Chapter 7: Arrival

Bai Ci awkwardly sliced her steak.

She’d never eaten Western food growing up—only seen it on TV.

Actually doing it was way harder than it looked.

The train for A-grade students was luxurious, with dedicated chefs and maids.

Bai Ci was pretty satisfied with this ride.

At least she could enjoy good food and nap comfortably in a plush seat.

Lu Mingfei, being S-grade, probably had an even fancier train—maybe the whole thing to himself, living it up.

Probably better than a high-speed rail’s business class.

It was 2008, though—high-speed rail wasn’t common yet.

She’d never ridden business class before coming to this world, but it felt similar.

The soft seats made her drowsy, and she was already half-asleep.

She wore the outfit Nono bought her—the only decent one she owned.

Before leaving, she’d ironed it to perfection.

First day at Cassel College, she had to look presentable, not like some broke nobody.

Bai Ci stuffed the last piece of steak in her mouth and wiped her lips.

She’d heard rich people left food on their plates to show “refinement,” eating something else later to fill up.

Why?

It felt so fake.

Why not finish what you paid for?

Who’s the leftover for—street dogs?

“Would you like something to drink?” a waiter asked with a smile, his tone polite and soft.

Bai Ci didn’t like people like this—too deferential, probably hiding a different face.

Still, she smiled back politely. “A Coke, with ice, thanks.”

What’s better than a Coke?

Well… maybe Pepsi.

Her bad—should’ve asked for Pepsi.

“Just a moment, miss.”

The waiter left.

To stay awake for her Coke, Bai Ci held off on sleeping.

She closed her eyes to rest, but a coughing sound made her snap them open.

It was faint but clear, oddly piercing.

Was this the [Yanling] Senior Sister Chen Motong mentioned?

What was her own Yanling like?

After hearing a bunch about dragons and sipping her Coke, she dozed off.

Dragons?

She was more familiar with long, slithery ones than big lizards…

“We’ve arrived.”

The voice was cold, almost like a mutter, but it felt directed at her.

Bai Ci looked up at a stunningly beautiful girl—not tall, with icy pale skin and nearly white blonde hair braided into a bun.

Her long neck and plain demeanor made her seem like an ice sculpture.

She looked thirteen or fourteen but lacked the liveliness of that age, her face so calm that nothing seemed to stir her.

Bai Ci sensed she was a girl with a story, someone who’d been through a lot.

She stared a bit longer, then looked away, slowly following the other A-grade hybrids off the train.

That girl… she had this [looks like a kid but feels wiser than most] vibe.

But Bai Ci brushed it off.

No way—probably just an eighteen-year-old like her, just slow to develop.

Her luggage was apparently taken to her dorm by staff.

She wondered who her roommate would be… hopefully someone easy to get along with.

Two hours of getting lost later, she finally found her dorm.

Why the hell were the paths so complicated?

It was a double room with a private bathroom and desks.

The bedding was fresh, so clean it seemed just changed.

The decor was simple but elegant, the two beds taking up half the space, like some high-end hotel.

Her roommate glanced at her, shut off her computer, grabbed a book from the shelf by the window, and started reading on her bed.

What a coincidence…

But if she didn’t want to talk, Bai Ci wouldn’t push.

She sat on her own bed, surprised by how insanely comfortable it was.

Cassel College spared no expense on students—even standard dorms had the softest mattresses, like sleeping on a cloud.

After a short nap, Bai Ci opened her laptop.

A notification caught her eye, and she clicked it—“The Emperor of Hybrids! The Only S-Grade! Lu Mingfei to Arrive at Cassel College Soon!”

The title was over-the-top, with three exclamation points and even “Emperor.”

The photo was clearly a sneak shot—Lu Mingfei, captured at an odd angle.

Whoever took it was skilled, snapping an S-grade so close without getting caught.

And whoever posted it with that sensational title was an asshole.

The photo gave Lu Mingfei a peculiar, melancholic air, like the vibe Bai Ci had only seen at the internet café’s entrance—that stray husky after the café owner beat it.

No S-grade aura at all… more like he wasn’t even B-grade.

According to Chen Motong, her boyfriend was named Caesar—like the emperor.

Two emperors in one school?

That’d be interesting.

What would Lu Mingfei be like after his bloodline awakened?

Would he shoot to the top, become unstoppable, rule Cassel, make everyone bow to his S-grade might, and have girls fawning over him daily?

Bai Ci bit her lip, closed the forum, hesitated, then reopened it.

With his personality? No way.

But her mind wandered.

If some reckless idiot ignored school rules and challenged Lu Mingfei’s S-grade authority, what could he do besides curl up and beg them not to hit his face?

Better check something else…

The next post was about Free Day, analyzing Chu Zihang and Caesar’s abilities and strategies, with their photos.

Compared to Lu Mingfei… they looked more like S-grades, at least in appearance and vibe.
