on the back of the black-robed priest’s hand.
Then a second.
A third.
The sudden change caused the black-robed priest to freeze momentarily.
He subconsciously raised his head.
“Why… is it snowing?”
Within this forest that had originally been filled with purple-black poisonous fog, heavy snowflakes now began drifting down.
Pure white and immaculate snow spiraled gently through the air.
It landed upon the black-robed priest’s dark robe.
Upon the demonic wolf’s savage fangs.
And upon Luo Lin’s blood-covered face.
At this moment, dozens of miles away in the capital of the Holy Church State—
Alice stood quietly before the enormous floor-to-ceiling windows inside her palace bedroom.
She wore a simple moon-white nightgown while holding a steaming cup of hot cocoa.
Outside the window, the Holy Church State, which should have remained warm like spring all year round, was now covered in falling snow.
Alice slightly furrowed her delicate brows.
A trace of confusion flashed within her clear pale sakura-colored eyes.
At the center of her desk sat a childhood photograph of herself and Luo Lin.
At the same time, atop the branch of a towering ancient tree near the edge of Mist Forest—
A petite girl wearing a black cloak stood against the wind.
Her platinum-blonde hair danced wildly amidst the suddenly raging snowstorm.
Her beautiful phoenix-shaped eyes narrowed slightly as she stared toward the direction of the magical disturbances deep within the forest.
“How could such abnormal blizzards appear within the territory of the Holy Church State?”
Lucia sharply sensed the ice-element magic power spreading through the sky.
“Could it be those black-robed priests who escaped from me a few days ago causing trouble again? No, I need to hurry over and take a look.”
Before her words even finished, silver-blue ripples spread beneath her feet.
Her figure instantly vanished from the spot.
Back within the depths of Mist Forest—
The black-robed priest’s hand gripping Luo Lin’s neck began trembling uncontrollably.
Too cold.
This wasn’t the ordinary cold of winter weather.
This was an absolute zero capable of freezing the soul itself, slowing even the flow of magic within one’s body to a complete halt!
The enormous demonic wolf let out a whimper.
As though sensing something horrifying, it tucked its tail in fear and continuously retreated backward.
“Y-you… what kind of monster are you?!”
The black-robed priest stared at Luo Lin in terror.
No.
Luo Lin was no longer in his hand.
Within a terrifying blizzard that suddenly swept through a ten-meter radius, that blood-covered useless young master had actually dissolved into a mist of ice-blue light right before his eyes!
The snowstorm violently contracted toward the center, collapsing and gathering together once more.
The next second—
Within countless swirling ice crystals and snowflakes, a pair of crystalline ice-blue eyes slowly opened from the center of the storm.
Those eyes carried the extreme nobility and distant indifference belonging only to one who stood above others.
Beneath the endless falling snow, a petite and graceful figure descended silently into the world.
She was so beautiful that she resembled an ice-and-snow spirit itself, stepping gently upon crystallized frost.
