Chapter 16: Fellow villager, oh fellow villager!

“CocoLiss dear, wake up!”

Early in the morning, the little nun had not even woken from her dreams when she heard shouting from outside the door.

The person disturbing her sweet sleep would choke on water every time they drank from now on.

With slightly messy hair that still couldn’t hide her stunning, otherworldly beauty.

So after transmigrating to another world, she really would encounter this kind of scene straight out of a Japanese anime where a beautiful girl wakes someone up.

The only pity was that she herself was also a beautiful girl.

And that natural airhead was indeed getting annoying.

CocoLiss was in a very bad mood today. She would not show anyone a good face.

She quickly tidied herself up, used some delicate little spells to fix her appearance, put on a black long dress, and then layered the Golden Rose robe over it.

Alright. The pitiful student had put on her uniform and was ready for class.

“Sorry, sorry. I’m not used to the new place yet and didn’t sleep well last night.”
She pressed her hands together, closed her eyes, and put on a sincere apologetic look.

“So CocoLiss dear has trouble sleeping in new beds?”
Noile lifted the slightly bowing CocoLiss. “There, there, I forgive you.”

This annoying airhead not only disturbed her sleep but also pushed her luck?

“Actually, I didn’t sleep well either last night because that shapeshifter that infiltrated the royal capital still hasn’t been caught. I’ve been on night patrol the whole time.”
The one who was even more pitiful than a student was the half-working, half-studying student.

CocoLiss remembered that Noile’s night patrol job was basically inheriting the family business.

“Aren’t you already a superior class student at the academy now? You don’t have to work yourself too hard.”
She roughly knew that the superior class at this academy probably carried quite a high value.

The two walked side by side toward the academy.

“It’s not that troublesome. It’s just taking a stroll around this area of the royal capital at night. It helps my father a bit and I can earn a little wage…”

“Eh, right.”
The fox-eared girl suddenly remembered something. “Didn’t Lord Hero come give you living expenses yesterday? How much was it?”

“Now that you mention it…”
CocoLiss began searching inside her Golden Rose robe.

She hadn’t had time to check it after receiving it yesterday. She had even been using her own savings for food and drink in the royal capital since then.

Although she was just a little nun, she had saved up a small stash over the past half year.

It was just that consumption in the royal capital was completely different from the small town. One meal here could buy three meals there.

No wonder that Second Prince had called them smelly outsiders.

She pulled out a money pouch. When she opened it, Noile beside her also leaned her head over.

“Um…”
The fox-eared girl looked at the sparse silver coins inside, along with mostly copper coins, some of which even had chips missing.

CocoLiss realized she had accidentally taken out her own small stash.

The fox-eared girl patted CocoLiss’s shoulder, making her withdraw her hand in pain.

“It’s okay, CocoLiss dear. If you can’t afford meals, just come find me. My night patrol team still provides food.”

What did this brainless airhead mean? This was her small stash saved up as the only clergy member in the small town, with her monthly salary plus a little skimming. How had it turned into the appearance of someone who couldn’t even afford food once she reached the royal capital?

Fine. With her current spending habits, she really might not be able to afford it.

She hated rich people.

CocoLiss didn’t explain. She put away her pitiful little money pouch with a wronged look and even patted the exterior of the delicate pouch, as if comforting its humiliated feelings.

Only then did she take out the living expenses the blond Hero had given her.

The moment she opened it, golden light flashed.

“All… all gold coins?”

Under the sunlight, the gold coins in the pouch even cast a golden glow on both their faces.

Densely packed, intact gold coins lay inside the pouch.

CocoLiss had never seen such a scene before.

“Are these gold coins real?”
The child from a poor family instinctively began to doubt.

“They should be, right? Lord Joshua wouldn’t joke about something like this.”

That straightforward guy didn’t look like someone who would joke around.

“Let me test it.”
The tiger-headed Noile picked up one gold coin and brought it to her mouth, then bit it with her sharp little fangs.

“How is it?”
CocoLiss asked expectantly.

Noile was silent for a moment. “Wait, is it real if I can bite it, or real if I can’t bite it?”

She really shouldn’t have expected anything from this sleep-disturbing airhead.

“They should be real.”
CocoLiss closed the pouch and stuffed it into the innermost pocket of her Golden Rose robe.

Don’t show off your wealth, don’t show off your wealth.

“Eh, I still have one in my hand.”

CocoLiss glanced at it. “Consider this as thanks to Lady Noile for being my guide during this time.”

“This is two months of my wages. CocoLiss dear really is generous.”
Noile wiped the saliva off it with her sleeve.

“Compared to money, friendship between friends is more important.”
CocoLiss remained the Saintess little white flower.

Of course, she simply felt that since that gold coin had been bitten by this girl, she needed to give her another one to make their relationship a bit more stable.

Although she was an annoying airhead, she was still a local of the royal capital. CocoLiss couldn’t trouble Joshua and Bishop Zain with everything.

“Wuuu, CocoLiss dear is too nice.”

The little nun took light, graceful steps and elegantly dodged the girl’s incoming hug.

But on the way to school, the two of them ran into another familiar person.

“What exactly is your relationship with Lord Hero?”

CocoLiss turned her head.

It was Jiahao—no, the Second Prince.

The little nun showed the Second Prince a gentle smile. “Good morning, Your Highness the Second Prince. Lord Hero and I are simply the simplest kind of connection. We had a brief encounter in our hometown. He just showed me a little care since I’m in an unfamiliar place.”

The arrogant Second Prince still looked at CocoLiss with suspicion.

It seemed this guy cared quite a bit about Joshua the Hero.

Maybe he was a little fanboy.

“Exactly. People like you lowly outsiders shouldn’t drag Lord Hero down by getting involved with him. This prince is already showing mercy by deigning to chat with you.”

As expected, Jiahao had a foul mouth.

“What is this guy babbling about?”
Noile grabbed CocoLiss’s arm. “Let’s go to the academy and prepare for the entrance exam. Let him keep babbling here.”

The entrance exam that CocoLiss had finally managed to forget was once again reminded to her by Noile.

And as a magic academy, Freud’s entrance exam seemed quite different from normal school exams.

“We just need to demonstrate magic to the theoretical magic teacher during the entrance exam. Let the teacher know our approximate level so they can decide the pace of lessons.”

Having a royal capital local beside her was really convenient.

Next was to see what this theoretical teacher’s requirements were like.

Just like with an invigilator, the first thing was to look at the teacher’s face.

The two took their seats. CocoLiss placed her palm on the edge of the desk and stared fixedly at the classroom door like a little cat waiting for cat food. Noile beside her copied the action.

The teacher who walked in had a rather aged face and looked very scholarly.

A kind old man.

He just looked a little too familiar.

CocoLiss narrowed her eyes.

This… seemed… possibly… to be that old priest who had dragged her into the small town church to become a nominal nun and then ran off to the royal capital to enjoy the good life.
