Chapter 13: Girlfriends are deeply affectionate

A Shocking Revelation

Su Keke’s words struck like lightning, stunning all four at the table—including Wang Jie, the agent next door.
The air froze, time stalling for a moment.

Lin Lu hadn’t expected Su Keke to spill it.
Wasn’t it humiliating to admit she’d “reunited” with her “enemy”?

Wang Jie, with top-notch professionalism, slid over, clamping Su Keke’s mouth.
She scanned the room, relieved the noisy crowd hadn’t overheard.
A scandal before finishing dinner would’ve hit the headlines.

Still, she’d lose sleep for months.
Her prized artist, treated like a daughter, secretly tangled with some random guy?
A plain college kid, not even from the industry.

Yi Dian Dian, however, was the most shell-shocked, her mind crashing.
After processing one wave of chaos, another undecodable bombshell hit.

Her tiny brain’s CPU spun, failing to grasp how Lin Lu and Su Keke reconciled.

A Heated Accusation

After a long pause, Yi Dian Dian snapped back, her cute face unprecedentedly stern.
Pointing at Su Keke’s forehead, she declared judgment.

“Traitor! Heretic! Lapdog!”

Su Keke shoved Wang Jie’s hand away, desperate to save face.
“I’m no lapdog!
It’s not what you think—state policy paired us this morning!”

Yi Dian Dian and Wang Jie blinked, recalling the morning’s CCTV news about a new pairing policy.
They’d brushed it off then.

“You mean you and Lin Lu were both picked for the pilot—and paired together?”

Even Lin Lu and Su Keke still found it surreal, like someone orchestrated it.

“Doubt me? Ask Lin Lu.
Right, Lin Lu?”

Having exposed Su Keke once, Lin Lu didn’t dare do it again.
He nodded, knowing her star temper was untouchable.

A Bitter Lament

Leaning back, Su Keke sighed, envying Yi Dian Dian.
“You’re lucky, not stuck like me.
If only I got a loyal, sweet guy.
Instead, I’m saddled with this scum.
But it’s state-mandated—what can I do?”

“…”

Lin Lu felt unluckier.
Paired with Su Keke, he’d triggered a cascade of exes.

Yi Dian Dian, distracted, sipped her drink, mumbling, “Is there a way to… swap?
Like, I take Lin Lu as my match.
Don’t get me wrong—I just pity you, stuck with this playboy again.
As your bestie, I’d share your burden…”

Su Keke waved her off.
“No, no!
I can’t let you sacrifice yourself.
I’ll bear this pain… and no, there’s no swapping.”

Lin Lu, passed around like trash, was touched.
Their sisterhood ran so deep they’d sacrifice their happiness for each other?
Almost teary.

But Yi Dian Dian, who should’ve been teary, pouted, stabbing her orange slice until it was mush.

Was being paired with Lin Lu truly so despairing?
Imagining herself in Su Keke’s shoes, it oddly didn’t feel that bad.

What crushed her was this: Lin Lu would be someone’s rightful husband someday, while she’d just be a youthful mistake.

A Somber Departure

After dinner, at the restaurant’s entrance, Yi Dian Dian’s mood was off.
Her usual bubbly energy was gone, her small frame lonely under the night sky as she drifted toward campus.

Lin Lu glanced at Su Keke.
“Your bestie’s down.
Not gonna comfort her?”

“You’re her ex—why aren’t you comforting her?”
Su Keke scoffed.
“I’m the one who needs comforting…”

As Lin Lu turned toward campus, Su Keke thought he’d chase Yi Dian Dian, grabbing him.
“I’m right here!
What’s with comforting her first?
Who’s your girlfriend now?
Even if state-assigned, I’m legit!”

Lin Lu looked at her oddly.
“Senior, are you delirious from hunger?
I’m why you’re upset—comforting you would make it worse.”

Su Keke crossed her arms, huffing.
“Then you owe me comfort for ruining my mood.
Plus, aren’t you going home?
Don’t forget nightly check-ins.
Not that I care if you get warned—I’d love living alone.”

“Home” slipped out naturally, her cheeks reddening.
But she wasn’t wrong—that apartment was their forever home now.

“I need to grab my stuff from the dorm first…”

A Flashy Ride

Su Keke relaxed, then offered, “I’ll drive you to campus.
It’s faster, so you won’t miss check-in.”

Free ride?
Lin Lu didn’t argue, following her to a sleek red supercar—different from this morning’s.
She’d clearly raked in millions.

He wasn’t jealous, just nostalgic.
Before, though too young to drive, his garage brimmed with luxury cars.
Now, even a scooter required budgeting.

Su Keke dropped him at the boys’ dorm.
The flashy car stunned broke students, who assumed some rich guy was flaunting his conquest.
But a handsome nobody stepped out of the passenger seat—driven by a sugar mama, surely.

A Stunning Reveal

To everyone’s shock, the driver was a gorgeous girl, her waist-length blonde hair shimmering under moonlight, a vision of a lunar goddess.

Wasn’t that “Miss Keke”?
Why was she sponsoring a college guy?!
