Anna had no intention of competing with Shu Yue for attention anyway. She sat close beside her, yet maintained a very proper and upright posture.

Anna loved this appearance of hers and showed an unusually affectionate attitude.

She sighed inwardly and glanced at Anna.

“Sister Anna, are you nervous?”

Inside the manor’s main hall, Anna and Mundo were led aside to rest, leaving Shu Yue to head upstairs alone.

As the servant pushed open the ornate doors, Shu Yue entered the reception room and saw the people who had been waiting for some time. There were three men and one woman: two middle-aged men, one elderly man, and a young, beautiful chestnut-haired girl. The one in charge seemed to be the white-bearded elder in the middle. He looked Shu Yue up and down and spoke with a calm expression.

“Lia White, you’ve finally arrived.”

Shu Yue didn’t know what to say. She remained silent as she handed over the letter and token.

After the elder examined them and confirmed everything was in order, he officially verified Shu Yue’s identity. She secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

The elder smiled kindly and began the introductions.

“My own status is not worth mentioning. These two beside me are Viscount Herman and Baron Lester. This beautiful young lady is Baron Lester’s beloved daughter, Miss Emily Lester. She is also the fiancée that the Madam has arranged for you.”

Fiancée?! Fiancée?! Fiancée?!

Shu Yue’s mind exploded with shock. Her entire body went numb.

She stiffly turned her head to look at the chestnut-haired girl, Emily. Their eyes met directly. Shu Yue could feel the other party’s strong hostility, as if she had broken up a loving couple and was forcibly marrying her.

Emily had already pouted, letting out a cold snort full of resentment. If her father hadn’t been tightly gripping her wrist, she would have run out immediately without leaving her “fiancé” any face.

The elder’s expression grew more solemn as he spoke earnestly,

“This is the Madam’s decision. What are your thoughts?”

“I… have no objections.”

Shu Yue forcefully suppressed the chaos in her mind and expressed that she had none. She also had no right to refuse.

Seeing her agreement, the elder nodded in satisfaction, wearing an expression that said “this child can be taught.” He clearly hoped she would agree. If Shu Yue had stubbornly insisted on the original engagement with the eldest young miss…

Anna originally couldn’t read, but Shu Yue had taught her.

Anna’s eyes sparkled as she gazed at the papers, unable to look away for a long time. Drool was practically about to drip from her mouth.

Her appearance gave Shu Yue a headache. She felt that this young master Lia’s death was not so simple. For now, they needed to squeeze out as much value as possible from this identity and then run away. The noble circles ran too deep, and she lacked the ability to protect herself. She had to escape as soon as she had extracted enough benefits from being Lia White.

“Sister Anna…” Shu Yue said with a heavy expression, calling softly.
