Chapter 61: Yuehua’s Guidance and Flash’s Talent

The moment the Death Star appeared in Polaris’s hand, Jin Yan and Abyss instinctively stepped back, wary of its terrifying devouring power.
Flash, however, remained calm alongside Yuehua.

Unlike its ferocious, all-consuming state at its birth, the Death Star now seemed docile in Polaris’s grasp, merely a black orb with an accretion disk.

“Is this… a black hole?” Yuehua murmured, puzzled.

She lightly tapped the ground, silently activating an alchemical array.
A 1.5-meter-long staff materialized in her hand.

Yuehua extended the staff toward the tiny black star.
As expected, the moment it touched the Death Star, a tremendous gravitational force seized it.
If not for Yuehua’s exceptional physical talent, the staff would’ve been torn from her grip and swallowed whole.

With a slight effort, Yuehua pulled the staff free and examined the end that had contacted the Death Star.
It wasn’t cleanly severed—clear signs of disintegration marked the surface.

It really is a black hole, Yuehua concluded.

But how did it form?

Devouring deathly aura, the concept of ‘Death,’ a black hole, death…

Yuehua began to piece together her daughter’s situation.

Perhaps the glowing celestial bodies Polaris summoned could absorb other ‘concepts,’ transforming into miniature cosmic entities embodying those concepts.

This wasn’t just exceptional—it suggested Polaris’s ‘Star’ concept might have the highest growth potential among all.

But before Yuehua could guide Polaris on using her talent, Polaris’s legs buckled, and she collapsed, seemingly drained.

Yuehua wouldn’t stand by.
In the split second before Polaris’s knees hit the ground, she was at her side, supporting her waist and gently guiding her to the training field’s rest area.
The other magical girls followed.

“Polaris, how’s your body feeling?” Yuehua asked, settling Polaris onto a chair.
She recognized the symptoms of mana overexertion but was more concerned about other potential side effects.

Some Sublime-tier magical girls suffered backlash from overusing their authorities—Yuehua herself included.
It wasn’t impossible for lower-tier girls to experience similar issues.

“I’m fine… Teacher,” Polaris panted.

“I just feel… so weak and tired.”

Hearing ‘tired,’ Yuehua laid Polaris flat, resting her head on her lap.

Confirming no other symptoms, Yuehua sighed in relief inwardly.

“This is normal from overusing your talent and burning through mana too quickly,” she explained.

A potion with a straw appeared in her hand, which she offered to Polaris.
“Drink this. It’s a mana recovery potion. It’ll help.”

“Thanks, Teacher,” Polaris said, sipping the potion, its taste reminiscent of her mother’s homemade soup.
She listened as Yuehua guided her on her talent.

“Polaris,” Yuehua began, “your talent has immense potential.”

She paused, then continued, “But your ‘black hole’ consumes too much mana. It’s not always practical for beast extermination.”

“If you overexert and weaken, beasts could exploit that vulnerability.”

“What should I do, Teacher?” Polaris asked.

“For beasts at your tier, stick to conventional tactics,” Yuehua advised.

“Use ranged magic to wear them down, then finish with your companion weapon.”

“Your black hole should be a trump card.”

“That’s all for your guidance for now.”

Turning to Abyss, Yuehua said, “Now, let’s address your issue.”
Her hand absently stroked Polaris’s head.

“Yes, Teacher,” Abyss replied, glancing at Polaris, who seemed to enjoy the head pats.

“Your deathly aura is potent, but it’s less effective against higher-tier superhumans,” Yuehua said.

“And it spreads too slowly. Agile beasts can easily dodge it.”

“Can you control the aura to cling to your scythe?” she asked.

“Teacher, my control over the aura isn’t quite there yet,” Abyss admitted.

Yuehua nodded.
Rome wasn’t built in a day.
She didn’t expect Abyss, a newly awakened Tier-Seven magical girl, to master her powers instantly.

Practice took time.

“Keep practicing,” Yuehua said.

“Yes, Teacher,” Abyss replied.

Yuehua’s gaze shifted to Flash, the white-haired, red-eyed magical girl.
It was time to assess her abilities.

Lifting the now-recovered Polaris from her lap and sitting her upright, Yuehua approached Flash.

“Your turn to show your abilities, Little Flash,” she said.

“Yes, Teacher,” Flash replied, summoning her weapon—a platinum staff nearly her height, topped with a ruby.

“Do you know your concept?” Yuehua asked.

“Of course. It’s ‘Light,’” Flash answered.

Light? A natural concept with high potential, Yuehua thought.

“Then show me your ability,” she said, moving to the control panel.

The cage with the soulless rock lizard descended, replaced by a new model target.

“Go ahead,” Yuehua prompted.

Without hesitation, Flash channeled mana into the ruby atop her staff.
A blinding beam illuminated the training field, vaporizing the target’s head, leaving only a charred neck.

Yuehua nodded, satisfied.
Flash’s technique was solid, almost seasoned.

Why do I feel her experience seems so familiar?
Perhaps it was because she’d briefly mistaken Flash for Corona.

“Your talent is well-balanced and suited for standard beast extermination tactics,” Yuehua told Flash.

“Now, focus on expanding and exploring other applications of light.”

“Understood, Teacher,” Flash said, bowing.

Yuehua nodded, addressing all the magical girls:

“For the rest of the morning, practice on your own. I’ll guide you from the side.”

“But…” She glanced at Abyss, who stepped beside her at the cue.

“I’ll only teach in the morning.”

“Abyss will take over your basic magic training this afternoon and every weekend afternoon moving forward.”

“Got it?”

“Got it,” the magical girls replied.

“Then start practicing,” Yuehua said.

Several model targets rose from the floor, ready for the magical girls to unleash their powers.
