Chapter 15: He’s quite good at it.
CocoLiss felt that, as expected of another world, there weren’t classes crammed in immediately after the opening speech.
Surprisingly, this made her develop a slight interest in attending school.
It might also simply be because they were learning magic. If it were politics, she would still sleep through class as usual.
Speaking of which, did this make her the otherworld version of Harry Potter?
Just as she had followed the same path back home, successfully shaking off that certain naturally airheaded chatterbox and planning to rest properly, there was a knock on the door.
Knock knock knock.
CocoLiss’s good mood vanished instantly.
Her originally free time was erased by this uninvited guest.
No matter who it was, she wouldn’t show them a good face now.
Dragging her fluffy slippers, she walked to the door with a belly full of anger and opened it with full irritation.
“Eh? Lady Zain, why are you here?”
CocoLiss pressed her hands together and put on a surprised smile.
“I came to see if the Saintess is still getting used to the academy.”
Although CocoLiss didn’t understand why both the great bishop and the Hero wanted to check if she was adapting to the academy environment.
Could it be that if she wasn’t used to it, they would open a special tutoring class just for her?
“If the Saintess really cannot adapt, we can also arrange for a dedicated teacher to instruct you privately. It will only cause some minor inconvenience during the later mage rank certification, but none of that is important compared to your growth.”
They really could open a private class.
“Thank you, Lady Zain. I actually quite like the academy. Everyone there is very nice and speaks pleasantly.”
CocoLiss said this.
“That’s good, that’s good.”
The little nun slightly stepped aside and invited the red-robed bishop into the room.
Once the two were seated, the kind old woman in front of her spoke again. “Saintess, if you have any questions about the academy, feel free to ask.”
Actually, CocoLiss really wanted to ask if there were final exams and what the answers were.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t ask that.
“Lady Zain, is this giving me special treatment?”
It made sense. Even that fox-eared airhead knew more than she did—though what that girl knew was probably just gossip.
“Saintess, please don’t misunderstand. This is only because you have never set foot in the royal capital before and know very little about the academy. We are simply supplementing the information that other royal capital students or distant nobles already know.”
The old woman spoke with a hint of haste.
She seemed to have mistaken CocoLiss for someone very upright, fearing that saying it was special treatment would make her feel it was unacceptable.
Unfortunately, CocoLiss was dying for it. She even wanted to cheat.
“I want to ask about the study system at Freud Academy and how graduation works…”
“The program is three years. If you obtain elementary mage certification within these three years, you can graduate directly. You can also choose to stay in the academy after obtaining elementary mage certification to prepare for mid-rank mage certification.”
Bishop Zain explained in considerable detail.
“Since I’m in the superior class, does that mean I must obtain mid-rank mage certification within these three years?”
“Saintess, class placement is based on magic talent. The certifications mentioned earlier are mainly considered for the vast majority of students in the academy—that is, the medium and inferior classes. The superior class has the fewest students. Sometimes they can’t even fill half a classroom at the start of the term. Their talent means there is no need to worry about elementary mage certification. As long as they study seriously for a while, they will definitely pass the mid-rank mage certification.”
“Magic rank certification takes place every six months through practical trials. Once your total magic power reaches the standard and you complete certain requirements, you can pass.”
CocoLiss nodded.
Ah, she had actually only wanted to ask if she had to complete some kind of target.
It seemed she had thought too simply. The great bishop in front of her already took it for granted that she would obtain mid-rank mage certification.
What would happen if she said she couldn’t do it right now? Ahaha…
“Lady Zain, what level is a mid-rank mage roughly at?”
She decided to ask first. Maybe she could muddle through.
“Roughly…”
The red-robed great bishop pointed at the wall beside them. “They can easily pierce through this entire building with a basic fireball spell.”
CocoLiss recalled the tiny fireball she had rubbed out that could only light a fire.
“But I believe the Saintess will be able to do it in no time.”
“No, no, no. I don’t have the powerful strength and talent that Lady Zain has. It’s better to take a little more time…”
“My talent is five rings lower than yours, Saintess.”
CocoLiss looked up in astonishment and found that the red-robed bishop’s expression was serious. It seemed she was telling the truth.
“Saintess, is there anything else you want to ask? Or anything in the academy that you need my help with?”
CocoLiss still didn’t want to be too high-profile. Getting rid of that lovesick brain today had already taken all her effort.
“Speaking of which, Lord Joshua came to visit me today. He said he wanted to see if I was adapting to academy life, and it caused quite a stir…”
When the little nun said this, she puffed out her cheeks slightly, looking like a carp blowing bubbles—completely like she was complaining.
Yes, she was snitching. After all, the only person she could think of who could slightly rein in the blond Hero was the great bishop in front of her.
“That was me who asked him to go. After all, the Saintess has no background in the royal capital, and the local nobles are quite exclusionary. Not to mention the Saintess herself has outstanding talent.”
Ah, it was the most annoying part—scheming and undercurrents.
“But didn’t we agree to keep as low a profile as possible in the academy?”
“Because before the Saintess grows up, you do need some protection. However, I believe these insignificant little protections will soon become unnecessary for you.”
“Then couldn’t you have come yourself, Lady Zain? Since he still has training, there was no need to trouble him with this trip.”
“As a great bishop, I am involved in too many things. Every student is precious to me. At a time like this, giving special treatment easily leads people to overthink and suspect your identity. But the Hero is different. He has many gaps in his personal relationships, and his position is much freer than mine. He is the best choice to provide protection without exposing your Saintess identity.”
CocoLiss understood. The blond Hero was the optimal solution.
So being a great bishop was this unfree? You couldn’t even have personal relationships.
The little nun began to suspect that every time this great bishop came to see her, she was using concealment magic.
“From the Saintess’s tone, could it be that you have some grudge with the Hero?”
“Not at all.”
CocoLiss made an X with two fingers over her chest.
“Please bear with him a little more. That child is stubborn, and the pain from losing the people close to him is too much. Sometimes he doesn’t know how to take care of others.”
The red-robed great bishop still showed not the slightest bit of arrogance. Instead, she began to plead with CocoLiss, the country girl who had just arrived in the royal capital. “It is the entire empire’s greatest wish to see the Saintess and the Hero getting along harmoniously.”
“There’s no such thing, no such thing.”
CocoLiss recalled the words the blond Hero had left before he left.
He had said that in front of him, she didn’t need to wear the heavy mask.
“He’s actually quite good at taking care of people.”
