Chapter 14: Emily’s Best Friend.

The graceful woman called over a male attendant. He looked young and handsome, but when facing women, he showed a faint trace of fear. Of course, his eyes also contained a hint of desire.

Shu Yue looked back and forth. At this moment, the male attendant walked over.

“Lord Lia, please allow me to handle your identity registration.”

“Oh.”

She responded and stood up to follow him out.

The identity registration process was extremely simple. It was completed in less than ten minutes.

Shu Yue held the dark silver badge in her hand and sighed inwardly.

Having connections really does make a difference. Without this letter of introduction, registering as an alchemist with just the ordinary noble identity of Lia White would have taken quite a lot of time. She probably wouldn’t have received it for several days.

The badge was about the size of a gold coin. It was engraved with the emblem of the Alchemists Guild—an intricate design of countless squares embedded within each other. Under the light, it shimmered with brilliant, dazzling colors.

It was said that this was the original and only piece of the Philosopher’s Stone.

Shu Yue gripped it in her hand and looked up at the male attendant.

“Can a Mercury-rank alchemist purchase sub-dragon blood?”

“Sub-dragon blood?”

The male attendant thought carefully for a moment before nodding.

Once one became a certified alchemist of the Guild, all the barriers set for ordinary people disappeared. Especially the restrictions on purchasing materials. Sub-dragon blood was not something ordinary people could buy.

Hearing that it was possible, Shu Yue’s eyes lit up.

“I need a lot. The more the better!”

“Understood. I will arrange it for you right away.”

Seeing Shu Yue’s excitement, the male attendant quickly led her to a guest room to rest temporarily. He would notify the relevant personnel about the materials. Shortly after Shu Yue sat down, someone arrived. It was a young and beautiful woman holding a small wooden board as she pushed open the door and entered.

“Lord Lia, how much sub-dragon blood do you wish to purchase?”

“How much do you have?”

Shu Yue raised an eyebrow.

The woman’s expression stiffened. She smiled awkwardly and replied,

“I’m sorry, I cannot answer that question…”

“Oh.”

Shu Yue pondered for a moment, then suddenly said,

“Then let’s start with one hundred liters!”

“Good, cough cough cough…”

The woman had already been about to agree when she suddenly realized what Shu Yue had said.

One hundred liters?

Her expression became extremely awkward.

If Shu Yue weren’t an honored guest, the woman would have thought she was some country bumpkin here to mess with her.

“Lord Lia, one hundred liters is far too much. Even the entire stock of sub-dragon blood in Grey Pine City isn’t that much.” She had initially thought it was one hundred milliliters, not liters!

Shu Yue curled her lips, disappointed. The Guild didn’t even have one hundred liters of sub-dragon blood?

“Then fifty liters?”

“…”

“Forty liters?”

“…”

“Do you have twenty liters?”

“Well… Lord Lia, our sub-dragon blood is sold by the milliliter, and…”

The woman was just an employee after all. She didn’t dare offend Shu Yue, who was now a Guild member.

So, she proactively revealed some of the hidden details.

“Lord Lia, you may not know this, but sub-dragon blood is an extremely precious alchemical material. Although the Guild has some stock, it is mostly kept as emergency reserves.

Additionally, sub-dragon blood is a key ingredient for Dragon Blood Potion. Every time we receive some, it is immediately refined into Dragon Blood Potion and supplied to the various noble families in Grey Pine City.”

“Dragon Blood Potion?”

“Yes. Its effect is to help temper and strengthen the body. It is extremely beneficial for warriors who follow the combat technique system. This is very attractive to nobles, so the Guild always prioritizes supplying them first.”

“I see…”

Shu Yue finally understood why the Guild had so little dragon blood. The reason the woman had hesitated to agree was also because the remaining sub-dragon blood was reserved for emergencies. One person definitely couldn’t take too much.

In short, it was limited…

“Fine. I won’t empty your stock, but you must at least give me half of the sub-dragon blood you have.”

“I need to ask for instructions.”

The woman didn’t dare make the decision herself. After excusing herself, she immediately went to notify her superior.

In a deep office within the Guild building, the graceful mature beauty who had not introduced herself to Shu Yue was slightly surprised when she learned how large Shu Yue’s appetite was. Her gaze turned toward the black-haired noble girl sitting opposite her.

“Winnesa, what do you think this Lia White wants so much sub-dragon blood for?”

The girl named Winnesa had a dignified and elegant bearing. Despite her young age, she already possessed a graceful and refined temperament. Her dark, beautiful eyes pondered for a moment before she shook her head.

“We can go ask him.”

“If you want to go, then go.”

The graceful woman had little interest in Shu Yue and did not intend to use this opportunity to meet her again.

Winnesa, however, smiled lightly and joked,

“Perhaps he wants to refine some aphrodisiac potion?”

Aside from being used for Dragon Blood Potion, sub-dragon blood had another widespread use: strengthening yang and tonifying the kidneys.

As she spoke, Winnesa’s beautiful eyes turned toward the chestnut-haired girl sitting silently beside her.

“Emily, what do you think?”

“Hmph!”

Emily curled her lips, completely unwilling to respond to her best friend.

Winnesa covered her mouth and laughed.

“Since you don’t want to see him, I’ll go take a look at what kind of person your fiancé is. After all, he’s the one who resisted even Lady Sheren’s Intoxicating Fragrance of Desire.”

“If you want to go, then go. I don’t like him anyway, and I will never marry him!”

The more Emily thought about it, the angrier she became. She didn’t know what had gotten into her father. He used to dote on her so much, yet this time he completely ignored her feelings and married her off to a man she had never met before, someone she had never even heard of. It was simply too much!

Winnesa smiled as she watched her best friend’s angry expression. She stood up, curtsied to Sheren, and then followed the reporting woman out. Two or three seconds later, Emily also stood up from the sofa. With a face full of thick resentment, she walked out as well.

Sheren said nothing. She was pondering why a man could resist her Intoxicating Fragrance of Desire.

She could clearly sense that Shu Yue’s strength was only at first-tier level. It was impossible for him to defend against the potion diffused in the air. The Intoxicating Fragrance of Desire would first increase goodwill upon inhalation, but the more one breathed in, the stronger the desire in their heart would become, eventually turning their entire mind into a puppet controlled by lust.

Of course, she hadn’t used much on Shu Yue, only enough to make a normal man hard enough that he would need to relieve himself once to calm down. Yet Shu Yue had shown absolutely no reaction.

“How truly strange…”

While Sheren was sighing, Winnesa had already reached Shu Yue’s door. A maid opened it for her.

Inside the resting room, Shu Yue looked over. Surprise flickered in her heart.

Who is she?
