Chapter 6: Socially Dead?

A Mortifying Mix-Up

Xiaoxi burst into the room.

Xiaoke was staring at an open document, cheeks flushed, eyes wide with shock.

It’s over—Xiaoxi squeezed her eyes shut, unsure how to explain to Xiaoke.

“Ke, listen, I didn’t mean to hide it. This identity…”

“Pervert! Shameless! Degenerate! Anime nerd!”

A pillow flew at Xiaoxi, cutting her off and stunning her.

Xiaoke’s reaction wasn’t what she’d expected.

Opening her eyes, Xiaoxi saw the document’s contents.

It wasn’t her old magical girl event plans.

It was the opening of the spicy magical girl defeat fanfiction she’d just written!

“I thought you’d finally become a reliable adult, but you’re secretly writing this? Pervert, pervert, pervert!”

As another pillow sailed toward her, Xiaoxi lunged to cover Xiaoke’s mouth.

‘Sis, please don’t yell! There’s someone else in the house! Don’t broadcast that your brother… sister writes spicy fanfic!’

“No, Ke, I’m not into this stuff! I’m just trying to make money…”

“Pervert! I don’t wanna hear it! You even used Senior Nightingale Diva as a model? Ultimate pervert!”

“Magical girl? What magical girl?” Ye Xinglan perked up like a bot catching a keyword, leaning in curiously.

Xiaoxi tried to block Ye Xinglan from her computer.

But she was busy dodging Xiaoke’s fierce elbow strikes, leaving no hands free to stop Ye Xinglan.

Her sister had always been like this—quick to get physical, not a hint of ladylike grace.

A Humiliating Review

As they wrestled, Ye Xinglan read the entire document, letting out “Oh~” and “Tch~” sounds.

No! Xiaoxi’s cheeks burned.

She felt like she’d died socially.

“Xiaoxi, you wrote this?” Ye Xinglan turned to her.

“Xinglan Sis, look!” Xiaoke, now using a chummier nickname, pointed accusingly.

“My sister’s writing this trash! It’s too much…”

“It’s amazing!”

Ye Xinglan’s eyes sparkled, giving Xiaoxi, still pinned and elbowed by Xiaoke, a big thumbs-up.

Xiaoke: “?”

What the—? So they’re in cahoots?

No wonder they got along!

“It’s really well done! This is exactly how magical girls should be treated, heh heh heh…”

Don’t laugh like a villain… Xiaoxi groaned inwardly.

Just how much do you hate magical girls?

“What’s so great about it?” Xiaoke pouted.

“Besides, how could an S-rank magical girl like Mu Xingge lose to some weak tentacle monster? Sis, you pervert…”

Actually, it’s pretty realistic—Ye Xinglan thought but kept silent.

Reading it again, she realized not only was the character based on Mu Xingge, but the story matched a real event.

Mu Xingge had indeed been ambushed by a tentacle monster modified by the Divine Summoning Society.

The details aligned eerily with Xiaoxi’s story.

As the Society’s former secret weapon, Ye Xinglan knew the incident well.

Normal people wouldn’t think much of the story, though.

Too bad Eternal Star swooped in to save Mu Xingge back then.

Otherwise, it might’ve played out like Xiaoxi’s fic.

But… how did Xiaoxi know about this?

Only the magical girls present and the Society should’ve known.

A coincidence?

Ye Xinglan glanced at Xiaoxi, still being headlocked by Xiaoke.

It seemed like the logical explanation, but something felt off.

Whatever, the story was great!

Humiliating magical girls, watching them squirm—perfect!

A Dangerous Curiosity

“Got anything else, Xiaoxi? Like, maybe fanfic about Eternal Star? I’d love to see that.”

Ye Xinglan, ignoring Xiaoxi’s protests, started browsing the document list.

“Oh, here’s another file with ‘magical girl’ in the title…”

“No, you can’t look at that!”

Like she’d been shocked, Xiaoxi sprang up, rushing to block the screen before Ye Xinglan could open it.

Her speed startled Xiaoke.

Her sister was… that strong?

As a magical girl, Xiaoke knew her strength had grown, even untransformed, letting her overpower Xiaoxi earlier.

But Xiaoxi’s sudden burst had broken free?

Was it adrenaline from her dirty little secret nearly being exposed?

Xiaoke clicked her tongue, annoyed. “What, another shady fanfic?”

“It’s not! And even if it was, it’s private! Ever heard of privacy?”

“If you’re hiding it, you’re guilty!”

Xiaoke was convinced.

With Xiaoxi’s panic, what else could those “magical girl” files be but more spicy fanfic?

But Xiaoxi stood firm, refusing to let Ye Xinglan touch her computer.

She pushed both girls out of the room by their shoulders.

A Narrow Escape

Alone again, Xiaoxi sighed in relief.

She hurried to her computer, clicked the mouse, and broke into a cold sweat.

That was close.

Thankfully, her new fanfic files had pushed her older documents down the list.

Otherwise—

With a slight scroll, the title “Magical Girl Event Plan” popped up, dated three years ago.

That must’ve been what Ye Xinglan almost opened.

If her new files hadn’t buried it, Xiaoke would’ve seen that instead!

Had she not moved fast to stop Ye Xinglan, her Eternal Star identity would’ve been exposed right there.

So, she should be grateful only her fanfic was found?

No way—having her sister discover that was hardly better!

Her image as a big sister was crumbling!

Speaking of, when did Xiaoke get so strong?

Those elbows hurt like hell.

That brat could at least go easier on her dear sister.

Xiaoxi closed the document.

To be safe, she changed her computer’s password before shutting it down.
