Chapter 35: My future self is actually a girl?!

The compressed biscuit clattered to the ground.

Lu Qingqi stared straight at the white-haired blue-eyed girl before him, his throat clogged like with a scalding stone; it took half a day of effort to squeeze out a few broken syllables.

“You, you, you, …… you’re me?!”

“I’m the future you~”

The girl tilted her head, correcting him softly; the diamond patterns on her forehead shimmered with fine light under the sunset, her tone as casual as commenting on nice weather.

“Past me? Weren’t you supposed to stay put in the past—why run off to the future?”

The youth gaped, wanting to reply, but no complete syllable emerged.

His gaze roved like a malfunctioning scanner, sweeping over the girl’s fair cheeks, gliding past her softly contoured jawline and the graceful swell of her chest, then dropping to the snow-white locks draping at her waist.

Every detail screamed “female,” yet this bona fide woman claimed she was his future self.

White-haired blue-eyed girl = future him = future Lu Qingqi.

He was Lu Qingqi.

The white-haired blue-eyed girl was him.

He…… was a woman?

The logic chain exploded into fireworks in his brain; Lu Qingqi felt the world spin, the park’s fresh air suddenly thinning—he gripped the bench backrest behind him to barely keep from toppling, lips quivering as he finally forced out,

“No…… impossible……”

“What’s impossible about it?”

“[Gender Swap] was our first superpower; just a thought to switch genders freely—so why’re you so shocked? It’s not like you haven’t turned into a woman before.”

“But…… why am I a woman in the future?”

“Of course, just because I wanted to~”

His future “self” drawled, reaching up to tuck a strand of white hair behind her shoulder, half-explaining, half-teasing.

“Think about it—in our original vision, with this power, future me was destined to become a god among men.”

“And becoming a god among men transcends human limits—so would such a me care about gender?”

“Male or female, just a whim away~~”

With this explanation, Lu Qingqi calmed a fair bit.

True enough—once a god among men, who cared about gender?

Male and female were mere human societal constructs.

He’d transcended mortality, no longer bound by mortal concerns.

But gazing at this smiling “self” before him, Lu Qingqi still felt his worldview brutally upended, then stomped flat several times over.

“Then hurry and switch back—talk to me in male form.”

“Though this look’s easy on the eyes, knowing it’s future me just makes it awkward inside.”

At this, the white-haired blue-eyed girl—future Lu Qingqi—stiffened, instinctively patting her butt, then gave a sheepish laugh.

“Switch what? This is fine—suits me just right.”

“You know, once you’re a god among men, how can you let puny human gender norms tie you down.”

Lu Qingqi opened his mouth to retort, but hearing his future self’s words, he subconsciously agreed.

Indeed, how could a “god” be shackled by mortal gender views.

Having finally accepted that his future self was a god unbound by gender, he was about to ask about the years in between—when he was cut off before the words left.

“It’s getting late; time to head back.”

She glanced at the dimming sky, fished a few bills from her small bag, and handed them over.

“Here’s some cash first—grab a nearby hotel for the night; we’ll chat details tomorrow.”

“Why not just crash at your place?”

Hearing this, the white-haired blue-eyed girl stiffened again—especially thinking of that certain bad man at home—cold sweat instantly beading as she laughed it off evasively.

“This…… wouldn’t be right, would it? We’ve got so much time between us; what if you’re not used to it.”

“I highly recommend a hotel—super nice, all four-stars at minimum.”

“No biggie; I don’t mind—kinda curious what future parents look like.”

In the end, unable to withstand Lu Qingqi’s persistent wheedling, future Lu Qingqi led him toward home.

The two didn’t chat much along the way, passing through a small square planted with unidentified flowers, finally stopping before an apartment building that didn’t look particularly standout.

The exterior walls were clean off-white, just seven or eight stories tall; the windows plain and ordinary—nothing like the gilded splendor or high-tech flair Lu Qingqi imagined for a “god’s abode.”

“This?”

Lu Qingqi couldn’t help smacking his lips.

“Our home…… is here?”

“Where’s my standalone villa?”

“My luxury garage?”

“My smart butler system?”

“Don’t tell me future me went bankrupt? So broke we can only afford an apartment.”

The white-haired blue-eyed girl shot him an annoyed glare.

“What do you know—small has its charms; that’s what makes it feel like home.”

With that, she pulled a few bills from her wallet, stuffed them at him, and pointed to a supermarket a few hundred meters off.

“Go grab two iced red teas—the chilled kind.”

Lu Qingqi took the money, eyed the supermarket glowing with warm yellow lights, muttered “gods drink iced red tea,” but turned and jogged off anyway.

Here, the white-haired blue-eyed girl watched his receding back, letting out a long breath, hand patting her chest like self-encouragement.

She hurried into the apartment; the first-floor sensor light flicked on, warm glow spilling over the glossy tiles.

She’d just pushed open the door to home—the living room unlit, outlines faint in the dim external light.

Before she could even change shoes, her lower back suddenly tightened; her whole body was scooped up steadily in a waist-hug.

“Back?”

A low male voice sounded by her ear, carrying the damp steam of a fresh bath, tone indulgent.

“My little canary—the bath’s drawn, temperature just right; Master’ll take you to soak now~”

“Wait—put me down first.”

The man complied, loosening his hold, but didn’t step back; his warm palm hovered protectively at her waist, as if fearing she’d wobble.

In the external light, his figure stood tall and straight, damp tousled hair, collar loosely open to reveal collarbone contours—especially those deep purple eyes, strikingly captivating.

“What’s up? You’re home late today—didn’t you say park stroll?”

“Wait—why do you smell like another man?”

The man frowned.

“This neighborhood has other men besides me?”

“You snuck off to meet another guy behind my back?!”

In an instant, the light in those deep purple pupils turned dangerous; wisps of mist seeped from his body, the surrounding temperature dropping several degrees.

Oh crap!

Too focused on stringing along his past self, she’d nearly forgotten the walking time bomb beside her!

The white-haired blue-eyed girl broke out in a cold sweat.
