Chapter 3: Father, You’re Such a Cheapskate

“Has this water always been this heavy?”

Wang Yan sat weakly beside the large water barrel.

It used to be Tong Xingyao who carried it for him.

Every time, Wang Yan had seen her lift it with just one hand.

He had thought he could manage it too.

Sure enough, men in a female-dominant world were just too delicate.

He opened the system Shop and scrolled through it.

There were actually quite a few items that could enhance physical constitution.

But his current Emotion Points were zero.

To buy that big carp, he had spent everything.

Still, once Tong Xingyao came back, farming points should be easy, right?

Wang Yan had discovered that not everyone could generate Emotion Points for him.

Fortunately, there was Tong Xingyao.

As long as he kept her at home, he could farm from her every day.

“Why isn’t Xingyao back yet?”

Squatting beside the water barrel, Wang Yan couldn’t help but call her.

Beep.
Beep.
Beep.

Unexpectedly, the ringtone sounded from behind him.

Wang Yan turned around.

Tong Xingyao stood there, her expression cold.

“Wow, Xingyao, you’re finally back!”

Wang Yan happily walked over and gave her a hug.

“Today’s water is so heavy! Before, you could always lift it easily. But I tried just now, and it’s really heavy!”

Tong Xingyao said nothing.

With one hand, she gripped the handle and hoisted the barrel onto her shoulder.

“Wow, why have you never told me you’re this strong?”

“When you were being naughty before, I could grab you and pin you to the ground with one hand. I could even step on your face and you wouldn’t be able to struggle.”

Wang Yan frowned, hands on his hips, feeling that something was slightly off.

Just as he was about to say more, a black-haired girl suddenly came down from upstairs.

Wang Yan’s eyes lit up instantly.

Pei Zhanxi lived here too?

He had never seen her before.

They were clearly in the same university and even the same class.

“Classmate Pei Zhanxi, I’m over here!”

Wang Yan waved at her, stepping past Tong Xingyao.

Unexpectedly, the moment Pei Zhanxi heard him, she suddenly sprinted away.

Wang Yan: ?

Watching her fleeing figure, Wang Yan felt completely baffled.

What he did not see was Tong Xingyao’s faintly furrowed brow.

Before Wang Yan could think further, Tong Xingyao suddenly scooped him up.

“Wait—what are you doing? Put me down!”

Suspended midair, Wang Yan panicked.

Tong Xingyao had never done this before.

What was going on today?

Wang Yan began mentally reviewing everything he had done.

Meanwhile, Tong Xingyao slung him over her shoulder.

Her left shoulder pressed against his soft stomach to support him, while her arm tightly encircled his long legs.

To steady himself, Wang Yan had no choice but to grab onto her clothes from behind.

Damn it. I’m a man. How can I be carried like—

Wait.

This is a female-dominant world.

“Damn it, damn it! Naughty child, put me down! I can walk on my own!”

Wang Yan pounded her back with his small fists, but it did not stir her in the slightest.

At this hour, quite a few people had already finished dinner and come out for a stroll.

Tong Xingyao carried a man over one shoulder and a water barrel in the other hand.

As she climbed the stairs, she drew plenty of attention.

“I know, I know. I remember now. I’m sorry, I didn’t bring you lunch at noon.”

Wang Yan had been so happy today after getting the Yellow River carp that he had forgotten to deliver her meal.

“I’m really sorry. It’s my fault.”

Wang Yan apologized sincerely.

He was not the type to stubbornly refuse to admit mistakes.

Ever since he had picked Tong Xingyao up from the streets, he had been trying hard to play the role of a strict father.

Even though Tong Xingyao was actually one year older than him, Wang Yan always held himself to strict standards.

He was determined to raise her plump and well-fed.

He had always been nurturing her as a child bride.

Back then, Wang Yan had felt he could not fully integrate into this female-dominant world.

So he decided to cultivate his own future wife, following the rules of his previous life.

If he lived frugally, the money would be enough.

Moreover, thanks to his outstanding appearance, he had become an ASMR streamer online and gained many subscribers.

Especially that video where he used his feet for ASMR—it had already reached ten million views.

That gave Wang Yan sufficient funds to carry out his plan.

That had been the plan.

But reality had developed somewhat beyond his expectations.

Perhaps because Tong Xingyao was currently in a rebellious phase, his carefully designed upbringing plan had gone drastically off track.

“Xingyao, I really know I was wrong. So many people saw us on the way up. I’m so embarrassed. Please, put me down.”

Wang Yan decided that once Tong Xingyao set him down, he would properly educate her.

Tong Xingyao’s expression never changed.

She coldly continued climbing the stairs.

“Damn it. Not obedient. Bad child.”

Helpless, Wang Yan could only let himself be carried all the way to their door.

Finally, he was set down.

The moment his feet touched the ground, Wang Yan instantly regained his confidence.

“Hmph. I’ll forgive you this time. But you can’t do this again. Otherwise, I’ll punish you.”

He took out the key and opened the door.

Wang Yan sniffed.

Something smelled burnt.

“Oh no, my fish!”

He rushed to the stove and flipped it over.

It was a bit charred, but still salvageable.

Add some sugar and cooking wine.

“Woohoo, it’s ready! Xingyao, come eat!”

Wang Yan struggled to plate the entire fish and carried it to the table.

After waiting for a while and seeing no one come in, he felt puzzled.

Jumping down from the chair, his two legs pattered quickly toward the entrance.

Sure enough, Tong Xingyao was still standing outside, her expression cold.

Tong Xingyao looked at Wang Yan without emotion.

“Why aren’t you coming in? Hurry, hurry!”

No matter how Wang Yan tugged at her, she did not budge.

Based on his understanding of her, he realized it.

Tong Xingyao was angry.

She had always had a cold temperament, often wearing a frosty expression.

Her emotions rarely showed on her face.

You could only judge her mood from her actions.

Clearly, she was dissatisfied about something.

She rarely behaved like this.

If that was the case…

Wang Yan walked up to her, stood on tiptoe, and lightly pecked her on the cheek.

Then he tugged at her again.

She shifted slightly.

Seems it’s not enough.

Another kiss.

Finally, Wang Yan managed to pull her inside.

He dragged her a bit further, just enough to close the door.

Sweating heavily, Wang Yan wiped his forehead.

“I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. I definitely won’t forget next time. Today I made a really delicious big carp. You’ll absolutely love it. It’s the best delicacy under heaven—super fresh!”

Wang Yan hopped around as he enthusiastically introduced the fish’s description from the system Shop.

It even came with a recipe.

At that moment, Wang Yan keenly noticed Tong Xingyao’s lips move slightly.

“What are you saying? Speak louder. I can’t hear you.”

He leaned his ear close to her mouth, trying to listen more clearly.

Tong Xingyao: “Bite.”

Wang Yan: “Mm—!”

“What I said was, Father, you’re such a cheapskate.”

It seemed Tong Xingyao had just said something rather astonishing.
