Chapter 93: Hit by an Arrow

“Watch out!”

Carter shouted instantly, raising his shield to block a flurry of attacks, but several arrows slipped past him, hurtling toward us.
“Ugh—”

In a flash, a sharp impact hit my right shoulder, followed by searing pain.
A long arrow pierced through my leather armor, its head sinking deep into my shoulder.

Nearby, Daniel took two arrows by surprise, but his sturdy armor deflected them.
With a quick snap, he broke the arrows lodged in his gear.
I wasn’t so lucky.

The intense pain jolted my brain, and I gritted my teeth.
Oddly, the agony seemed to counteract the poison’s numbing effect, restoring a sliver of strength to my limp body.

“Mengmeng! D*mn it, Mengmeng’s hit!”
“One minute—treat her, then we’re out of here!”

Katherine cursed at the sight of the arrow in my shoulder, shouting loudly.
Carter roared in response, and except for Katherine by my side, Nico, Daniel, and Emil turned to engage the dark elves charging us, fighting fiercely.

Wait, treat it? How?
They’re not going to pull the arrow out, are they?!

I thought in a panic.
“Mengmeng, hold on! I’ll fix you up!”
“Wait, hold on—”

I was dazed, but before I could ask what Katherine planned to do, she grabbed the arrow in my shoulder and yanked it out!
“Argh!!”

The arrow tore out, taking some flesh with it.
The pain made my body twitch, and despite bracing myself, I let out a scream.

Blood gushed instantly, but Katherine slapped a thick layer of ointment onto the wound.
A powerful force staunched the bleeding temporarily, and the ointment numbed the surrounding muscles and nerves.

After the initial agony, the bleeding stopped for a few dozen seconds, and the pain gradually dulled.
But in that brief minute, I was drenched in cold sweat—the pain was almost too much.

My willpower wasn’t what it used to be.
The moment the arrow was pulled, I nearly passed out.
Normally, you’d cut the shaft and remove the arrowhead later, but Katherine just ripped it out and used medicine without hesitation.

On second thought, her choice made sense.
I was poisoned and immobile, and carrying me with the arrow still in would risk tearing the wound further.
Better to deal with it now.

“Phew… phew…”
After Katherine’s swift, practiced treatment, the pain had restored some strength, but I still couldn’t stand.
My right shoulder and arm were useless, and the backpack’s weight would only aggravate the wound.

Seeing I refused to ditch the backpack, Katherine cleverly tucked bandages under its straps to press against the wound, aiding the ointment’s healing and staunching the blood.
Bandaging the shoulder properly in such a short time was tough, so she opted for a rough but effective method, then hoisted me onto her back.

“Keep your left hand on the wound to stop the bleeding! Captain! Mengmeng’s wound is handled!”
Katherine instructed me, then shouted to Carter.
The shield warrior instantly fell back several steps, clearly ready to retreat.

“Let’s go!”
Carter yelled—but at that moment, a gust of wind swept toward us!

“Leave? Hahaha! You’re perfect sacrifices for the supreme Blood God! And you think you can escape!?”
A chilling, maniacal laugh rang out.
A sneering dark elf leapt from above, slamming a massive blade onto Carter’s shield, forcing the warrior back several meters!
