Chapter 51: Weird Campus 20 Fever
Shen Musi frowned slightly, panic flickering in her eyes. She gently nudged Xu Nian, slumped on the desk, but got no response.
“Xu Nian!”
She shook her more urgently—still nothing.
Her playfulness vanished, replaced by full-blown worry.
Cradling Xu Nian against her, Shen Musi pressed a palm to her burning forehead. Xu Nian’s eyes were shut, lips pale, her feverish heat seeping through her clothes.
The scorching temperature tightened Shen Musi’s brow. Her mind raced through their recent days, landing on the sports storage room.
That day, a cool breeze had blown through. Had Xu Nian caught a chill?
Regret hit her—she shouldn’t have pushed things so far.
The scar-faced teacher’s sharp gaze swept over. Shen Musi met it calmly, unafraid.
He looked away, and the other players bowed their heads.
“Hand in your homework.”
His cold words jolted everyone except Xu Nian and Shen Musi.
They’d forgotten about homework.
The teacher’s lips curled into a chilling smirk as he descended, approaching the group. The players’ hearts trembled.
Stopping at Yuan Shen and Qi Dong, his eagle-like eyes bored into them.
Yuan Shen handed over his homework, earning a resentful glare from Qi Dong, who stomped his foot under the desk for not sharing.
The teacher, unsatisfied, stared at Qi Dong. “Why didn’t you do it?”
Trembling, she mimicked Xu Nian, standing on her chair. “S-sorry, teacher, I didn’t know how…”
His gaze pierced her, nearly breaking her, before shifting to another.
Qi Dong exhaled, legs buckling as she crouched.
As the teacher neared, Qi Ye frantically scribbled numbers on a paper, finishing just as the teacher reached him and handing it over.
The teacher studied it for a long moment before moving to Ran Feng.
Ran Feng calmly submitted his.
The teacher approached Xu Nian, unconscious in Shen Musi’s arms.
He paused. Shen Musi handed over two papers. “Teacher, this is our homework.”
He noted their closeness, unsurprised. They’d been inseparable since his first class, now practically glued together.
He took the papers, his gaze lingering on Xu Nian.
Perfect for a question later.
On the podium, he began the lesson.
Halfway through, he announced, “Some students will solve problems now. Wrong answers will be punished.”
His eyes scanned the players, landing on Xu Nian.
Before he could speak, Shen Musi swapped places with her, sitting in Xu Nian’s seat. Blinking earnestly, she said, “Teacher, I’d like to answer.”
The others stared, incredulous. Volunteering?
“Given the function ( f(x) = e^x – ax – b ) (where ( a, b \in \mathbb{R} )), it is known that the minimum value of ( f(x) ) on ([0, 1]) is 0, and there exists ( c \in [0, 1] ) such that ( f(c) = 1 ). Find all possible values of ( a ) and ( b ).”
The players broke into cold sweats.
The question alone gave them headaches.
Shen Musi’s lips curved slightly. She gently settled Xu Nian to rest on the desk and stood to answer.
