Chapter 64: Sunshine, straw hat, miniskirt

Sunlight, straw hat, short skirt.

Rou Ye’s bare, fair legs drew plenty of eyes.

As she walked, her skirt swayed, teasing glimpses of the absolute territory beneath.

If you looked closely…

Hehe~

You’d see safety shorts.

“Yao~ This ice cream flavor’s no good. Here.”

Yao Bai sighed, taking the third ice cream Rou Ye handed her.

“If you don’t like the flavor, don’t buy it. Giving me your leftovers—am I your trash can?”

Yao Bai grumbled but ate the half-melted ice cream anyway.

Taro flavor—it was actually pretty good.

Rou Ye watched Yao Bai, knowing she didn’t dislike the flavor.

She was testing Yao Bai’s tolerance for her antics.

Seeing Yao Bai eat something she’d tasted filled Rou Ye with delight.

But then, she wondered if this was a bit wrong.

Her morals were quickly overtaken by greed.

She didn’t just want to keep doing this—she wanted to push further.

How could a hot summer day go without icy milk tea?

Rou Ye’s eyes locked onto a new milk tea shop nearby, holding an event.

She’d checked it out before leaving—perfect for her plans.

“Yao~ I want milk tea.”

“Sure.”

Yao Bai was puzzled. Rou Ye was unemployed, yet showed no anxiety.

Even a hint of sadness would be normal.

But Rou Ye’s face was all smiles, baffling Yao Bai.

As an unemployed person, shouldn’t she have some jobless stress?

Did Rou Ye get a severance package?

“Rou Ye, you’re unemployed. Why are you so happy?”

Yao Bai couldn’t help asking.

“Isn’t it because I have you?” Rou Ye replied naturally, as if it were obvious.

“…”

Yao Bai went silent. She got it—Rou Ye was mooching off her.

Supporting one person was fine; two more wasn’t impossible.

If Rou Ye needed her help, Xiaoxiao would too.

Thirty million, four people—as long as Yao Bai didn’t start a business, it’d be fine.

At the milk tea shop, the opening event made Yao Bai uneasy.

“Welcome! What can I get for you?”

“Two taro boba teas.”

“That’ll be thirty-two.”

“Isn’t your event second cup free?”

Rou Ye’s question stumped the cashier. It was a couples’ event.

“Yes, second cup free for couples. Are you… a couple?”

The cashier pointed at Rou Ye and Yao Bai, unsure.

“Of course. Can’t you tell?”

Rou Ye pulled Yao Bai into her arms, earning an epic eye-roll.

Their vibe didn’t scream couple, making the cashier skeptical.

“Same-sex doesn’t count?”

“Well… it’s not that it doesn’t count. Prove it—like a kiss.”

The cashier’s request made Yao Bai’s heart sink. She tried to bolt, but Rou Ye held her tight.

“If you dare kiss me, I’ll…”

Rou Ye silenced her with a kiss, gently biting her lower lip.

“Yao~ Be good~ Second cup free~”

“…”

Yao Bai clenched her teeth, fuming. No one could resist free stuff.

“Is that enough?”

“Oh, yes, yes!”

The cashier snapped out of it, hurrying to make the drinks.

Minutes later, two icy milk teas were handed to Rou Ye.

“All yours~ Your favorite~”

Yao Bai took them, her emotions mixed.

Say Rou Ye was bad? She knew Yao Bai’s favorite drink.

Say she was good? She loved bullying Yao Bai.

It was a love-hate thing.

“No kissing next time.”

Yao Bai sipped her tea, huffing. Rou Ye could tell she wasn’t really mad—just bothered by the kiss.

Her resistance was weakening, a good sign for Rou Ye.

Buzz!

A roar came from the sky, where figures darted in pursuit.

Looking up, four magical girls were chasing a mad scientist.

Yao Bai’s eyes lit up, itching to follow and watch.

But with Rou Ye here, how could she slip away without raising suspicion?

Staring at her milk tea, she got an idea.

“Rou Ye, my stomach hurts. Wait here—I’m hitting the restroom.”

Yao Bai handed over the tea and dashed to a nearby public toilet.

Watching Yao Bai run, her long hair fluttering, Rou Ye smiled.

Stomachache? What a lame excuse.

Mad scientists—people without magic factors, chasing power through experiments.

They’d modify genes, fuse beast limbs, or wear mechanical armor—anything for strength, often at the cost of their lives.

The power gained often warped their minds, leading to irrational acts.

The mad scientist, chased by four magical girls, held a small bottle containing a pollutant.

Surrounded, he felt immense pressure.

Glancing at the pollutant, his gaze hardened.

For power, he’d do anything!

In full view, the winged scientist crushed the bottle, swallowing the pollutant whole.

Its magic instantly corrupted him.

“Ah!!!”

He screamed in agony, plummeting from the sky.

“Kill him now!”

Jasmine, decisive, ordered the attack.

The four unleashed a combined assault on the writhing scientist, kicking up clouds of dust.

A twisted shadow swelled within, roaring deafeningly, dispersing the dust, and charging at Iris.

The scientist’s face was now covered in eyes, his wings stronger, hands morphed into beastly claws.

A claw struck Iris, smashing her into the ground.

Boom!

“Iris!” Pansy dove down.

“Pansy, behind you!”

Jasmine charged with her lance, but she was too far and too slow.

Pansy turned, the scientist’s eye-covered face looming close.

The next second, she too was slammed to the ground.
