Chapter 63: Dressing as a women

Nestled in Zhou Ting’s arms, Lin Xiaoxiao froze at his question, her heart tangled with complex emotions.

What did she want?

She wasn’t sure herself. After her grandma’s surgery, she’d only wanted a simple, normal life—one she cherished deeply.

If she had to name something…

Glancing at him, she shook her head. “I don’t want anything. Besides, aren’t I being kept by you, big boss? What could I lack that money can’t buy?”

He blinked, then chuckled. “What if I go bankrupt one day and can’t afford to keep you?”

Though his tone was teasing, she thought seriously before answering firmly, “I’d kick you to the curb without hesitation.”

His forehead twitched with irritation, and he tapped her head. “Money-grubber, huh? Don’t worry, that day won’t come. You’ll stay my little pet.”

She rolled her eyes, pouting. “I’m not a pet…”

When she moved to clean the dishes, intending to change out of the humiliating catgirl outfit, he stopped her.

Left with no choice, she worked in the outfit. That night, Zhou Ting stayed, and she was, predictably, thoroughly “bullied”…

The next day, dragging her exhausted body, Lin Xiaoxiao’s first mission was to kick Zhou Ting out, then collapse back into bed. She felt like she’d die otherwise.

Isn’t it said there’s no plow that breaks, only cows that tire? Why’s it the opposite for me?

By afternoon, when she woke again, her body felt less out of sorts.

With classes looming, she couldn’t laze around. Before leaving, she glanced at her boyish outfit, hesitating.

After a long pause, she made up her mind, returning to her bedroom to swap for a beige long dress and light makeup.

Since she’d changed her ID, there was no point hiding anymore. Wearing women’s clothes was a hurdle she’d have to cross eventually.

Looking at the pretty girl in the mirror, she gave herself a pep talk and headed out.

The summer sun blazed, like the passionate dreams of youth, inspiring awe.

Entering the large classroom, she saw students already grabbing seats—mostly the back rows, since the overachievers wouldn’t arrive early.

Clutching her books, she took a deep breath and stepped inside.

The moment she did, the room hushed briefly before erupting into murmurs.

“Whoa, who’s that beauty looking for?”

“Definitely not a boyfriend, right?”

“Doesn’t she look familiar?”

“Familiar from your dreams, maybe. You’ve got no shot with her… Wait, she does look familiar…”

In the back row, her roommate Bai Hao spotted the stunning girl entering. True to his “share the wealth” code, he nudged his sleeping buddy. “Yo, Old Two, wake up! There’s a beauty!”

Huang Guan, groggy and annoyed, perked up at “beauty.” “Where?”

Bai Hao nodded toward the door. Huang Guan looked, and his heart raced.

The girl was like a fairy descended to earth, her beige dress accentuating her fair, flawless skin.

Light makeup highlighted her willow-like brows and ink-black, mesmerizing eyes.

And she was walking toward them. Who could resist that?

Bai Hao suddenly elbowed his dazed roommate. “Yo, Old Two, doesn’t she look like Xiaoxiao?”

Huang Guan squinted, incredulous. “Kinda… maybe Xiaoxiao’s sister? From today, Xiaoxiao’s my bro!”

Bai Hao’s face darkened, punching him. “No way, that’s Xiaoxiao’s older sister! Look at that mature vibe—definitely older than Xiaoxiao.”

“She’s got such innocent eyes—clearly a younger sister.”

As they bickered over sister or cousin, Lin Xiaoxiao reached them under the class’s gaze, puzzled. “Haozi, Old Two, what’re you doing?”

Her voice froze Bai Hao and Huang Guan, who stared in disbelief.

“That’s Xiaoxiao’s voice, right?” Bai Hao asked Huang Guan, hesitant.

Huang Guan adjusted his glasses, studying her, then exclaimed, “Xiaoxiao, you’re the best! Knowing our dorm’s all single, you cosplayed as a girl…”

Her face darkened, exasperated. “Get lost. Ever wonder why you can’t get girlfriends? Too creepy.”

“And I am* a girl. Is wearing a skirt that weird?”

Bai Hao gaped, pained. “Xiaoxiao, when did you go to Thailand? We should’ve stopped you from making such a rash choice…”

Huang Guan nodded in agreement.

Her mouth twitched. If they weren’t ogling her, she might’ve been touched.

Sighing, she launched into the same explanation she’d given Zhou Ting.

Bai Hao and Huang Guan listened, stunned. Their once-close roommate was a girl—and a beautiful one?

The revelation was hard to process.

But Bai Hao grinned slyly. “Xiaoxiao, we’re bros, right?”

She nodded hesitantly, only for him to lean in. “Bro, you smell so good…”

She facepalmed. Understanding their antics, she said seriously, “Stop hitting on me. I have a boyfriend.”

Using Zhou Ting as a shield should be fine, right? Though she was just his kept canary, their relationship was real…

Bai Hao and Huang Guan exchanged looks, then wailed in unison, their despair palpable.

News of Lin Xiaoxiao’s former cross-dressing spread quickly through the class and beyond.

After class, curious onlookers peeked into the classroom, drawn by the novel-like drama and her striking beauty.

Feeling the stares, Lin Xiaoxiao sighed inwardly, uncomfortable but prepared.

She’d expected this and stayed composed.
