Chapter 3: Torn Dreams and Steamed Buns

Chapter 2: A Torn Uniform and a Steamed Bun

“Wah!”

Luo Su jolted upright in bed, her back slamming against the headboard. The room was pitch black, save for the stubborn glow of the alarm clock—05:30.

“Phew…”

“Phew…”

“What a… terrible dream.”

She rubbed her aching forehead, her little tail unconsciously wrapping around her wrist. That awful woman, pulling at her clothes, even tearing them… so mean!

Wait,

Something felt off. Luo Su cautiously lifted the blanket and looked. “No way, it’s really torn…”

Could the dream world actually affect reality?!

“Grr…”

Her already poor household took another hit. Luo Su hung her little head, no longer in the mood to sleep, and resentfully crawled out of bed.

“You better…”

“Not show up in my dreams tonight!”

Otherwise, she’d make… make that female thug see the wrath of a tough guy… Suddenly, Luo Su realized she probably, maybe, definitely couldn’t beat that thug.

“…”

Luo Su pouted, saying nothing yet everything, her little tail drooping as she shuffled toward the bathroom.

“Bad woman!”

In the mirror, a fierce little loli gritted her teeth, her tail—taller than her—swaying menacingly above, looking adorably ferocious…

But no matter how you looked at it, it had zero attack power.

“Ugh…”

Carefully brushing her long hair that nearly touched the floor, Luo Su sighed and gave in. “Bad woman, just don’t come back…”

She didn’t want to go through that again.

“Feeling down,”

“Might as well… treat myself to two steamed buns!”

Luo Su rummaged through the few coins left on the bathroom counter, casually flicking her little tail. “Last night, I must’ve been too hungry to fight back!”

“Huh?”

At that thought, Luo Su touched her tummy in disbelief. Still a bit hungry, but definitely not as bad as last night.

“No way!”

“Could I actually get full in my dreams now?!”

“Hmph…”

The girl’s eyes lit up, proudly shaking her head as she slid one coin back. “Then one bun for breakfast is enough!”

After a quick wash,

Luo Su skillfully wrapped her little tail around her wrist. The glossy black tail made her skin look even fairer. The heart-shaped tip rested on her pulse, trembling lightly with her heartbeat, like a living black silk bracelet.

So pretty!

In a flash, a handsome boy appeared in a shimmer of black light. He nodded with satisfaction. “As expected, the air up high is clearer!”

Luo Su stretched,

Opening the small window. As if signaling a good omen, the sky brightened just a bit.

“Let’s go!”

Throwing on her school uniform with its big tear, Luo Su slipped into an alley. There, an old lady made delicious buns… though they weren’t very filling.

“One steamed bun!” Luo Su handed over a coin.

“Alright…” The old lady smiled, a touch nostalgic. “Schools these days are great, handing out milk and eggs in the morning…”

“Y-yeah.”

Luo Su smiled, taking the warm, fluffy bun. The school didn’t actually give out those things, but buying just one bun every morning…

Felt kinda embarrassing.

Squatting in the alley, Luo Su took a bite of the soft bun. Even as a little girl with a smaller appetite, high school was when you ate the most.

“If I skip breakfast, I could eat at lunch…”

Nah, forget it!

Luo Su shook her head fiercely, scarfing down the rest of the bun in a few bites before running to the bus stop to wait for the No. 76 bus.

“Speaking of…”

“I won’t run into that female thug again today, right?”

Luo Su panicked a bit. Last time, she’d definitely been seen… Normally, mirrors wouldn’t show her true form, but last night she was so tired that…

“Take that!”

“Wah! What are you doing!”

Luo Su clutched her back, turning resentfully. The culprit was Gao Ye, her best friend, holding a basketball with half a pancake dangling from his mouth, looking utterly shameless.

“Heh heh.”

Gao Ye took another bite of his pancake, saying unhurriedly, “It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”

“Has it?”

Luo Su pouted, poking at Gao Ye’s gelled-up, spiked hair. “One day off, and you pull this stunt. If Old Xu sees you, you’re done for!”

“Hmph, I’m scared of him?”

Gao Ye casually slung his backpack to his front, pulling out a big bottle of mineral water and shaking it proudly. “I’m just worried I’m too handsome, making others jealous.”

“Oh, really?!”

Luo Su snatched his water bottle while he wasn’t looking and darted onto the just-arrived No. 76 bus. “I’m still looking forward to you getting a girlfriend!”

“Wait up!”

Gao Ye swallowed the rest of his pancake in one gulp, thumping his chest as he chased after her. “Right now, I just want to focus on studying!”

“Ha…”

Luo Su scoffed, scanning the bus. Good, no female thug. “I don’t believe you.”

“All good now.”

Gao Ye plopped into the seat next to her, grumbling, “Didn’t have time to wash out the gel. If I actually get a girlfriend, you better not be jealous!”

“Sure thing~”

Luo Su glanced at Gao Ye’s muscular build. If he went for being an athlete, he might actually get tons of girlfriends, but he was just a total otaku…

When he saw real girls, he’d… nervously hide.

His chances of getting a girlfriend were even lower than hers…

“…”

Luo Su resentfully glanced at the black tail on her wrist. Ugh… it was probably bigger than her now. Sob, life wasn’t fair.

Give me a time machine,

So I can beat up that jerk who made a random wish! Then… then make a new wish.

Heh heh… this time it’d definitely work.

After a while, as the bus started and stopped, the familiar announcement came: “Pingchang No. 1 High School, passengers getting off…”

“Let’s go.”

Luo Su nudged Gao Ye, who’d been babbling about his cat and then passed out like a dead pig.

“Oh.” He groggily opened his eyes, yawning. “Here already? Feels like yesterday’s sick day was a dream.”

Dream?

Luo Su instinctively looked toward the school gate. Sycamore leaves glided lightly in the air, students walking and pausing on the long slope, just like last night’s dream.

Except, no female thug.

Luo Su was genuinely scared of her. Such a sweet, pretty girl in reality… “Phew!” Luo Su shivered lightly. Too terrifying, better not think about it.

“By the way… Luo Su, you didn’t skip your homework, right~”

“No way!”

“Really? You didn’t sleep through evening study?”

“I said I didn’t!”

“Good then.” Gao Ye poured the mineral water over his head, rubbing it messily and saying Ark: Sure thing~”

Luo Su choked on a cough, but that didn’t stop her quick thinking. “You took a sick day yesterday, just act like you didn’t know…”

“You think I haven’t tried that!”

Gao Ye yanked open his backpack’s zipper, whining pitifully, “Old Xu called to ‘check on’ me and listed the homework three fcking times!”

The water bottle arced through the air, landing perfectly in the trash can. He slumped, wailing, “The worst part… his class is the last period today! And he said he’ll ‘pay special attention’ to my homework!”

“…”

Luo Su pursed her lips. Classic Old Xu.

But skipping Rosu not doing his homework despite knowing about it? Classic Old Gao. Still, she had* done her homework during evening study yesterday, haha!
